OCTOBER COSTUME ART CONTEST

Howdy, howdy, with spooky season around the corner, I thought it'd be fun to have a little art contest where you draw your Typhoon oc in a costume! Anyone who has a character in the Typhoon is free to join if they wish.

This will start as of today, and end next month in November [10-8-22 to 11-8-22]. After that, we'll vote on our favorite submission. There will be a post once voting starts showing all the submitted art to make it easier for viewing.

RULES

? You may ONLY enter one character of yours.
? You can make multiple pieces, but ONLY one can be submitted for the contest.
? If you wish to replace the art you've already submitted with a better drawing, please, fill the form to submit a drawing again with a sentence saying you're switching submissions.
? Other characters are allowed to be in the drawing as well, even those in other groups. It WILL NOT count as different character submissions, and ONLY as the person's oc that is submitting it.
? REQUIRED at minimum to be a colored fullbody sketch. Can be digital OR traditional, quality doesn't matter. We're here to have fun!
? Feel free to offer prizes as well, no form required, just DM me if you wish to offer anything as a prize :O

Howdy, howdy once again! This will be a discussion thread on possible changes to the Typhoon that I'd love to hear feedback on before deciding to implement them <3 PLEASE, feel free to post your thoughts and own ideas on how to improve the Typhoon!

CURRENT IDEAS

? Trickster Tournament ?
* The idea of holding a monthly tournament to see who holds the Title of Ultimate Trickster. I wish to hear your thoughts on this and ideas on whether it should be monthly or every season.
? Writing & Art Contests ?
* To help build our characters, as well as participate in OOC a bit more, I would love to hear feedback on holding contests for prizes on art, writing, and gems!
? Festival of the Sea ?
* This name is a placeholder, but this will be a secondary celebration the Typhoon has, and I would love to hear ideas for activities to add, as well as possible names for it. The main goal of this celebration is to celebrate the ocean, and how it gives the Typhoon it's life.
? Costume Contest ?
* Feedback on the idea of an IC Costume Contest in October, or if it should be an OOC art contest of drawing your Typhooner(s) in costumes and then voting on them.
? Raids ?
* How would we feel about bringing raids into main Typhoon culture? Whether as prank raids or actual raids for supplies/attacking, these will be run more often depending on collected feedback.

— lacking experience with the Cipher family outside of Vayne and Lumia it has grown easier to understand the drive for them both, why they wish to distance or reclaim the name, make it something more. He can understand this want but is also greatly confused as to why they'd allow it when it assists the legacy of such a man, one who readily attacked children and blinded someone for a petty reason

Without experience beyond having seen the aftermath of his attacks Harland has a rather straightforward thought process where Caesar is concerned, he may even be the first he is actually willing to kill of permitted the chance to try

DANNY — ♥ ♥ ♥
"Danny." Stone the name against his tongue, heavy as it pressed against it though it lingered for only a moment. His vision turned, never settled, mouth moving without sound. Finally his voice rose, shakey and broken apart by a cough here and there. "That is something a bit too personal to speak of with a stranger."

— what can be said but it is complicated. Similar to Keona there is the connection of remembrance, his past imposed on another without their desire or knowledge, but with her it is easy to forget and allow his mind time to realise she is not that person. There is none of that time, no chance to reset when Danny is always there, a presence that lingers behind him or he does the same, drawn almost, something there so familiar and yet the changes stark enough his mind wishes to reject the possibility

For now Harland has set upon keeping distant from Danny, finding a way to break that nagging thought, fabricating every excuse he can to keep himself away. But how can he when, in such a short frame of time, this kid has wormed his way through his every wall and has filled a hole he thought filled with cement, never to be occupied by another living person, family even if the word wants to choke him. There is too much to be said, too little time in which to say it, all the possibilities and outcomes staking up and he doesn't want to be wrong

But how can he ignore it when they are matched now, tasted death in an almost mirror. Maybe he can't but Harland is happy in his false ignorance and will allow Danny the chance to decide, though it is a selfish thing for he will never speak of what the choice entails, a blind one that comes with a pair of scissors

KEONA — ♥ ♥ ♥
"I…" For a moment his voice splinters, broken beneath the passage of a gentle sound, a sigh light against the curve of his lips. "She reminds me of… Someone from a while ago." His silence heavy, a weight there that speaks of times both pleasant and horrific. Ears flick, a movement brief, even shorter the wince that he masks beneath the closure of his eyes. "She seems reliable and strong even when the world was so much bigger, found her own way to go about things and came out stronger for it. But, when I look at her, I can only remember someone else and she doesn't deserve that."

