A Stroll Across the Beach - Sterling - 02-02-2020 [span style="text-shadow:1.5px 1.5px #087F6A;"]Sterling[/span]
Early morning, sea winds, sounds of water breaking against the sand; what could be more relaxing. Sterling was making his way along the shoreline, letting those big paws of his sink into the damp sand. That bucket was gripped gingerly in his paw as he trotted along, eyes peering searchingly along the ground. His head would tilt every now and then to inspect something he thought may be of interest, a light humming coming from his throat. Within his bucket lied a small collection of rather vibrant seashells and even a few tarnished coins. In his wake were quite a few holes further down the beach from him, paw prints leading from one hole to the next. Clearly the Lynx had been busy today. Surely enough Sterling spotted what he considered a perfect edition to his growing collection! He worked his way over to it and peered down at it, awkwardly tilting his head to eye a pinkish looking shell. The process made the bucket tilt entirely with him which caused all of the shells to clatter to one side. A wide grin grew over his maw as he quickly set the bucket down in the sand and leaned down to pick up the shell in his maw. It was quickly deposited. "Another fine edition! I don't think that one was bright enough you need to try harder. What do you mean? Just look at it, shining there with the rest! It's only shining so much because you slobbered all over it when you picked it up." Sterling huffed at that, grumbling some and kicking up some dirt with his hind leg before scooping the bucket back up into his maw and continuing along. "Well I thought it was pretty." He said through his occupied maw, sounding a little pouty. Re: A Stroll Across the Beach - teef - 02-02-2020 my sweet love

the girl had seen the lynx but had never worked up the gut to say hi, until today. nose up in the air, she tracked him by scent, nose twitching as the she-wolf trotted down the sandy embankment, "well, i think it was quite pretty", she called out as she trotted to the water's edge. paws digging into the soft sand she hummed and dug up a gorgeous blue shell, "how about this one, mister?" she offered, picking it up daintily and approached him with a wagging tail and lowered head.
dropping the shell between them gently, she offered a friendly smile, "hello. my name's quennel. what's your name, mister?" she asked with a tip of her head, the frilly collar around her neck surprisingly remaining in place. shaking her coat a little to free it from the water she grinned, wondering if she should resume her swimming from earlier. watch the air raids Re: A Stroll Across the Beach - Sterling - 02-02-2020 [span style="text-shadow:1.5px 1.5px #087F6A;"]Sterling[/span]
Sterling stopped and let his ears twitch as he head an agreeable voice. Someone with true taste for sure! He turned and was greeted by a little wolfess, his head tilting as she promptly dug up a new shell and brought it over to him. Normally he would be startled by a stranger, but this one had come complete with a peace offering! "Oh but of course this one will surely do, little one!" He smiled, dropping his bucket down to the ground and leaning forward to take the shell she had offered up, lifting it and plopping it down into his bucket. He shifted and sat down, sitting upright as well as he could and looking down at the little wolf as she introduced herself. "Quennel quennel quennel" He repeated a few times, bob tail twitching in the said, leaving a small indent in the grains. "What a lovely name, sweetie. I am Sterling, At your service!" He proclaimed, leaning forward in a sort of bow. He observed her form, glancing over her damp fur and features. "You are looking fairly moist this morning. Lose a fight with a rude wave?" He inquired. Seems Sterling was in the mood for chit chat for sure. A silly little grin graced his maw as he shifted into what one would call, kit attendee mode. Being attentive and tilting his head a bit here and there whenever she would speak. He leaned down towards his bucket and tugged it a bit closer to him, letting it rest in the sand directly beside him. Re: A Stroll Across the Beach - fulzanin - 02-04-2020 Sanzu had gone to the beach a few times before. Once it had been when there had been that mean, nasty fellow that had been about to hurt people. She'd launched herself from a perch and absolutely crushed them under her sheer might! Sure, the young dragon was actually pretty small and had a lot of growing to do. She'd gotten taller since her three month hibernation, but there was a long way to go before she reached her adult size. The beach was pretty and the sand was usually warm. After the cold and horrific winter the young dragon certainly was looking forward to some nice sand to warm herself up with. She wasn't exactly sure if she'd been expecting other people, but was excited nonetheless.
