it's the circle of life [ramona] - Kydobi - 05-14-2019 [align=center] Better to be hurt by the truth than comforted by a lie -
♕tags-powers♕ [OOC: if you don't mind I'm gonna have them already there. [member=3295]ramona.[/member] ] "Alright Ramona. This was the area." He had spotted a nice little herd of deer. And while deer was not the choice prey of jaguars, it would make do. The speed and graceful creatures would really test both of them. They each had their strengths and weakness, he hope they could balance them out. Plus jaguars were solitary hunters so this should be interesting But chances were they would return empty handed. Even then it would be a hassle to drag the quarry home. Kydobi looked around. There was sparse trees, here and there. Tall grass. A little stream. But mostly open fields and at the heart of it was the small herd. about 4 or 5 deers. "Okay.." he whispered, "Smell them. Drink their scent. Pick one. Have a good reason though. The weakest. The smallest. All viable points." He would crouch down, hoping she mirrored him. Re: it's the circle of life [ramona] - teef - 05-15-2019 RAMONA LINGRÉ ✯ — THE GROWN UPS TAUGHT ME TO WATCH AND LEARN

hunting, something she never had the chance to do before. and now, she was able to do it, especially with her dad. she loved that, really, being able to call him dad. nodding wordlessly, she crouched low after scenting the wind and observing it, leading the way to a position that dragged the scent of the herbivores her way. she stayed low in the grass, feeling the thrill beginning to spiral up her spine, muzzle firmly closed to keep from panting, tension awakening each muscle in her limbs, focused on her prey some distance away. eyes darting at every movement she waited, observing, learning.
her eyes flitted over a mother and her newborn, going to the buck, studying his limp, darting to the newborn, thinking. a mother would be sure to protect her baby, that's part of why the baby was able to stand up quickly, made for running from predators like her. moving as silently as she could manage, ramona crept a bit closer and stiffened as she picked up a new scent, changing course away from the herd, into the grass. she had caught the scent of age and death. a dying doe lay not far away, too weak to even bleat for her herd. Ramona looked back at kydobi for a second, debating, thinking. she would leave the old doe to kydobi's claws, continuing to her missive. her gaze carried over a young buck who would be challenging the older buck for herd leadership and mating rights soon enough. she found the next, a hobbled old doe not far from the herd, grazing more slowly. her legs were covered in scars, a lifetime of fighting and escaping from predators. she wouldn't take on a seasoned doe or buck, she didn't feel like being gored. so it was going to be the newborn or the sickly doe behind her. life was brutal, after all, and it gave you hard choices. the newborn was likely going to be killed by the young buck if he could get the mother. maybe, if she was lucky, she could wait until the youth had had enough. the tensions in the feeding group were obvious enough to her. space

♕tags-powers♕ [OOC: ] He watched her eyes move and observe the herd. The injured male. The sickly doe. The newborn. The young buck. All so many choices. "I personally never go for the bucks. They're what keeps the herd intact and safe. Nor do I go for mothers. Their babies will die." He looked in the direction of the injured and weak one, "Sometimes, it's best to kill the sick. Mercy killing. She is probably in pain and will be abandoned by her herd eventually. She'll starve or worse succumb in the worst way." He flicked his tail, "Okay. I'm unsure how to go about this. Do you want to hunt as a team, meaning you lead it to me in an ambush. Or do you want us to go together so I can teach you how to hunt on your own?" looking back quietly, thinking and deciding. "if we can't take down any of the others, we can take the sickly one.", she decided as she looked back at the small herd, "I'll drive them in toward you. I'm going to hassle the herd towards the far side of the field. the wind is going to change soon so we have to move quickly. are we going into this with the intent to get prey, or to go home without anything?"

♕tags-powers♕ [OOC: ] Kydobi gave a curt nod, "Okay. And I intend on taking it down and giving it to the Rosebloods. They're low on food as of late." He hoped she wouldn't mind, but he felt obligated to assist his friend, "Besides we have plenty of food in the jungle. And it is much more rewarding and gratifying to assist someone in need. Good deeds often leave us feeling better unlike self satisfying greed." He flicked his tail as a signal to move, and headed towards the way destination. Muscles working to move silently. ram gave a soft nod, agreeing it seemed, "can I go with you? I want to see the big dragon again.", she murmured in a yawn, stretching to loosen her muscles before departing and working her way up alongside the group of deer, trusting kydobi to be ready to intercept the herd.
finding her wanted location, ram licked her lips and stalked the herd, grateful for the wind to just be blowing over the deer, not touching either of the two hunting them. getting close enough, she crouched lower and crept slowly outwards, her tail still and wagging gently, lips curled back in silence as she crept up behind the deer, just as the wind changed again and pushed her scent into the herd, driving them into flight mode, the half breed doing her best to herd the group towards kydobi's spot. space

♕tags-powers♕ [OOC: ] Luckily when the wind shifted it blew Ram's and the herds scent towards Kydobi. He inhaled deeply. Keeping his eye on the weak doe. Naturally she was lagging behind. It was fine, but not too much to where the Borzoi could outrun her. He lowered himself, flexing and relaxing his muscles. Building tension. There wasn't really a thundering of hooves, deers were lithe and light creatures, more like a gentle bump and tap of hooves on the soft earth. They would be coming around his way soon. Naturally the jaguar would keep adjust himself to meet the doe when she came. He would do what he knew. That meant meeting her head on. He knew what he would do, leap from the bushes straight up, grip her shoulders with her claws, and sink his canines deep into her throat and not let go. "C'mon...c'mon.",he whispered he was keeping focus, slowly easing into his primal nature. so much damned running! ah well, she needed the practice, she supposed.
pushing the herd towards kydobi, breaking off the sickly doe from the main body of the herd and towards her adopted family, nipping at the weak legs when in proper range, teeth catching in the flesh and clipping a vein, making the doe stumble and try to put more distance between them. space
