VODKA ON ICE && luca - idyllfields - 06-05-2019 idyllfields stars did fall there was something still foreign about living so close to the ocean for idyll. disregarding the fact they were petrified of it and any sizable body of water along with the fact they were traumatized from entering most area's with them. idyll was still capable of enjoying the beach just... very distant from the crashing waves and closer to the tree line surrounding it. the atmosphere it held was entirely different from pictures or brochures. the smell of the salt and sand was a whole different experience compared to the mountains and forest area they lived in almost their entire life. no more thick pine scents during cold winters. no more bitter breezes with the scent of a fire from the hearth laced with it. it wasn't as though idyllfields didn't like the tropical temperatures and lifestyle. it was just hard to realize that what they had become so accustomed to for so long was no longer there. just a husk of a childhood home, now. was it still home? in some part of their heart and mind, yes. the typhoon was also a home, though. they had built one. had gone through their hazing tactics and powered through their initiation. they wore their bracelet every day, only taking it off at night to put on their bedside table. it gave them a strange source of comfort, knowing that had come this far through their travels away from the homeland. the coyote had to suddenly stop, their thoughts colliding with their realization that they had wandered too far into the beach and had begun to enter wet sand. the kind that clung to their legs and tried dragging them down within. idyll would have quickly up and fled to safer grounds, but their eyes were locked onto the encroaching waves. each crash coming toward them, but only just reaching inches away from their paws. their mouth went dry and their body rigid, the only thing moving was their trembling tail and nose. frozen in shock while the sand continued to drag them down inch by inch. [member=1517]LUCA[/member] Re: VODKA ON ICE && luca - Luca - 08-11-2019 Luca had never been very fond of the ocean himself. His first memories of salty air and crashing waves were solidified during the very first years of his life, the ones in which his mother attempted to flee their native home via boat. She had managed to in the end, fleeing the violence and other criminal activities. Look where it had gotten them though; smack bang in the middle of more criminal activity, perhaps even more egregious than those they were running from. He wondered if she regretted it now. Probably, even though it was the most logical thing to do in her situation. After all, whenever anything bad happened it was only natural to think about what you could have done differently. But all that was besides the point. What mattered was the fact that memories forged in those types of situations were rarely regarded fondly. Those times were the foundation for his future memories of the ocean, the building blocks for a looming wall of distaste and unease. What didn't help in the slightest were all those times he was held beneath the water by cruel and violent hands. He had met his end many times in the water, because it was common knowledge by now that he was practically useless when he couldn't use his powers. Fire's greatest enemy was water, right? The wet sand fizzled beneath the embers that coated his paw pads. He liked that sound quite a lot, the feeling of steam buffeting his paws as he triumphed over his one true enemy. It was satisfying, empowering. He was so caught up in the gentle rhythm of the crunch and hiss that he almost didn't notice the frozen form of Idyll. The only thing that stopped him from walking right into them was pure luck. He looked up from his paws just in time to see them in front of him, and came to a screeching stop only a couple hair-lengths away. He stared at them through the dark glass of his mask, and then turned his head to watch the tide creeping closer and closer. A cloud of pink steam billowed from his mask, a by-product of his amused huff. "What's up with you, Starlight? Sirens got'cha?" He asked half-jokingly, attempting to give them a gentle bump with his hips. — burn with me, heaven's on fire Re: VODKA ON ICE && luca - idyllfields - 08-16-2019 idyllfields stars did fall from an outsider's perspective, the reaction to molasses-speed sand and creeping waves was entirely overdramatic. later on it would come to no surprise that idyll would feel embarrassed for behaving so childish for acting so frigidly on their phobia. while their gaze looked out into the sea, their vision was clouded with the murky water from the creek by their old home. the feeling of water filling their lungs and nose. the burning as they felt themselves growing cold and weaker from the current dragging them back and forth. they gasped for air when luca bumped them, coughing as if the water was still there. their throat felt dry, still, slowly regaining recognition of where they were. they backed up a few steps from where they had been before and shook off the wet sand from their legs with a grunt. then, looking to luca, suddenly confused. "did... did you call me starlight?" they stammered, tail twitching nervously. "i-ah... sorry. i normally do not let myself come this close to the water." idyll attempted to regain their posture but couldn't hide their twitching tail. "i was thinking. about some things. then i ended up... here... do i- can i help you, luca?" quick to change the subject, idyll was not looking to explaining exactly what their thoughts had been about. they would rather move on... perhaps physically move on to drier land as well. |
