There was one reason and one reason only that he had to come back to this forsaken place. During his travels to the jungle he had come across a group, scented them? yes. Interacted with them? no. So there was nothing quite solid to back his theory or idea of a group here other than a scent. But in the animal world a scent was often better than sight.

So here he was galloping lightly across the desert floor. His once tar legs coated in a dusty facade. He tried not to leave each food on the scalding earth for too long. As overwhelming as the volcano, there was certainly a more ruthless nature of the sun in these parts than anywhere else.

He would come in peace and on the quest for knowledge. His demeanor would show no hostility and should he come across any a respectful tone would be maintained. For this was there land was it not? And perhaps such mannerisms were not common amongst the Pittians but he was not necessarily of them now was he? At least he didn't quite feel it yet. Maybe he was cautious about throwing himself into something once more. But anyhow he carried the faint scent of the Pitt.

a figure would hail him from on high, a massive twining serpentine body descending from the heights far above. a golden oriental dragon decorated in silvery battle scars would land not far from him, letting the sand settle before they crawled over the ground to meet him.

bai shi had scented the pitt's stench from high above, and it had only brought back horrible memories from the battles that had happened not long before now, and reminded them of the loss of sephiroth. they were in no shape or form pleased to deal with a member of the pitt, but they still held theirself with kindness even with open hostility.

"do state your name, fair sir. you have come upon the border of the rosebloods and at this time, we are not allowing others in." a bluff, but he wouldn't possibly know that. the group was more desperate than ever for others to join.

"i am bai shi, the second in command to the rosebloods." they introduced themselves with a dip of their head, pale blue eyes fixated on the dark male, their mane ruffled and out of place, not groomed properly, a sign of their grief for the missing and dead.

A rather grand and ornate creature would glide before him. Its body coiling around the air was enough to amaze anyone. However the sun violently reflected off of the creature's metallic plates causing Kydobi to avert his eyes.

For a moment he feared that the giant serpent would attack, and how would be able to possibly survive? Outrun it? No. That was out of the question. But instead when all settle they approached him with neutrality. More than the Typhoon folks had.

"Hello [member=2039]bai shi.[/member] , I am Kydobi. New to the Pitt and I was just wanting to understand who surrounded me.", his tone was respectful and completely unaware of the bloody battle between his current group and the dragon's before him.

Kydobi's fiery hues looked over at the creature's mane. It was unkempt and it slightly bothered him. He had the urge to bath himself, which he most certainly would do when he came home. He hated being dirty for too long.

a slow rumble of amusement answered his words, their laughter deep yet not mocking. their demeanor softened a small amount as they allowed themselves an exhausted exhale.

"be wary the grounds you tread, my boy. not many are pleased to have a stranger on their border bearing the scent of the pitt. we are at war, our groups, yours and mine. i know nothing of the pitt's affairs with other groups, but the ground weeps blood between us."

they look him over, sensing his differences, causing them to comment, "your personality does not mesh with their loyalties and morals, if they have any. if you find the pitt boring, feel free to stop by here and see if we fit your bill. it would be rather rude to not offer, but do you want some water and shade to rest in?"

Where were the rest? On his previous adventures, when there was one more usually followed quickly. But the feline supposed that few would want to leave the cool abode of the ruins. Either way they showed off one of their greatest assets with the golden dragon.

He noticed that they addressed him as "boy", whether it was condescending cause of his size or his age the obsidian cat couldn't quite tell. But it didn't bother him, he knew he was prone to addressing those smaller than him in similar ways.

Kydobi couldn't deny his slight surprise when they told him of the recent battle. He had caught onto the fact that he had joined a rather... ambitious group but he did not quite realize how recent they had been to war.

"Well that makes your kindness all the more valuable. I'm sorry. It seems I learned too late of their nature only after I had given my word. While the offer is inviting, I can't go back on my promise of loyalty...", Kydobi felt that he rather liked Bai Shi, "May we never meet in battle."

But truth be told, Kydobi slightly doubted Jervis' ability to rule. Why would you make enemies with your neighbor? That was foolish. If anything use them as a buffer! But the knew that his reign wouldn't last long, men like him never did. Enemies accumulate. Each tugging and pulling till you fell.

