SUNHAVEN/ASCENDANTS MERGE DISCUSSION! - Kicksie - 01-28-2019

[align=center][div style="width: 55%; text-align: justify; font-size: 12pt; letter-spacing: -1px; font-family: times new roman;"]due to the fact that we are stretching ourselves too thin and could use some condensing, apricity and i have decided to merge sunhaven and the ascendants so that they will become one group. while we're still not sure of the ic details of the merge, we do have an idea of how we want the group to be structured. feel free to give your honest input on any of this, and we'll have a discussion!

Name: Elysium
Ranks: There’ll be two separate sides and therefore two leaders. The Helion is in charge of the community (events, development, etc) and the Magna is in charge of justice (allies and enemies, holding court, etc). Both leaders will make all the decisions together, but the Helion will carry out the 'community' tasks and the Magna will carry out the 'justice' tasks.
Second in commands will be Wardens of community/justice
Titles: were just gonna use asc current system and keep the beads
Territory: in an outer cave system that leads to central open air area. There’s a pulley system that leads to the observatory, which now functions as a court house of sorts and other important meetings, and the floating sea town which is now the center of large events, merchants, and parties.
Traditions: keep asc necklaces, keep SH merchants, a new jury type system where the Magna serves as judge to any enemies of the clan, and probably a new festival of some sort to celebrate when the clans united.
Theme: The clan is based on the idea of balance, “no one gives too much of themselves, yet always contributes for the greater good.” This is why one side of the clan is dedicated entirely to community and wellness while one is dedicated to justice.
Religion: none bc icly that wouldn’t make sense

also we were thinking of not doing auto acceptance to make joining more interesting? and characters will have to get officially sworn into the group during meetings

[align=center][div style="max-width: 500px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 9.5pt; line-height: 1.4;letter-spacing:.1px"]Tracking and super on board with these ideas! My one concern is actually that there may be too many systems. In my experience, groups with merchants or justice systems have never seen them fully implemented or utilized, and I really hope this one would be different but I still think it's something that would take a lot of time and effort. Those things combined with the really complex title system may make things really confusing for people who want to join, imo. But honestly that's my only concern I love these ideas and I love the merge tbh.

Our hope is that since the leaders will each head one side, it’ll be simple to take care of both systems! Also the justice system is hopefully going to be kept relatively simple, only being used in times of crisis or to swear in a new member at a meeting (which is literally just said member repeating a phrase and no one objecting to membership). I can’t speak a ton about the merchant system because that’s kicksie’s territory more than mine but we’re hoping the co-leaders will help make both system manageable!

[align=center][div style="width: 55%; text-align: justify; font-size: 12pt; letter-spacing: -1px; font-family: times new roman;"]yup! ^
i'm planning to keep the merchants system pretty simple too with monthly visits to other groups to sell stuff as well as seasonal markets (one per season) where other groups can come to the town for sales and there can be fun little games and events as well!

[align=center][div style="max-width: 420px; line-height:120%; font-family: arial; font-size: 8.5pt; text-align: justify; margin-bottom:5px"]i quite enjoy this but i'm a little confused on the territory, what i have in my head is this

- the observatory set on a cliff overlooking the ocean
- set at the base of the cliff is a little hidden alcove of a beach of sorts where the town is half in the alcove itself and part of it floats on the water
- a cave system works into the cliff itself where the main hub is, the town being primarily the shops and home base for those who wish to stay outside of the caves

but i'm not 100% on even that since you said the caves lead to an open air area so is this just a large chamber where a large group may assemble comfortably or is it a cave with an open roof that has the system allowing travel up to the observatory proper, though i do feel an observatory might not be fitting any longer if it lacks the connection to the stars

i sort of like the idea deities are in place but are not a required thing. the way this works being sun's following of apollo and artemis while the constellations asc has in high regard are very heavily centered around the gods as well as each is tied to a god, this translating into a base worship, possibly of the sun signifying the merchant side so those of that side of things have charms of gold and during celebrations and war they are painted with gold and sun designs, while the justice keeps to the moon and have silver charms and thus are painted in gold with moon designs to keep part of that in it, in a way merges the fact both do have gods in place in a slight way though it is centered around the celestial bodies rather then gods without the need for worship if it is preferred that way

merge in ic possibly there could be natural destruction, sun is set in a fjord which can reach extremely low tempretures so frost could easily kill off the flora and a layer of ice over the water drasticly depletes the food supply and asc could go through extremely heavy snow to the point the bunker is inhabitable and the lower levels of the observatory are concrete with no real way of heating them properly offering more problems leading into one of them sheltering with the other and the issues with the second group forcing all to band together to find a new place to wait out the harsh weather

