CAUSE YOU'RE MY QUEEN ☆ diya - roan ; - 09-07-2020

Roan Ó Foaláin-Roux was many things, but if there was one thing he wasn't, it was a fool. Even when he was under the worst pressure of his life, or struggling against the most powerful depression, he could trust his knowledge. His mind rarely steered him wrong, and obviously the majority of his brain power was dedicated to things concerning medicine, considering his rank as soothsayer. As a result of this, he had a tendency to pick up on certain things before others, his ever watchful blue eyes picking up on the faintest traces of sickness. In this case, what he had ended up spotting wasn't exactly an illness, per se. In fact, most would consider it to be an incredible gift, although the siamese wasn't sure of exactly how he felt about it. On one hand, he was never opposed to his family growing in some way, and lately his mama had seemed happier than ever before – even with all life had thrown at her. Then again, she had been happy in the past before, and all of that had been ripped away from her in an ever so cruel manner. So, he was ever so careful, and he remained ever watchful, eyes peeled for any signs of distress, or even the faintest bit of turmoil.

Thus far, he hadn't spotted any such signs, and that was what led him to today. Although his mama had not yet announced to anyone that she was pregnant – nor who the "father" was, even though he was fairly sure on his suspicions. Despite this, he still wanted to make sure that she was healthy, and that everything was developing smoothly. So, the soothsayer had packed his bag full of several herbs he wanted to give to his mother, all of which were supposed to help with the growth and health of coming children. When he had made his way to his mama's house, he hadn't even thought about the fact that it was also occupied by Diya, and that she would more than likely be there. When Roam pushed open the door of the house that Roxanne and Diya shared, he found himself looking around before he called out, "Mama...? Are you home? I've got some things for you." He took several more steps into the house, his blue gaze trying to seek out where his mama might have been stashed away, working on something. Instead of finding his mom, however, he stumbled upon Diya. He paused as he came face to face with her, hesitating for only a moment before he recovered, "Oh, Diya. Hello. Have you seen my mama...? Is she home right now?" He tried to play it off as casual, rather than him not really thinking of the other presence within his mother's home.

Today had been a low day for Diya, beginning with a brimming headache as she awoke. She'd kept mention of it to herself, wishing her girlfriend a good day as she headed off to do... whatever her job entailed. Diya wasn't sure as of now, frankly. The snowy feline had asked Seapaw to watch after Suite for a little bit, and the brightly colored tiguar and been more than willing. She had spent the time since curled on her bead, cursing the cold. Not that it bothered her as much as it could, she still disliked the feeling.

At the sound of the door opening she roused, missing whoever spoke's words. She slipped off the bed, a dull thrum in the back of her skull. She turned the corner, squinting at the light colored blur at her door. It wasn't until they were much closer. "Oh, Roan, hello!" she greeted, taking a step back as he entered, giving the Soothsayer his space to mill about.

As he asked about his mother, the vampiress shook her head. "Ah, no, you've missed her." Her blue eyes flickered to the door before returning to Roan. Her girlfriends eldest, and yet the one she felt she knew least. She'd always tried to keep an eye out for the eldest boy but, she'd never known how to approach. She'd left the occasional basket of treats in front of his home for him, never mentioning it was her. A simple quiet kindness. She looked away, eyes squeezing shut as she willed away the faint remaining headside. After a moment of quiet, she returned her gaze to the soothsayer, chuckling. "She'd off workin' so you're stuck with me. I think she mentioned checkin' after Goldie at some point if you want to head after her."

SOOTHSAYER ❝ ROAN ❞ THE TYPHOON
Diya was not someone that Roan knew a great deal about, mainly by choice. He had been angry when she had dropped off the face of the earth, believing that she had hurt his mama unforgivably when she left. His anger had been as clear as day when Diya had first returned, his words cold as he had welcomed her back into The Typhoon. However, since then, his anger had dulled slightly, noting just how happy the feline seemed to make Roxanne. He was still unsure of how much he trusted her – after all, his mama had been hurt repeatedly before – but he wouldn't be outright hostile to her, anymore. Besides if his mama had trusted her enough to move in with her... he supposed that he could trust her as well, on some level.

Despite this, Roan couldn't help the slight surprise that flicked across his face when he ran into Diya, the soothsayer immediately able to identify the slight wince of pain on her face. The siamese hesitated for a moment before he said, his tail flicking back and forth behind him, "I missed her...? Oh, well, it's not that big of a deal." It wasn't as if he couldn't find her later, or just leave the herbs in her and Diya's home. When the other asked him if he'd like to go after Roxie, he shook his head from side to side, explaining casually, "It's alright, I don't need to go after her. I just came here to drop off a few herbs for her." He turned to rifle through his bag, grabbing onto a mouthful of the herbs that he had brought with him. Placing the herbs down on the nearest safe surface, he muttered softly, "I thought perhaps she could use them, just be sure to tell her I came over, so that she doesn't let them go to waste." He was sure that he could count on Diya for that, since he had little doubt that she and his mama spoke daily.

He was tempted just turn and go right then and there, but if his suspicions were correct... it would probably be in the best interests of everyone for him to learn more about the other. Glancing over Diya, the medic hesitated for a moment before he spoke, "Are you alright...? You seem as though you're in pain." Most wouldn't be able to identify a headache just from a few sparse glances at someone, but Roan wasn't like most. Rather than focusing on combat or stealth, like most of the rest of the group, the young draconic feline had always been more focused on health, and medicine. He was proud of his knowledge, even if it occasionally brought him a great deal of stress.

