She told Ikaia she knew where home was.  She was not lost. Truthfully, the petite vixen got lost before he even started talking to and their expedition began.  Yet she'd bit the inside of her cheek and announced firmly she knew her way back home, fiercely determined to prove herself a talented explorer like her new friend.

She followed him instead.  With some difficulty, as her bright, hazel hues lost track of him multiple times as he grew too fuzzy to focus on.  Unfortunately, she reached his home far after he did.

She shuffled charcoal paws over each other, glancing around sharply.  Fresh salt air filled her senses; unfamiliar but not unpleasant.  In the distance, waves, moving with the pull of the tide.  With better eyes she might've seen the moon reflected in those waters, not so far away from the tracks.

Instead, she spotted the bells.  Aine stepped back, ears flicking down.  Bells seemed loud.  She didn't want a lot of attention.  Especially late into the night.  She whimpered softly, uncertain before creeping up towards the gate.

Softly, she called out a hesitant, "h-hello?" Would someone hear? Would they be a nice pirate, like Ikaia? Or scary, like their captain?  Aine quickly resumed shuffling her paws, wondering if she'd made a mistake.

She wanted to be home.

[div style="width: 500px; text-align: justify; font-family: constantia; font-size: 9pt; line-height: 1.4;"]"Are you lost, mo pháiste?" The massive dire wolf would not lie; at the little outline of a fox, he'd hoped dearly that the lone figure at the gate might be Suvi.  He knew the hope was vain, though the child did stutter, as his daughter did.  Poor thing.  He knew he might look a little imposing in this form and thought of shifting back to his birth but did not.  Shifting shapes suddenly might frighten her and she already looked anxious enough.

Raziel recognized the unfortunate smell of the Pitt, but she didn't look like a runaway slave.  No, she only looked lost.  Nor did she seem injured or unwell in any way.  She's wandered too far.  As it was, he glanced behind him with some antsy, knowing his younger brother may suggest taking her in, bringing her to their captain.  A Pitt prisoner might be useful.  He could acknowledge that, but he wanted nothing to do with such action.  She likely just wanted her parents.

The two had been patrolling, as Raziel became prone to do late when he could not sleep.  Restlessness and growing frustration with his daughter's absence kept him awake and moving.  Patience was a virtue, one that he tried to keep to, but sometimes too much time past.

"I'm not going to hurt you." He offered gently, lowering himself to the ground close by, but maintaining a respectful distance.  "My name's Raziel, little one, what's yours?"

KIAN Ó FAOLÁIN — sing me a symphony, one for the lost and in-between
"Raz?" The pirate huffed as he turned and began tailing his older brother, tail flicking.  His own sea-green eyes gleamed brightly in the dark, and he jumped into the trees to make the distance quicker.  Smoothly jumping across branches, he caught up with some surprise at catching scent of the Pitt in the wind.

He crouched on his branch, leaned forward to watch as Raziel took the first approach.  He frowned, realizing the Pittian at the gate happened to be a young child.  Cad é an ifreann?

The Irishman sighed then jumped down, landing silently beside Raziel.  "... I'm Kian." He threw his brother a suspicious look, guessing he might suggest something dumb, like escorting the child back home. Maybe they could use her to bargain -- get Suvi back.  Did that occur to the older fae?  Probably.  And he's probably ignoring the idea entirely.

He flicked his tail and decided he might as well help too if that was Raziel's plan.  "Who're your parents, little one? We'll take you back to them.  We know the way." And hopefully we won't get ourselves killed.

Aine's eyes widened like moons, thankful he kept low least she stretch her neck just to meet his eyes.  She bit the inside of her cheek anxiously but she relaxed almost instantously when he spoke her father's language.  That's Gaelic.

"T-Tá!  Aine is ainm dom. Tá mé ag iarraidh a dhul abhaile."

Her head shot up towards the trees as another pirate appeared, jumping down from above.  A smaller cat.  The shape she met Ikaia in had been small like that too, but she could tell they were different.  She kneaded her paws into the ground, then decided to speak again.  These two pirates seemed nice.