— at the moment Harland bears some complicated thoughts where Keona is concerned, though the cause is not her but more who he is reminded of. Something about her presence is very similar, holds a conviction and determination he was once envious of but now finds almost foolish, he can't view her as such, however. In a way he has come full circle and once more bears a small sense of envy as she embodies things he wishes to be but lacks the capacity to become, though it is a lie and one he must be rid of

Beneath that he does carry a high level of respect for Keo, though he still needs time to find his bearings and figure out how exactly to handle himself around her, evident by how often his anxiety tends to worsen in her presence as this is an old face he at least knew of, how could he not know the most integral members of the crew that he was taught was nothing but the enemy. He does wish to get to know her better, to maybe one day deem her a friend, though he'd just as well be happy being alright viewing her as a peer which he does not simply as he does not believe he is on her level, going about it simply escapes him at this moment

VAYNE — ♥ ♥ ♥

His ears perk, strange the twist of his features, light the touch of surprise quickly replaced by the gentle curl of a smile. "She is… Well, words seem too small, she is so much more than she believes she is." Momentary the wander of his attention, thoughts gathered as lip was worried at. "I know part of her story, enough as to why she is in the care of my sister, she might be one of the bravest of children I've met. I'm still not sure I can call her family, not her fault, of course, I just… She deserves a better uncle than my worthless hide."

— while he much more have preferred she was not raised in such an environment by a mother that acted only upon her own interests, and caused some behaviours he noted early on when he first met Vayne, there is no doubt within his mind that she is nothing like her mother, nor has the capacity to become like that. It is no lie when he calls her one of the bravest he has met, it takes a great deal of courage and love to be such, something that is extremely clear in everything she does

As it stands he does wish to get to know her, truly is overjoyed she is apart of the family, but his own doubts and fears tends to push him back. Seeing her cry over Danny, how much it hurt to have almost lost him, it was a kick that finally reminded him how little time they have and will push his efforts to actually understand her more as a person

I will be dropping Zythos and Skoll - I lost steam with them and I've schemed up two new characters based on a story of mine. I know they were gonna be good characters but I rushed them and hadn't had ideas of them that would prove fruitful.

ROXANNE - - - ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
"Every single on of m' aunts that 've had the pleasure o' meetin' (who knows how many there really are) have all been wonderful in their own right. Couldn' place any on any higher pedestal than another, I don' think. So, I won' try to. Aunt Roxie has always been a light for me, comfortin' me n' spendin' time wit' me n' treatin' me jus' as I always wanted t' be treated. Even as a kid, I felt...normal 'round her, like I wasn' some lil' helpless kid. She was one of the first t' my side when...papa was found on the beach that mornin'. She stood by me throughout everythin' she could, n' she showed me how t' have fun, even when I feel like shit. 'm not glad she went away, but if she had to, 'm glad she did it when she did. N' 'm glad she's back now, of all times. She can see me fully realized now, as cheesy as that sounds. N' thas' really rewardin', I think. She's got me an amazin' lil' cousin, too, now, n' 'm proud o' her. I love her, n' I wouldn't trade her for anythin'."
INTERNAL THOUGHTS - - - Very much so what's said. Also, while she doesn't feel good that Roxanne went away, she is grateful that, if it was necessary for her to go, that it happened just before everything awful seemed to break through. She didn't need to feel nervous about Roxanne's well-being when she was being blackmailed and threatened, and she didn't need to live with the guilt of yet another important face seeing that they'd been stolen from her memory. Most of all, she didn't have to see Goldie broken. She didn't have to witness the suffering her niece went through, and for that Goldie is grateful.