He looked at the dragon, "If you don't mind, I'd like that very much.". He supposed their word's were a compliment of his morals. But the fact that he wouldn't leave... might say something. Stupidity? Blind loyalty? Well he was very aware.

"Don't tell other's but I hope to rise up and advise Jervis of wiser decisions.... Or he'll surely die before he can make right.", his intentions were good, "But he may be... hooked on the power. But I'll try.", he never ever spoke of stuff such with anyone... But something about Bai Shi seemed virtuous and inherently good. Maybe he was a fool.

their eyes entertained a degree of amusement gained from years of wisdom, plain and simple. sweeping their gaze over the vacant surrounds they dipped their head, and let a tired breath leave them, their muzzle twisted gently into a relaxed state.

shaking out their mane, bai shi relaxed, settling comfortably, shifting over to one side to allow him entrance to their territory, letting out a rumble of surprise, having aggravated a wound that they didn't know they had received. they kept moving, pushing away the sparks of pain, focused more on their conversation with kydobi.

"loyalty is a valued asset these days, for everyone. it can keep one from a blade sliding into the back and it can help take the head of a tyrant. a double-sided coin, yet with too much loyalty ... danger stalks those who blanket themselves in loyalty and respect, turning a blind eye on deceit and the enemies creeping in under the cover of false loyalties.", bai shi murmured, finding that the male was in the right set of mind, one that they could agree with.

they chuckled and gave a simple shake of the head, "it is often best to keep your friends close but your enemies closer, as the saying goes. ah, a battle is not something i should wish to meet another in, i have seen enough war in my years, even if my family is cursed by chaos and battle."

"secrets shared on boundaries are safeguarded by eternity. you have my word, and my support. i pray that jervis is not the same as his predecessors with their starvation for power and their aggressive attitude towards all. you sleep in a snake's den, my boy.", they spoke as they lead him into the territory of the rosebloods, into the ruins, mainly towards a dilapidated building that was large enough to shelter their body.

"i wish to show you something, if you trust me enough. your voice tells of your surprise to hear of what has happened in the past between our groups, but you are wise enough to accept it. your wisdom will help you a deal when trying to guide a madman. here, we can rest within this structure. it is good that you want to guide him. ah. feel free to call me lynn, bai shi is my formal name." they enter the building through a large entrance on the roof, settling in the corner of the large building that resembled a training course away from their corner. they laid upon a nest, a few ovaline shapes within their nest, pressed to their body in a protective manner.

call them a fool for bringing a potential enemy into their den, but they were easily capable of intercepting any attacks. their gaze fell over a few npc children playing around in the course, relaxed as they observed the youths, "the future of our groups lay on their shoulders, a burden that they have no knowledge of yet. ah, the watering area is on the east wall, not too far from here. just a few paces and you shall see it."

To say they were wise was an understatement. To say they were aged was an understatement. Everything about them screamed ancient knowledge and experience. The idea of [member=2039]bai shi.[/member]  ever being youthful was beyond him, were beings like them ever brash and wild? Possibly but it seemed as if they never were such.

Because of this Kydobi listened to their words with his mind and heart paying dear attention. What he said was true, it was a warning but not necessarily the kind that made you want to defy its possibility. For it was true.

And he knew it.

But he had yet to witness anything terrible. No murders. No betrayal. Sad to know that his group was the one causing strife. How many were killed? There wasn't a whole lot in his tribe. And so many were small.... What damage could they really do? Kydobi suddenly realized that he may be the weakest of them all. For how could Jervis and his people be so formidable? Powers... Trickery... Hmm.

"secrets shared on boundaries are safeguarded by eternity. you have my word and my support..."

Kydobi sighed, he hoped he could just cause peace. But he did not really care as much as he had made it out to seem. Harmony was only desired so he could finally rest somewhere without chaos. If he failed he failed, but he wasn't at fault yet. Truth be told he had only spoken to Jervis once. He would need to play less defense and more on the offense. Chase conversations and interactions with the sly fox.

If all went wrong he could always become a loner again.

"you sleep in a snake's den, my boy"

I actually prefer high above the branches,  it was a joke and he was glad he did not speak it for now it seemed disrespectful. But snakes couldn't climb could they? Eh.

