ALYOSHA, MY DEAR, MY ONLY SON, I'M AFRAID OF IVAN —
He was dreaming. He dreamt of the sea, again. This time, there was something in the water. It was a slender, feminine form that rippled and changed shape as the waves saw fit. All the temptations and devils that he had personified in his mind were male, so there was something different and alluring about this, but he could not understand why. Her soft voice murmured in his ears and he gasped, taking a step closer. And, he fell.

Ivan jolted awake with a gasp. A book fell and crashed to the ground in a loud thump, startling him out of his wits. His flanks heaved and his head burned. There was a crick in his neck that wouldn't go away after he twisted his head every which way. He took a moment to commit his vision to his memory. It was around month since he last saw his mother alive. He felt hollow and empty whenever he thought of her. Crying took up too much of his strength. He tried to go back to sleep, but he could never get comfortable enough and his eyelids felt like sticky lead oppressing his eyes. He decided to leave the library.

Ivan paced around the town mindlessly, occasionally pausing and glaring at a certain point in the distance before continuing to walk. He was not at all looking as to where he was going. It was quite likely he might bump into some unfortunate Tangler.

DELILAH EVERGARDEN
"The Gods have forsaken us."
Delilah had grown from flowers and earth- her birth by the faerie queen Titania supposed to have been a celebration, but dripping ink-like wings were a sign of impurity. She was doomed to lose her life if she stayed in the forest with her family, grasping for a chance that would never come.

Delilah never knew her mother. Never knew her father. She was never given a chance to, so when she had the chance to leave, she did. Left everything behind to be with her first lover, whom sold her into slavery. So of course, when she had lacked a proper support system, of course she would go down the wrong path, right? Wrong.

The woman had escaped to Tanglewood long ago, 60 moons had passed since her time of joining. Dragons were supposed to live longer, but Delilah wasn't originally a dragon. She was a Maine coon, just like the little child she had just ran right into.

"Oh, my! Excuse me. Are you lost, little one? I can give you a ride home on my back?"

It might have seemed intimidating, with a massive drake looming over you like she was, but the kind sparkle in her eyes never waned despite the ache in her old bones.
