level one -- hide and seek - ikaia - 04-30-2019

It started with the douse of boredom fresh in the morning.  A restless eagerness to do something.  The elusive oncilla had been keeping himself busy outside of view, but that only lasted so long.  His paws shuffled.  His ears and tail twitched. So.  Bored.  He needed to do something, something fun.

"Hey!" He raised his voice high, loud and clear.  "Does anyone wanna play hide-n-seek with me?" Above all things, Ikaia was still a young boy.  He did not age with time, so much as in spirit and with maturity.  Still very much a child, he sought the one thing he knew to fix boredom best; a game.

hide and seek... not something idyll was familiar with, but could guess based on the context. they assumed it was a game where an item was hidden, and had to follow hints to find said item. right? that had to make sense.

"i can play!" the coyote piped up as they came closer to ikaia, a lopsided smile on their face.

Hide-n-seek belonged to children.  Or those still child at heart.  The pirate smiled with an absent-mindedness as he trotted towards Ikaia's call.  "I'll play lad," he offered brightly.  "Who'll be countin' first?"

If Kian recalled correctly, quite a few variants of hide-n-seek existed, but if Ikaia sought out a classic game, then he knew what was what.  However simple the concept of hide-n-seek was, it was still very entertaining.

A familiar-sounding game.  Vine-wrapped paws stepped forward, dark eyes gleaming from behind the sockets of a pumpkin.  The dark feline's tail curled up absently.  Old memories danced in his mind.  Each of his siblings was their own masters of hide-n-seek.  Two often hid among the plants, calling upon their abilities to completely camouflage like the cheaters they were.  His dark pelt served him well enough.

"I'll play," the boy announces, his voice slightly muffled.  The trace of a smile sat on his lips.  He wondered how good at the game his crewmates were.  They would soon find out.

The boy's eyes glowed happily.  "Great!" A good number was being presented to him.  Brightly, his gaze flashed up to Kian, brow creasing.  "I'll seek first," he decided.  It was his idea to play after all.  "You all hide."

"And I'll count to..." How long did they need?  The island was large.  Worse, how long would be efficient in preventing him from scouring the entire island because that would simply take too long.  "30.  I'll count to 30, starting... Now." He placed a paw over his eyes for dramatic effect, barely covering up the grin still on his face.

"30... 29... 28..."

"you all hide" - oh? oh! they hid! idyll had wasted probably five, six seconds figuring that out. the eastern coyote rolled their eyes at themselves before bolting away from the youngster. there was plenty across the beach; they decided some bit of shipwreck that had washed up would do enough. it looked to be the pointed end of the bow, standing straight up toward the sky.

they took the chance. darting ahead and digging into the sand to curl up underneath the broken boards of the piece of wreck. they kept their breathing slow and body curled as close as possible, adamant not to be found at least right off the bat.

might be an unfair advantage here

or well thats what the frankly huge dragon thought, but ah, he was a good sport and would participate if only so his fellow clanmates kept happy - so he lightly (surprisingly stealthy for being so massive) stepped some distance away and nestled between various trees, curling in on himself until he somewhat resembled a suspiciously obsidian rock structure.

amazing stealth, frankly.

Last time the game had been tag.  Difficult, in that she had to run and running was not an entirely comfortable activity for the child.  She liked to be sure of her surroundings before putting on any sort of burst of speed, least she trip or run into something.  Hiding seemed easier.  So upon hearing her friend's call and realizing she had to make up time, the petite fae scrambled away.

She could, she thinks, hide behind Lucifer, whom she only noticed due to a subconscious feeling of his aura.  That seemed a little unfair however -- if Ikaia found her, likely, he'd also find Lucifer in the process.  Well then.

The privateer instead spun the other direction, opting to hide in the shadow of the turtle statue, Tofu.  She was tiny, which meant borrowing into the sand proved a rather easy feat.  So, with her head sticking out of the sand, Keona hid consumed by the beach, beside the familiar statue.  Hopefully this worked.
