REALLY REALLY GOOD FOR WHAT ☆ baby croc hatching - roan ; - 08-25-2020 Roan had been doing so much moving around as of late, that he didn't usually have a lot of time to focus on one thing. That was how, as time passed, he hadn't noticed how the egg that his mother had given him was getting closer and closer to hatching. That wasn't to say that he wasn't taking care of it, of course. He had it bundled up in a little nest of blankets with some kind of source of heat nearby at pretty much all times, and he even occasionally brought it against his chest while he was napping to keep it warm. Beyond that, there hadn't really been much for him to do besides wait, and with everything going on recently, he hadn't even noticed the cracks that had begun to form on the egg. It had been some time since the Soothsayer had been given the gift of the small life forming inside, and the youngling within was more than eager to get out. All Roan could hope for what that he would be able to care for them properly once they emerged. It had been around midday when Roan had heard the strange crunching noises coming from one of the corners of the temple, causing the siamese to raise his head in confusion. After a moment of simply sitting and listening, the draconic feline turned and headed over to where the egg's usual perch was, his blue eyes widening considerably when he saw the cracks spread out across the shell's surface. Not only that, but he could also see the very tip of a snout beginning to peek out, nipping and shoving at the environment that encased it. He stepped back in shock for a moment, before he quickly moved the nest down to the ground, just so that there was no chance of the baby crocodile falling. After several minutes of shoving and thrashing, the egg eventually came apart, with the crocodile inside taking a few tentative steps forward onto the temple floor. Roan found himself staring at the incredibly tiny creature, stunned by the differences between the youngling and Kal. Not only was it incredibly tiny, but the color scheme of it was rather beautiful. The croc's scales were mostly a creamy white color, with piebald patches of orange and black mixed in, making it look sort of like an odd orange ice cream mix. The medic hesitated for a moment before moving closer to the young crocodile, which just blinked slowly at him, seemingly taking in its surroundings. He carefully leaned down, picking the baby up in his jaws and turning to deposit it on his back, making sure it was secure between his wings. Once he was ready, he turned and headed out of the temple, looking around for where his mother might've been. Upon reaching the space near the tavern, he began to call out curiously, unable to keep a faint smile from his face, "Roxie? Mama? Where are you? I've got news!" Despite initially being anxious about taking in another living creature, he couldn't help the warm and excited feeling that filled him now. At the sound of her name, the Officer had perked up from where she had been laying only to frown slightly realizing it had been Roan who had called her by her name. It was odd and made the draconic femme rather uneasy but she rose to her paws slowly regardless of it, she made her way to where he had been calling her from only to see that he was near the tavern. Roxanne had never called Judith her mother and normally uttered her first name, she hoped that Roan wasn't going to do the same with her. The thought saddened her.
She shoved those thoughts away and perked up a bit noticing the little creature that was on her son's back, she found a smile on her maw "What're you going to name them?" She decides to ask with a slow nod of her head. She would draw closer only to take note of the little one's appearance, a lot different from Kalayavan but it made her happy to see Roan with a saltwater crocodile of his own. Re: REALLY REALLY GOOD FOR WHAT ☆ baby croc hatching - roan ; - 09-02-2020 Honestly, Roan hadn't given much thought to the fact that he had called his mother by her name initially. He had simply done it to grab her attention, and to let her know that he was looking for her, in case she didn't recognize his voice. He didn't really see a single scenario in which his mama wouldn't recognize his voice, but he had become a bit of a recluse lately, so he wouldn't have blamed her. Either way, Roan was fairly sure it was impossible for him to ever think of his mother in the same way that Roxie thought of Judith. His mama had always been nothing but kind to him, even if she occasionally worried that she hadn't done things right. She had always made him feel loved and happy, and he would never forget that, especially not when he had gestures such as the croc upon his back to remind him. When his mama approached, Roan couldn't help the smile that spread across his muzzle, surprisingly rare these days for the young soothsayer. For the first time in a while, he felt genuinely happy about something. Gently lowering his head so that the baby crocodile could half climb and half slip down, the draconic feline mused softly, "I'm not sure yet, honestly... I wasn't sure when he would actually hatch, so I didn't think to come up with some names ahead of time." He watched as the hatchling slowly moved around, glossy eyes glancing at Roxie as he swung back and forth rather sluggishly, obviously getting used to not being cooped up in a shell. Eventually, Roan suggested with a little chuckle, "What about... Galaga? I remember reading in this book, about this human game... it sounded like the sound effects in it were sorta like the noises that crocodiles make." He wasn't sure how close he actually was, considering he had obviously never played Galaga himself, but the description in the book he had read seemed rather close. Diya, last time Roan had called out, had stayed back and eventually wandered across a wretched scene. Not wishing for a repeat of that moment, she had followed ofter Roxanne swiftly. She hadn't said much as she stared at the baby croc in awe. She glanced at Roan for a moment before lowering herself to be at eye level with Galaga. She met the reptile's glassy eyes, her own eyes crossing as she attempted to stare down her muzzle at the small creature. "Hello, little one," she cooed, clearly enamored with she would dub her "new best friend" in the future. She would straighten into a sitting position, smiling at Roan. "I think that's a lovely name," she would comment, smiling at the Soothsayer. Her gaze would return to the reptile swiftly after and she would stick a paw out towards it. Wiggling her toes, she moved the paw back and forth, attempting to play with the young croc. |
