better than anyone else / vale - clarence a. - 01-02-2019 Clarence was excited for tonight. He and Vale would be eating dinner together again. It probably shouldn't be something he was so excited about - it wasn't the first time they'd shared a meal since they'd been reunited but he'd been deprived of that for so long. He'd been stuck on a boat for months without end, unable to see any of his family. It was more than welcome to share a meal with his sister now that they were back in the same place. He'd even tried to make muffins for tonight. He was making a real effort to make things like they once were, back at home. However, he couldn't help but wince a bit as he walked into her home. "Vale? I'm here. I tried making some muffins but... well, they're a little... I'm not sure they're edible, actually. They're pretty well burned and I was a bit confused about the flour-" He called, setting the bag of black muffins down. "But, I did bring something to make it up. You know that glowing box I found some time ago? With the disks that went in it? Well, Orpheus got me some more of those disks and they're also musicals! I thought maybe we could watch some of them." Vale kept to herself the past few days, spending most of her time tidying her home in the Ascendants’ observatory. She’d snatched a pretty good suite when she arrived, as her rooms had an doorless layout with ample space for her bed, living area, and kitchen supplies. So far, she’d only figured out how to use the damn oven – the smell of spiced pork carried through the space, making it obvious what she cooked. And why shouldn’t she cook? This was a special occasion; she thought reuniting with Clarence would be simple, but she hadn’t counted on him becoming leader of a group of animals. Her ears flicked as he walked through the open doorway, a grin appearing across her face. “I’d be more surprised if you didn’t muck up the goods, Clare-bear. Maybe you should take up gardening? Maybe you’ve got a green thumb hiding behind those butterfingers,” she joked, moving to close the door behind him. This was going to be a proper sibling bonding diner – she didn’t want any of these crazy animals barging in here, especially when she needed to worm some spilt tea out of him. “And yeah, yeah, we can definitely watch those… disk musicals?” she said with a slight nod, though she honestly had no clue what he was talking about. Musicals, obviously, she knew about – but Vale hadn’t encountered ‘movies’ yet. Sure, she heard how Clarence loved them, but the jaguar never bothered to sit down long enough to actually watch one. “Go ahead and set it up, the roast’ll be ready in a tick,” she added, tapping the handle of the oven for emphasis. In all honesty, she didn’t know how much longer – she managed to set the timer on the oven correctly, but then she pressed some damn stupid buttons and all it displayed was the temperature. But she was pretty sure it’d ring soon. Or perhaps I simply have bad luck, although I can't imagine that. Mother was such a good cook and baker. I really did try to learn from her, Vale. I spent hours on a cake with her and it was still terrible." He then pulled out the movies and the tiny screen and began setting it up, humming softly to himself as he did so. He decided to show Vale the first one he'd seen, "Phantom of the Opera." That seemed like a good one. Plus then she could see Raul; the blonde man with the nice eyes. "Alright, I just popped the disk in so it's ready to go any time," he announced before making his way over. "I still can't figure out how to use those things. All the buttons are confusing. It took me awhile to figure out how to work the disk machine. What are you making?" LISTEN UP; HEAR THE PATRIOTS SHOUT BLOOD LUST IN A HOLY WAR |