"Is é ainm mo dhaid ná Gael," she murmured.  Da's probably not happy.  He's probably really worried, she realized guiltily.  "W-Will ya really t-take me back?" She knew better now, of course, that sometimes grown-ups deceived.  Their captain had seemed nice at first afterall, before the fire started.

"I-I'm sorry if I'm an-any trouble, r-really." She added earnestly, glancing down at her paws.  "I didn't mean to get so lost.  I-I'll stick real close and everythin', promise."

KIAN Ó FAOLÁIN — sing me a symphony, one for the lost and in-between
The Irishman blinked, pleasantly surprised to find the child fluent in Gaelic of all languages.  He let out a bewildered chuckle, shaking his head in disbelief.  As Raziel thought, she just wanted to go home.  Kian felt his heart clench.  He could hardly say no to that.  "Hey, its alright kid.  We'll get you home."

"Gael?" And she's a little fox with a tongue for Gaelic. He nearly choked on his words, raising his brow briefly at his brother.  "Ó Broin?Cad é an ifreann?  Kian grit his teeth, recalling vividly old family gatherings from centuries past.  Cousins but more like brothers and good friends, he missed Gael and the fox's family.

Gael's with the Pitt? Of all places, why there?  What had drawn the fox out of their homeland and into the Pitt? Did he know where his family stood? Cad é an ifreann? What game did his cousin think he was playing if he did know?  He's just like Seamus sometimes.

Kian glanced at Raziel, gluing together the missing pieces.  He recalled, vaguely, the news of his cousin's children. An older son and younger daughter.  A loving wife.  He'd bet money Aine knew some French along with her English and Gaelic.  His spotted tail lashed once behind him.  He brought his daughter to the Pitt.

No, that's good though... Gael still cares about his family more than anything.  Maybe...  "Well, Aine.  It so happens your da is our cousin," he announced matter-of-factly.

"We'd be more than happy to bring ya back to him." Except, Kian had a mind to bargain.  He doubted his brother would approve, but he knew Gael, like them, would do anything for his children.  Trading Aine for Suvi would be more than fair, given how long she'd been a captive of the Pitt.

"Would ya like to wait for mornin' or go now?" While he spoke facing towards Aine, he meant the inquiry for both.  Together, he supposed they could hide her somewhere but he hardly wanted to get into trouble with Goldie by getting caught hiding a little Pittian behind her back.  Going in the middle of the night is still going behind her back but at least we wouldn't be hiding her under our roof.

Kian respected his young captain all and well, but this was a family matter now.  They could take care of it themselves.

It's relief he feels as his younger brother immediately jumps on board the escorting concept, but when names are out he grows nervous.  Gael? Of all the Fae out there, it had to be Gael?  The surprise and warm feelings from the child's own Gaelic speech soon dissipate. Of course it's Gael.

He narrows his eyes on Kian lightning-fast, holding back a scowl.  "Schming is unbecoming of you, deartháir.  Leave it to your twin." He could see the gears turning; worse, he had a feeling he had the very same thoughts.  Regardless, he rebuked his brother with a barely withheld sigh.

Kindly, he regards Aine once again, wary of ever using children as bargaining cards amongst parents.  It was, unfortunately, the obvious step in a situation like this.  He doubted such an opportunity would just walk up to him again. Raziel lacked the often grayer moral code a pirate.  Using Aine against Gael was not an option in his mind, even if it did make logical sense.

Kian would.  His brother would do anything for his daughter.  I would walk to the ends of the earth and the depths of hell for Suvi.  But could he use this lost little child against his own family, Gael?  He shuffled his paws uneasily and sighed.  Focusing on the first and foremost matter, he smiled at Aine again.  "Personally, I believe we should make haste.  If you are tired or grow tired, little one, I can carry you.  You are no bother, mo pháiste."

Goldie needn't know of the little expedition, and if she found out, it'd be because they brought Suvi back somehow along the way.  Patience is a virtue.  If things go well, maybe they would have her back at the end of this.

"And yes, if you like, you may call me Uncail Raziel.  I do not mind."
