All it takes is one long look - Masie - 12-28-2018

Silence was the sound the dominated the forest, once someone grew adjusted to the chime of crickets and rustling of leaves it was just an intense nearly painful silence. This feeling was one that should be fairly foreign but for some reason it was ever so familiar. Large amber optics looked out at the expanse of the once boisterous nest now agonizingly empty her own indent the only fresh one in the foliage and dirt constructing it. What any good daughter, any good sister should and would do was wait for those happy days to return. Yet? Everyday she stayed here the fact she was all alone hurt all the more because it was harder to forget she no longer had anyone who could understand her speaking in the entire group. Sleeping alongside the ghosts of the absent only made it harder to get up the next morning and something nagged at her that she had been through something like this before and she just couldn't remember it. Why was that? Not that it really mattered, she had the more pressing concern of what she knew to be the right thing to do versus something she was beginning to believe was necessary for her own sanity.

As the sun set lit the sky aflame the raptor picked up the long scarf she had gotten from the set left for the group weeks ago in her mouth, tossing it so that she could secure the object around her neck in the same fashion she saw others wearing them. Sparing one last glance at the nest? Masie picked up the large wicker basket she had gotten her other gifts in, she couldn't live with ghosts and be mute at the same time, she just couldn't. Running across the forest floor, her chest felt as if someone had pushed an indent into it the same way she ripped into things like fish. All she could do? Was keep running because if she stopped short she wouldn't try again.

The behavior of the raptor was different, her path through the forest clear instead of stealthy, steps clearly audible as she came towards the sail boats, plus the tempest, where everyone was staying near due to the creeping red stuff that was slowly spreading across the island. Blinking the raptor started walking along the row, sniffing as she went trying to figure out if any of the boats had space left. Putting her stuff and sleep in one of the huts didn't seem wise with that stuff burning things down where it touched, she'd rather something that could leave if it had to. Like she was.. kinda, leaving the nest was different from leaving the island which she'd never done and didn't plan on doing anytime soon, especially not alone. "This would be a lot easier if I could just ask one of them." but, she couldn't ask anyone, that was the whole reason she was doing this wasn't it.