SAMANTHA - - - ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
"Oh, Sam? Um, why do ya wanna know 'bout her? Seems a lil' weird t' ask specifically 'bout her. Hmm...but, 'll tell ya this: I do appreciate her, a lot. She's m' friend, thas' for damn sure, n' I lo-ahem, really like hangin' out wit' her. Gave me shelter when I needed it n' looks out for m' well-bein' like I try t' look out for hers. Sam's a cool gal. Got a nice, mutual friendship. N' if you fuck wit' her you're fuckin' wit' me too, pal, so watch it."
INTERNAL THOUGHTS - - - There are many conflicting feelings stirring around Goldie whenever she thinks about Sam in general. She will spend hours rambling out how she enjoys spending time with "her friend in Tanglewood" to her closest friends, but always end it off to make sure she doesn't specifically name Sam and specifies that they are, in fact, friends. It is incredibly hard to admit - in fact, it's terrifying to try to come to terms with the idea that maybe, just maybe, she likes Sam a little more than a friend. She's had a very poor introduction to the idea of intimacy, and she's locked it away for over a year. If she did not think about it, she did not have to feel so afraid or so conflicted. Those feelings were not productive, and she often uses the excuses that she was simply too busy, though she has always made time for family and friends in the past, and that her life was too dangerous to let anyone get that close to her. But, then, what are her closest friends, what are her family? She's had them be threatened to her face, multiple times before, and she knows better than to sit idly by in fear. So, what really will make Goldie realize she's simply afraid? She is intensely fearful of letting someone see her that vulnerable again, of being used again, and of failing all over again. But, the truth is, too, this feels different. It's just a matter of admitting it.

"Tanteri certainly seems...interestin'! I have seen several ancient animals in m' days (mostly feral raptors), but I'd not seen one like him before. It seems like he has a bit t' learn 'bout the current world, but he appears to be receptive t' learnin' so, thas' a good sign. He also was a good sport in the spar, which is somethin' I can always respect! 'd be proud t' have him in battle beside me. I'd like t' speak wit' him more soon, he seems nice enough."
INTERNAL THOUGHTS - - - Pretty much the same as what was said! She doesn't know a lot about Tanteri yet but is eager to interact with him more once things are less chaotic.

HUSHSOUND - - - ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
"Bein' such a big figure for as long as I have, is' hard t' make friends n' put your full trust in folks. I think 've always had a pretty good eye for who t' put my bets on, but I gotta stay 'specially cautious now, bein' capt'n. I've not gotten t' talk t' Hushsound a whole lot since he's joined, but 'm happy t' see 'im when I do. I can tell he's a respectable guy n' he's always pleasant t' be around. There's somethin', too, that's jus' so familial when I get t' use m' sign language t' communicate with him. I would definitely like t' be better friends wit' him once I get more time. I think he's a guy I can really trust, n' 'm sure he's got a lot of experience t' share wit' me, too."
INTERNAL THOUGHTS - - - Goldie honestly associates him a lot with her younger siblings, who she misses dearly, so she finds comfort in speaking with Hushsound. She thinks it's a little silly, especially since she hasn't known him very long, so she doesn't really admit it, but it makes her want to talk more, in their own little language. It's something not a lot share with them and it almost feels safer, more genuine, to sign with him.

EIRNY - - - ♡ ♡
"I've not gotten t' talk t' Eirny yet, like, at all. She was matched up wit' m' aunt for the spars, n' 've seen her face a few times, so I at leas' got some sorta impression from 'em. Pretty cool, I guess. She seems t' be pretty electric, so maybe we could trade some prowess in our mastery of that element. I know 'm always happy t' learn more ways t' use it, n' bein' a thunderbird, she must have some tricks up her...wings. Hope we can talk more soon! Hate bein' so busy I can't even introduce m'self t' m' crewmates properly."
INTERNAL THOUGHTS - - - Same as what was said! She's frustrated that her time is being eaten up so much by outside forces like the Pitt, but is eager to see more from her new crewmate as time goes on.

ex-depeuty turned 'evil' right here, Argus is a pittian fully fledged now and 100% okay with going against the typhoon. If you're looking for a type of plot to further drive your character, either with public humiliation, maiming, or some form of public torture, feel free to just say so below!