Small talons allowed her form to bound over in a swift manner. She plopped to a halt before the two that were speaking. Startling people wasn't her intention, but her appearances were always done by clumsily scrambling closer. "Sterlin', y' said? I'mmsa Sanzu! It's nice t' meet you!" The small dragon chirped, tipping her head up to look at this newcomer. She hadn't seen him before, had he? Her large ears flicked and pivoted, shifting in their position atop her head. "Are we lookin' f' shells? C'n I help?" Delight rang out in her youthful tone, her tail wagging madly behind her to aid her look of enthusiasm. "I'mmsa never looked for shells before!" Sanzu happily added on, raising back onto her talons. The sand was warm, which was wonderful. Her talons dug at the sand a little, toying with how the grains felt between her sharp claws. today the sun is shining my way TAGS 9/19/19: Re: A Stroll Across the Beach - Mistrim - 02-04-2020 Mistrim just happened to head towards the beach. She was a bit tired out from training although it’s not like people knew she was training at all. Not like she was hiding anything, it’s just that nobody has seen her do it and nobody bothered to ask. So there she was on the beach and it’s no surprise that there were other people there as well. It briefly crossed her mind to turn around and walk away but curiosity got the better of the fox and so she padded over towards them. She left sand with the indents of her prints, tugging at her scarf as she strode closer. She knew some of them, although not very well, and the other one was new. The lynx seemed to be quite an...interesting character. ”Hello?...I’m Mistrim.” She only felt it was fair to introduce herself as she wasn’t sure if any of them knew who she was. Re: A Stroll Across the Beach - nemhain. - 02-04-2020 Oh, it was this fellow. Sterling never failed to confuse Nemhain with the way that he acted, mainly because he didn't seem to have all of his marbles in the right place. When he had "joined" – joined being a loose term, considering they had just sorta said he could stay on the territory given the he was peaceful – he had claimed nothing was wrong with him, yet here he was again, talking to himself. At the very least, it seemed as though he hadn't done anything to warrant any real anger from the persona. After all, he was interacting positively with Quennel and the other children, and that was far better than any alternative to how this scene could go. Still, she felt herself drawn to the little crowd already gathered on the beach, not only because of the danger that the beach currently represented to everyone within Elysium, but because she felt it necessary for this little gathering to have a chaperone. Mistrim could've theoretically acted as one, but the fenghuang didn't know enough about her to trust her, at least not yet. So, the massive bird came to a landing nearby, moving over with quick and elegant footsteps. Once she was there, standing just a bit behind Mistrim, she let her eyes linger on Sterling's bucket, head tilting slightly to one side. After a moment of thought, she chirped deeply, "Sterling... why exactly do you collect things in that bucket of yours?" Theoretically it was possible for the groups around here to have some kind of economy system, but there wasn't one that was very prevalent at the moment, so it wasn't as if he were selling these things. Re: A Stroll Across the Beach - Warringkingdoms - 02-04-2020 [font=trebuchet ms]There was quite a large crowd forming at the beach, between Sterling and Quennel looking for shells, Sanzu asking to help, Mistrim introducing herself, and Nemhain watching all of them. Rin really would've preferred that they keep their distance from the shore, but a quick gaze over the water didn't reveal any unusual shapes. They weren't in immediate danger. Still, Rin kept one eye on the water as she approached. "I'm pretty sure shells have some practical use in construction," she remarked, rather distracted. "Guessing you're not the builder type, though, Sterling." She probably ought to escort them away from the sands soon, just in case. The water showed no signs of hostile creatures so far, but that could change quickly. "You might want to take those back to camp for safekeeping," she said after a few moments. /dunno what this is Re: A Stroll Across the Beach - teef - 02-09-2020 my sweet love

quennel gave a soft little trill of amusement and happiness, her little paws pattering on the sand in delight. "it's a pleasure to meet you, mr. sterling! oh the wave? no, i just like swimming, used to go swimming with my mama and my sister all the time." she murmured happily. tongue swiping sand off of her jaws, her head turned as sanzu, mistrim and nemhain all came over, smiling in vivid greeting, "hello! are you guys here to play and collect shells with us?" she asked with a tip of her head before seeing rin in the background and wagging her tail in greeting to her.
