IN DEPTH:
    a true mess of a creature, oil is dedicated to his studies and them alone. other beings are mere happenstance existences of limited value or importance to him in terms of social structure, though terribly invaluable when it comes to research. he has a selfish, perverted sense of ownership over anything and anyone he feels is crucial for his studies, and has an absolute lack of remorse for any heinous activities he commits. he is highly logical, obsessive, and cannot be disturbed or otherwise interfered with when he's in "the zone". the comfort or concern of others has little weight in his decision-making, which lends him to be a terrible physician for those who need true aid: a patient to him is simply a guinea pig.
    definitely not a leader in his own right, oil prefers to be alone whenever possible, except in the instance of discovering a breakthrough where this new knowledge will be of some use. he is precise and intricate, with everything in its place and every detail of vital importance. his thoughts flow in a ceaseless whirlwind of ideas, intrusive thoughts, and otherwise curious mentions that often become verbal ramblings to no one in particular.
    with no concept of social norms or personal space, it's no surprise that oil has made no friends, nor does he actively seek them. he's far too preoccupied with his scientific efforts to meddle with such tedious tidbits, and instead embraces his role as a cog in the machine - there for duty and nothing else. he makes little effort for upkeep, letting his fur mat and his stomach curdle when it's crunch-time.
    due to a latent genetic condition, his mind has begun to deteriorate, and will continue to do so over time. so far it has only impacted his long-term memory, making his upbringing and distant past a frustrating haze. in time, it may come to affect his day-to-day activities, but the extent of this disease's reach is yet to be determined.

BACKSTORY: oil has given so many explanations of his past, and no two seem to match each other. while some have determined this to be on purpose, whether to humorlessly mess with his audience or to protect some shameful deeds, the truth is that his history has slipped his memory. the deterioration of certain facets of his mind have seemed to target his own personal encounters and history, instead clinging to the mundane know-how's of his work.
