Re: Wild Winds - Joining + O - SirDio - 09-20-2020 Hurricane
"A whole tuna? Wow - that's cool! Biggest thing I've caught was been simple bass." He chuckled, his tail waving slowly. "My unit has this naming theme - at birth, you are named something minor - I was Rain, my brother was Shower. We would train when we hit 8 months, then when we were stronger in a field, like hunting or medical, we were given a stronger name. My brother was given the name of Thunder, and I was named Storm. The stronger we got within that field we chose, the stronger the name we got at 2 years. I was named Hurricane while my brother was named Torrential. Absolute madman, he is." He chuckled to himself - they'd always dare the other to catch a large bass, or even a catfish within the wide rivers - neither one managed to get one of the wise-faced buggers. "In short, at birth we are given a weak name, then as we grow our name becomes stronger and stronger. My dad, the Unit leader alongside my mother, was called Microburst." Re: Wild Winds - Joining + O - RHINESTONE. - 09-20-2020 LEADER ❝ RHINE ❞ PALMCLAN
Hurricane's story of his name and how he received it was certainly interesting, and Rhine found his eyes widening slightly as he listened, splitting his attention between leading the other along and listening to the story. He eventually ended up nodding, a little amused hum leaving him before he explained, "Ah, I suppose that makes sense... Palmclan actually has a similar system, although it isn't exactly the same. From the beginning of life to six months, everyone has a name with a word at the beginning that describes their appearance, or some trait of their personality. Along with this prefix, they had the word kit. So, Stormkit, Frogkit, Foamkit... then, once they hit six months and become apprentices, their suffix changes from kit to paw. And once they hit twelve months and complete their training, they get a new suffix based off of their appearance, or a personality trait, or one of their accomplishments. That's how we signify how far along someone is in their life and what they've done for the clan. My suffix is actually star, because I'm the leader of the group. Whenever a deputy steps up, they replace their suffix with star to signify their new position." Outsiders were prone to having their naming tradition seem odd to them, but Rhinestone had always grown up used to it. The system felt rather straightforward, and also led to many beautiful names, such as his own warrior name – not that he ever regretted going from Rhinestoneeyes to Rhinestonestar.