seeing the concern with the water, she frowned and tipped her head to the other side, "i've been playing in the water all morning miss rin, you don't gotta be worried. nothin's happened, and the water's calm." watch the air raids Re: A Stroll Across the Beach - Sterling - 02-09-2020 [span style="text-shadow:1.5px 1.5px #087F6A;"]Sterling[/span]
Seemingly just as he set his bucket down and got settled a rather large green lizard came bounding up to the pair, quickly addressing Sterling by name. What a little eavesdropper! 'Sanzu' "Sanzu, huh? Sanzu Sanzu Sanzu.." He went through his seemingly ritualistic repetition of someones name upon meeting them for the first time. "I am not simply looking for shells, small green one. I am searching for precious treasures! Various pretty and colorful treasures today infact!" He nodded and gestured his paw over the bucket for the little Dragon to take a look inside. "Gaze upon their glory. If you think you are up to the task, by all means help out. Anything you find that catches your eye can be deposited into my bucket here!" Sterling simply encouraged the young ones that seemed to be growing in a group around him. Upon being approached by the small horned winged and feathered fox, Sterling would stand up to get a closer look, curious eyes looking her over as his bob tail twitched some. Another kit? After she introduced herself Sterling would give her forehead a little sniff. He was finding himself oddly intrigued by the strange mutations that many of the denizens of this island seemed to have. "Another new face! Mistrim? Mistrim Mistrim Mistrim.. It's a pleasure! Are you here to help collect shells too?" He tilted his head and gestured with a flick of his paw towards the bucket where Quennel and Sanzu were surely already getting started perhaps. Clearly he was looking at Mistrim as if she were a kit, that overly small size didn't help her case in any way. "You may call me Sterling, At your service!" While embracing all of those latent paternal instincts it seems Sterling was able to calm his head just a small bit, though that small bit seemed to be only just enough to stop him from talking to himself for a moment. Sterling glanced up, ears twitching as the bird landed right behind the new entry. Folks really did seem to swarm atll at once around here didn't they? Not that he minded. "Oh dear, it's the big scary bird once again. In the feathers!" The Lynx seemed to atleast be aware of some semblance of humor in his current state, ears twitching atop his head. When asked about his bucket he stopped, thinking for a moment. He wasn't quite sure either, other than the fact that he simply enjoyed it. His history before the island lead finding small trinkets and objects to giving the Lynx a fairly strong dopamine response; His first caretakers would often praise him for such findings and encouraged the behavior of finding and bringing them objects. This habit turned into something ingrained within him over the years in such a way that even he could not explain. "What else would I use my bucket for if not the treasures of this world? This giant cage has so many pretty things to find!" Sterling quickly moved over to his bucket and shoved his head inside, nosing around for a moment before coming forth with a cobalt blue in color shell, apart for a little sand, it would reflect the light in a rather spectacular way. Carefully holding the end of it between his teeth he proudly walked back over towards the large bird and offered it up. "Here, I'm sure even you can appreciate this one." He gingerly set it down on the ground in front of him, sitting there with a look of pride washing over him. His ears would twitch as the Magna approached, glancing his eyes over the not-a-scarf-salesperson. Sterling would tilt his head a bit. 'Construction'? Sterling had never had a need to build anything, nor had he attempted to in his life. This was a bit of a foreign concept to the feline. Even when he lived in a more out door enclosure like this one here, he always found shelter already made for him. His tail twitched a bit behind him, turning to face Rin completely. "I don't think I quite understand. And if I don't understand.. then you must be correct in my typing." The Lynx nodded, those ears twitching some more atop his head as a breeze rolled in and made his thick fur ruffle up all over. "My bucket is surely the safest place!" He would suggest, this however was completely wrong. Sterling often tripped and spilled out the contents of his bucket, losing everything he had collected. But that was part of the fun now, wasn't it? More room to find more. "Unless you are suggesting there are others in your camp that would appreciate such things. Then on my honor, I Sterling would gladly bring them back and share them among those of great taste." Those of great taste naturally being anyone that would accept a trinket from him. He turned his head as Quennel spoke up to Rin, who was worried? This was a delightful spot for sure, the lynx was surely ignorant to the politics and goings on of the island however. Any amount of tensions and violence currently escaped his own little reality of the world. Re: A Stroll Across the Beach - nemhain. - 02-10-2020 It seemed as though the beach was a fairly popular little hangout at the moment, a fact which didn't fail to surprise Nemhain, who had been under the impression everyone would avoid it until after the Captain had been dealt with. After all, it was a pretty massive threat that was hanging over their head at the moment, and most of them seemed so nonchalant about where they were. Sterling didn't surprise her, since she knew the other probably didn't know about the gods attacking, and even if he had known, he probably wouldn't have cared. Nemhain didn't linger on the thought for all that long, however, since it would've been pretty hypocritical to be too worried about it, considering she was down here as well. She still found herself shifting a little bit uncomfortably when a feeling of worry and anxiety pricked along the back of her neck, a transfer from Rin's weary mind, however. Nem took a deep breath inward to force herself to calm down, sinking her talons into the ground before letting go. The sand shifted in a comfortable way beneath her feet, and she watched as Sterling greeted Sanzu and Mistrim, a soft amused titter leaving her as she saw how delighted and excited Sterling was. It was after this that Sterling's attention was focused on her, and the persona had to stop herself from curling back at the intensity of his excitement. He was always so silly and seemingly not right in the head, so it was difficult for her to really take anything he said seriously. Still, she didn't wish to insult him, so she just chirped softly, "I'm not the big scary bird. You know my name is Nemhain. I've told you..." She shook out her feathers a bit before the lynx spoke up again, and she found herself wondering what the hell Sterling wanted for all of the treasures he was searching for. She clenched and clenched her talons again before speaking, her head cocking over to one side, "The treasures of this world...? I suppose treasure can be pretty, but what do you want the treasures for? Also... do you think we're all living in a big cage? Because we're not." She got a slightly concerned look on her face, wondering what the hell had caused such a mental state, but she was interrupted yet again by him shoving a pretty shell towards her. Blinking down at the shell, she hesitated for a moment before lifting it up in one of her claws, inspecting it before she chirped deeply, in her soft rumbling voice, "This is very... quaint. Nice. It's very pretty, but do you have any purpose to collecting them?" |
