and the camera flashes make it look like a dream / au new year's party - clarence a. - 01-01-2019
//this is just a fun lil au party for ascendants members! there's no particular theme or anything, its just a fancy nye party!
Clarence was very used to formal events, but he had yet to attend any since his arrival here. That being said, it was clear the man had brought out his very best. Clad in a dark, slimming suit with a striped tie and his hair slicked back, he appeared even neater than usual. He'd gone all out in throwing a party for the city. He'd found the best orchestra, the best chef who was willing to cater tonight, the best bakers- everything he could do to bring everyone together. If they weren't spending the night with their family, he wanted to make sure this party was worth their time. He was standing on an upper balcony, exiting the dressing room he'd rented out for his dearest friends and family. They had to spend all day setting up, after all, and it was too much to keep going back and forth between their home and here. Besides, it hadn't been much of an extra expense. He looked over the empty room, taking a deep, shivering breath.
He still wasn't used to all of this. It was a bit much, really. While Clarence had always been outgoing enough, he'd never really wanted to step into the spotlight. Any time he ended up there, it was purely by accident. This had been the biggest accident of all; somehow finding himself in his current position. Still, he hoped he was doing well. Maybe he could focus on just doing well for tonight. Not anything else. He could just watch everyone stream in with smiles on their faces as they all celebrated the first moments of the new year together. Maybe that was all he really needed. As he noticed a few people beginning to trickle in, he made his way down the stairs and onto the main floor in order to greet those that had been among the first to arrive.
