reflection -- bonfire - Straw - 06-06-2019 Sticks were not hard to gather, luckily. Plenty of old twigs and branches were scattered on the forest floor, ripe for the taking. Straw had taken a few basketfuls of wood to the center of the town square, and piled them up high. They would burn quickly, but it would do the job. The moon had risen over the horizon, the sun long since gone, so it was about time to start the fire. Glancing at the pile of wood, Straw furrowed her brows. It was only now that she realized she had no way to light the fire. "Uh, does anyone..." she mumbled, looking around and adjusting her mask with one paw. "Can anyone start fires?" LIGHTS GO OUT AND ALL I SEE— "hello straw." lilja greeted, hearing, whom she considered her friend, call for assistance. she could certainly start a fire for a good friend. "i'll help you. let me get some dry grass for it to catch better, i'll be right back." she reassured, leaving briefly. she returned with a few dry stalks sunbaked grass in her jaws, dropping them over the piled pieces of wood. she reached into her satchel afterward and pulled out her flint and steel kit. "okay, step back a bit okay? i don't want any sparks to hit you." lilja carefully held the steel bar and flint rock, scratching them together multiple times before the flames came alight, slowly engulfing the pile. "ta-da!" she jumped back with a smile, putting her kit back inside her satchel and looking to straw. "is there anything else you need done?" —ARE THOSE EYES, A WOLVERINE Re: reflection -- bonfire - Straw - 06-12-2019 At Lilja's approach and greeting, Straw glanced over and nodded in a silent hello. She suggested dry grass for kindling, which was a great idea now that Straw thought about it. Twigs didn't catch easily, unless you had a flamethrower or something equally ridiculous, which Straw had neither possession of nor any idea how to use. When Lilja returned with kindling and a warning, Straw stepped back. Watching Lilja use the flint and steel, though, she raised her brows. It was that simple? Well, "simple" probably wasn't the right word given how many times Lilja had to spark it, but still, she'd somehow never noticed that you could start a fire by striking a rock and a metal piece together. The flames burst into the air, and Straw nodded in approval. Lilja asked if she needed anything else... did she? Glancing down at the ground, she thought for a moment, then shrugged. "Something to toast- if you want," she answered, looking back at her. "I'm fine." Re: reflection -- bonfire - | KILLUA ZOLDYCK | - 06-20-2019 [shadow=darkblue,right]KILLUA[/shadow]
.
Killua enjoyed fire from time to time. He wasn't capable of using fire elementals, but he had a better alternative to it. However, fire could also be dangerous, as it was to most objects that existed in the world. His metal claws were more than capable of being melted at high temperatures and in a fight if someone were to target his claws he would have a difficult time. Killua never really used his mouth to attack someone, instead of resorting to using his claws or other weapons to deal damage to enemies. There were some animals that feared fire, and they had a right to as it could easily kill anything that it touches. He remembered there were a couple of fires that they had to deal with in the group that he sheltered in for a little bit. Maybe it was one of the reasons why he liked to stay in places that were almost covered in snow all of the time. He remembered standing around a fire and there was usually food that was provided for them. The only reason he went to most events in the first place was that there was food and nothing else. One could easily notice that he wasn't the most sociable in the world, and he had his reasons to be. Killua came back to camp in order to put his albino black mamba companion in the place where Stark was staying. The assassin wasn't just going to leave him out in the open to get in trouble or have a larger predator try to eat him. Although most predators didn't exactly like to tangle with a black mamba on the best of days. Once he had Koru settled, Killua was going to start heading out to see if he could find anything interesting to do. The wildcat turned himself around when movement caught his eye. He turned his head to see Straw carrying bundles of wood to the middle of the camp, and then Lilja helping them set a fire.
He noticed the flint and steel and was certainly impressed that the canine was able to hold the items steady enough to get a flame. He wondered what was also in that satchel of hers, as it seemed to act just like Amorettes raincoat, as she could pull almost anything out of the raincoat in a moments notice that was appropriate to the situation. Interested if there was an event going or not, as it seemed like Straw was doing a lot of them, Killua began to make his way over. His movements remained silent as he approached the two, his enhanced senses catching onto the last bit of their conversation. Roasting something? A grin spread across the assassin's jaws as he stopped a the opposite end of the fire where the other two were standing. "I have the perfect thing." Killua said as he raised one of his unsheathed paws and conjured up a pack of marshmallows. He was perfectly fine with eating any sort of human food, although he wasn't sure if the rest of the animals that lived in Elysium knew what marshmallows were. Slicing open the bag easily with his claws, he grabbed a marshmallow and a nearby stick. He impaled the marshmallow on the stick and began to hold it over the fire for a couple of seconds, keeping it just above the flames so that the sweet treat began to turn golden. After about a minute, he took the marshmallow from the fire and ate it from the stick, a satisfying hum escaping his jaws. He quickly picked another one out of the bag and impaled another marshmallow, before tossing the bag over toward Straw and Lilja. "But Straw, it seems like you're doing most of the work around here doesn't it?" Killua brought up offhandedly after he finished swallowing the roast marshmallow. He wore a neutral expression as he looked at the skull wearing red panda. elysium -- apprentice -- male -- 10 moons [sub]template © olivan

Emphasis on somewhat. She'd gotten used to the surprise appearances, at least. Turning her head to glance at him and the bag of marshmallows that had spontaneously materialized in his paw, she blinked. Marshmallows were really tasty when toasted, that was true. When Killua gave her the bag, she took out a marshmallow and stuck it on the end of a spare stick, then cautiously held the stick between her paws over the fire. Having pseudo-thumbs was a blessing she really ought to appreciate more. Ly would've lectured her for "being too good to hold the stick in your mouth like the rest of us," but it wasn't like Ly never used her thumbs. They were too useful not to take advantage of. "Doing most of the work" was an exaggeration. "Not really," she commented, turning the stick slightly to expose the other half of the marshmallow to flames. She didn't like them burnt to ash like Quince did, but a nice brown with tinges of black was best. "Doing as I'm asked. Lilja, Kade, Tena- they're doing things too." |