Bai Shi was a kind creature, one that evoked trust from another. But what he has told them was a stupid decision and so he would be more careful now on. For now he looked around him as they walked, there was small settlements of clay with imperfect asymmetry. They contrasted with the straight edged temple. So meticulously crafted and designed.

The pillars and even the carvings. However Kydobi followed the dragon into another one. There he would see children play... It just occurred to him that there wasn't really youth in the Pitt unless kidnapped for ransom. Kydobi sighed, he never really cared for kids anyways. His mind briefly thought back to his mother's newer litter, it was a very tender topic and he quickly fled acknowledging it.

What he did acknowledge was how much at a disadvantage he was at. Yes, he felt like an intruder. Like an imposter for being allowed into the heart of the territory. Some were sleeping. Some were at play. And how many were doing neither? How many were dead because of the Pitt? Possibly none. How many Pittians were dead? Possibly none. But the logician knew that was far fetched.

Sure Bai Shi was kind or perhaps they were just wiser than most to cause unnecessary violence.  What if they had plans to use him for ransom? It wouldn't be unheard of, surely not all of the Rosebloods were of the same nature as their dragon counter-part.

Kydobi looked in the direction of the watering area, he gave Bai Shi and expecting look. Did they want him to head there on his own? But he got up and walked carefully and lightly trying not to draw too much attention to himself. Lowering himself he drank till his thirst was quenched and then some for the travel across back to the jungle.

He headed back to them and sat. It was nice here.

"You know Bai Sh-, Lynn... There isn't many children in the Pitt. Perhaps that is a good thing. It isn't really a place for the smaller..", once more he regretted his words. Now they knew there was no future generation to take place of the casualties.

He made a mental note to talk to Jervis about that.

"So how long have you been with the Rosebloods?"

their gaze fell to the male, content to watch him as he familiarized himself with the area, their body completely relaxed, tail moving only to knock a tumbleweed towards the children as they played.

"the youth have no place in violence. we lost our patriarch, one that most hated and very few cared for, and he was not all together mentally, but he looked out for us, large and small. he was a good man, even if his mind was often clouded and distracted. at one time, these lands were not safest for youth, and there were barren mothers. but even a hellscape has a chance of nurturing life.", lynn murmured, laying their head on the ground.

"you are in no danger. our more battle hungry are at training with my father or something similar. yes, i am old, but he is even older. you have shared secrets with us, and us with you, my friend. nothing should ever occur without something being exchanged.", they yawn, letting their eyes close. "you are safe here, rest as you need, and have faith in us. i am the second in power, jiyu will speak to me later if something happens. at one time we only knew chaos, but leadership has changed. we are more peaceful."

(sorry it's short, shift starts asap)

He had to admit it was odd being next to an animal larger than himself. Back in the jungle he was the biggest animal in the Pitt, but now he felt dwarfed sitting next to Lynn. Where some may feel threatened he felt rather safe next to them, Kydobi could tell that Lynn wouldn't allow harm to come. He was a guest.

And that was nice.

The insight to the Roseblood history was intriguing, Kydobi found himself wondering just how their previous leader was unstable. Was he cruel? Was he demented? Delirious? There was so many possibilities, but the jaguar knew better than to ask. That would be rude.

If a wasteland could nurture life why couldn't the jungle? Because of the inhabitants, it is bursting with life but they run through it quicker than it can replenish. Yet it wasn't the plants and water themselves it was the animals that filled it. Kydobi sighed, it was a shame but maybe he could convince Jervis that a break from war was most important. As was acquiring females and children... In a voluntary and reasonable fashion.

As the dragon seemed to settle down for a doze Kydobi felt a little tense. What should he do now? Play with the children? But truth be told he didn't really want to do that. Instead he watched them, eyes glazing over their rich body.

"I only hope that the same can happen to the Pitt as it has happened to the Rosebloods.", he was referring to the transition of imperialism and war to peace and containment.

Kydobi yawned, exposing his incisors for a brief moment before snapping his jaw shut. He would groom his body before winding down for a cat nap. Afterwords he would leave.

"Thank you for the visit Lynn."
