The faerie was a natural at deception. Infiltration. He excelled at it. He even enjoyed it a little, and perhaps that was why his parents had always been wary of his work as a spy all those years ago. His brothers too. But it was useful, they could not deny that and he hardly ever failed. The endfield imagined his daughter may dispute that, argue they had gotten their fair share of hurts on their escape from the Pitt. He had taken care of the guards. He had been thorough. He had not accounted for running into another child late that night. Oh well. The past was the past. In that fight they'd discovered a thing or two about Keona herself, about abilities that had laid dormant. In the current matter, he only felt inclined for the first talent they'd come across of during their time in the desert. As such, Séamus had sent a message to the girl before dawn's first light to meet him for a quick session deep in the jungle. He had to make sure she was capable of utilizing their connection for effective communication. They had not practiced with her mental abilities in some time and he planned to remedy that later, but now was not the time. He had a mission. So the feathered vulpine lingered beside the deep pool outside the Hidden Colosseum. A rather familiar place now. One he hoped she'd feel comfortable practicing around and a quiet enough spot for explaining he was leaving for a task given to him by Goldie. That's going to go well with her. Training with her father typically meant something of the mental kind. He seemed more fond of such pursuits although he had taken the time once before to enforce some combat exercises on her. Honestly, the petite Privateer sort of hoped that was today's business, but she had a feeling it was not. She needed to practice and her father outmatched her as an opponent, making him a rather good training dummy because she doubted she'd hurt him on accident. Of course, her da likely would be similar to her in a fight so perhaps she'd ask him later. After whatever Seamus had in mind. With her spotted tail curling up in curiosity, the tiny feline trotted through the jungle, conscious that the landscape had morphed and changed since the volcano's eruption. Every once and a while she had to dodge a stump she didn't notice, or a rock, or she simply tripped over a fallen branch or ran into a newly growing bush. The end result was a somewhat scruffy Privateer, a few sticks and leaves clinging to her fur. She sensed her father's aura before anything else and huffed quietly as she stepped out of the trees and bounded towards the sandy bank of the pool. The trickle of water was indeed familiar, and Keona settled easily on the sand, shuffling her paws. Inquisitively, her head cocked to one side, inclining towards her father's direction. Her sightless hues picked a spot to linger on, flickering with curiosity. "Da." Would disappointment cloud those eyes in the next few minutes? Séamus supposed he just had to see. This was necessary. But not for the first time, he was struck by just how small his daughter was. Small and blind but... Not helpless for sure. He'd seen the fire in those eyes. He just hopes once she understands the plan, she doesn't pull something reckless in the event something goes awry. She'd be the first to know. She's essential to the mission now. The vulpine ruffled his feathers, eyeing the youth coolly, brows creased. Now or never. "Sibéal." I hope she doesn't argue with me. "I want to practice our telepathic link." Simple. Séamus knew better than to assume Keona's mind would be open to any intrusion, bonded or none. He understood, and kept his words direct but soft. "I need to know we can be get contact quickly and efficiently even when we're separated." He had to go on. She was a clever girl. I expect nothing less from my own daughter. "The captain has asked me to infiltrate and spy on the Pitt," this he kept curt, wary of an upset response. But I doubt she trusts Jervis either. "I want you to my link home; to pass on information to Goldie directly." He shifted, flexing his talons. "The Typhoon needs eyes and ears in the Pitt, to ensure they're holding their end -- but I need you to be my voice." "I need to know that I can reach you, Sibi." // Mobile [align=right]word of mouth there's a snake in the garden — SÉAMUS Ó FAOLÁIN ☠ Re: CLOSE TO ME --- keona - Keona. - 04-11-2019 [div style="width: 527px; line-height: 1.4; text-align: justify; font-family: palatino; font-size: 11px;"][align=center]blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these broken wings and learn to fly
The apprehension in the air was enough to make her paws shuffle. Ears flicked back subconsciously, her brows creasing as her father began. Mental practice then. Maybe next time. She worried at her lip for a split second, wondering she ought to ask maybe for a sparring session instead but she realized quickly he had more motive for this matter than simple practice.Indeed, her eyes narrowed sharply, drinking in his careful words. Measured tone. No use in avoiding the truth. A breath of air sliced through clamped teeth, her tail lashing once as she bit her tongue. Let him continue. Goldie doesn't trust Jervis. Good news, of course, but she felt her fur prick as she worked through the concept of this task. A liaison. Tiny, sharp claws dug into the sandy bank of the pool of water. Someone had to go. He had done it before. With no one to rescue he could focus on information. Strategy. Albeit agitatedly, Keona felt her head incline. Their ability to communicate would make this a much more effective infiltration of the Pitt. Then they can burn. "Okay." Some reluctance still hung in the word, but Keona tilted her chin, pale eyes bright. "How do we start?" |