Diya watched as Roan set aside the pile of herbs, her head cocking to the side as he did so. "I gotta ask, what are they for?" Her gaze would move between the Soothsayer and the herbs, confusion clear on her face. Worry overtook the confusion, wondering if Roxanne had some mystery ailment that she hadn't told Diya about. She pushed that away, knowing if something was wrong, Roxanne would tell her. Allowing the worry to slip from her face, she nodded. "Ill let her know as soon as she steps through that door," promised the vampire, giving the herbs a curious sniff.

Shrugging, her ears perked as he questioned her. How did he... SHe hadn't realized she was showing any visible signals for the pain, though she supposed the soothsayer would be more intune with such things. She flicked an ear and shrugged, giving him a reassuring smile. "It's nothing to worry about, Roan," she insisted, knowing that this wasn't something that she really needed to seek help for. For the most part, it had already faded, just a dull thrum in the back of her skull.

"I woke up with a headache but, it's already mostly faded, just dealing with the lingering tail-end symptoms." She was quiet for a moment, rubbing faintly at her cheek. "I'll admit, I'm impressed. Didn't even realize I was showing it," a surprising amount of fondness and pride in her tone.

SOOTHSAYER ❝ ROAN ❞ THE TYPHOON
Roan supposed that he should've figured Diya would want to know what the herbs were for. After all, she and his mama were very close, and it was easy to read the concern that flicked across the other's face. However, the question almost made him laugh, considering what the herbs really were for, and who he thought had caused the "condition." For a brief moment, he considered keeping what the herbs did to himself, but ultimately he decided against it. It was best not to keep secrets, and presumably Diya already knew, so instead the soothsayer just explained, his tail flicking back and forth, "They're herbs for pregnancy, actually. To help make sure everything goes smoothly. They've got nutrients to help any children, and there's also some herbs for assisting with milk production... for the future." He wasn't sure how he felt about having even more new siblings, especially after losing Jaime, but... either way, he'd put on a brave face.

When Diya explained that she had a simple headache, the smaller feline found himself nodding, gesturing towards his bag as he spoke, "If need be, I can give you some poppy seeds to help cope with the pain. Even if it's not bad, they're always a help... best not to take many, though." He wasn't sure he had met anyone within The Typhoon yet who had an addiction to poppy seeds, but he knew it was very much a possibility. It was why he only tended to give them to others once or twice, before switching over to something like dock leaves. Upon hearing the vampire call his skills impressive, Roan couldn't help but snort, having never thought too terribly highly of himself. He knew he was skilled, but he'd never been the type to brag. Shrugging his thin shoulders in a loose motion, the soothsayer explained, "I've been trained to look for the smallest signs of pain... trained myself pretty extensively on it, actually. I've lost too many people to them hiding injuries for me to not. It's also how I could tell that mama was... you know." He'd seen the signs of it when he was younger, and it was difficult to forget them now.

About three things ran through Diya's mind in that moment. One, her girlfriend was pregnant. Exciting! Two, she had done that to her girlfriend. Oops? Three, her girlfriend's son was the one to tell her. Which, yikes, she didn't want to think too deep about the implications. She sat there in a shocked silence, eyes tracing a pattern on the ground as she processed the information. "Oh." She sat there, dumbfounded, as she processed this new information. Did Roxanne know? Surely she did, this wasn't her first rodeo. Her first rodeo was the one that had just delivered the information. "I'll uh, I'll definitely get those too her!" she said, confidently.

When he offered her a round of poppyseeds, she shook her said. "They wouldn't do anything for me for more than about five minutes," she admits. Her body, specifically the supernatural aspects fo her, metabolized it all too fast for it too doo any good. Her mind momentarily shifted to Michael, wondering if he was the same way. She's ask the bobcat later. For now, focus back on Roan.

A frown momentarily flickered on her face as he mentioned the fact that he was self taught. Had he had nobody to teach him? Despite this, he'd done amazingly. "Once again, you impress me, Roan," she admitted, not able to hide the pride in her voice. Not trying to, actually. "To know these things is one thing but, to train yourself? Thats truly impressive."

SOOTHSAYER ❝ ROAN ❞ THE TYPHOON
When Roan saw the whirlwind of emotions that suddenly passed over Diya's face, he found himself wincing a little. It was suddenly obvious that the snowy feline hadn't known about the pregnancy yet, and he had just been the one to break the news. He felt bad about it, knowing he'd more than likely have to apologize to his mama later. Either that, or Diya would end up feigning surprise when she got the news from the true source. The siamese wasn't sure which he wanted to happen more, considering he didn't exactly want Diya lying to his mama's face. Either way, for now he just nodded a little stiffly, muttering as he spared a glance towards the herbs, "Yeah... thank you. I thought it'd be best if I just delivered them here myself." Of course, he also hadn't expected Diya to be the only one home. It wasn't as if he could go back and fix his mistake now, so it was best to just keep on going, he supposed.

When the other mentioned that poppy seeds wouldn't do much for her, the medic suddenly found himself interested. Cocking his head to one side, he questioned curiously, "Oh, really...? That's... unique. Must make pain relief a... well, a pain, I suppose." Part of the soothsayer wanted to question her further, but he held back for now. Best not to ask invasive questions when they were first truly interacting. Of course, when Diya expressed how impressed she was by him, the feline couldn't help the sheepish look that crossed his face. He shrugged his shoulders, wings bobbing along as he explained, "I... I suppose that it is fairly impressive, in a way. I never really thought about it, though. I was originally promoted alongside my grandfather, Ahab. He was supposed to teach me, but... he disappeared. So, it became necessary for me to teach myself." Back in those days, The Typhoon hadn't had nearly as many willing to dedicate themselves to become sages.