Re: SUNHAVEN/ASCENDANTS MERGE DISCUSSION! - vellichor - 01-28-2019

So basically for the territory there’s one big mountain type area that has basically outer “tunnels” that lead to an inner open air area that’s kinda like the main part of camp. The observatory is at the very edge of the territory, in a completely separate area, and the floating sea town is on the other edge (think of them as side borders to the territory). They are accessed via a pulley system from the main camp that’s kinda like a zip line sorta situation

I honestly am very against the idea of any sort of religion. Unless there’s a plot, it doesn’t make sense IC and it’s a huge thing to keep up with that generally isn’t utilized. I’m not completely closed to it if that’s an idea more people would be interested in but personally I don’t like the idea of including a religion. I also feel like we have a lot going on anyway without also trying to tie it in with gods/religion.

Honestly, I would rather not do a huge plot to make the merge happen. The simple reason I was thinking would just be that both groups are incredibly small at this point and they’re coming together to become stronger and a little better defended. With all the new concepts and changes, I think it’s best to keep the actual events themselves as simple as possible. Kind of like the religion situation, if a big plot is something a lot of people would be interested in, I’m definitely down for that, but currently I think something a little more simplistic is probably for the best. Also, we’re using some territory elements from both groups so we wouldn’t be able to do anything that permanently damages either side.

[align=center][div style="max-width: 420px; line-height:120%; font-family: arial; font-size: 8.5pt; text-align: justify; margin-bottom:5px"]alright that makes more sense, it reminds me heavily of a fjord which was the base for how sun's territory is set up though their mountains are a lot lower, though it still feels a bit odd for there to be three areas split so heavily, it just feels like three different camps shoved together into one thing and the observatory still feels unfitting with the lack of connection to the stars, while it is interesting to act sort of as a landmark to show what asc once was having an area meant to welcome new members feels odd when it is considered its own separate thing

along with i despise cave system camps as the main point, during the same time sun was being brainstormed i was making a group and brought up the idea of a sort of skiing lodge and little town set about a lake in the valley of mountains with a cave system within that allows miners to gather ore and gems, as they were merchants though the idea was scraped because sun was being made, but i've always found it eh to have cave systems without a purpose or something there, such as underground lakes or formations that offer more then just a wide open area

i do understand not having big plots i just enjoy having little things amongst t to make it more interesting, along with a lot of this reminds me of old school scarclan which i loved and revolved heavily around the gods so i got in that mindset

either way i hope you guys the best of luck but at this point, with what i now know, i don't believe i will be sticking around the group simply because it is not to my taste and it just doesn't mesh well in my opinion

Re: SUNHAVEN/ASCENDANTS MERGE DISCUSSION! - vellichor - 01-28-2019

So our idea for the observatory was kinda to have it be a place that represented the “justice” side now, which is why it’s used as a court and for more important meetings related to war and allies and whatnot. Almost similar to an armory I guess. We do still have the full title system which is heavily connected to stars, but do you have any suggestions as to how we could have a greater connection to it? I think that’d be interesting but I’m not sure how it’d be implemented within what we currently have.

The cave system isn’t the primary point of camp. Basically there are just tunnels that lead into camp, but then they stop and open up into the central area, which would be outside.

It’s all good! We want to hear your ideas and that’s still something we could consider, I just personally don’t think that’d make a ton of sense ic and I think it’d be really difficult to implement with everything else we have going on as well.

Nothing is currently set in stone and if you’d like to discuss what you don’t like specifically and offer solutions, that’s fine! None of this is really decided on at all, Kicks and I just wanted to put our ideas out there because the merge has to happen relatively soon, so we don’t have a ton of time to vote on every single aspect. If not, it was fun rping with you and I hope to see you again!
