gifts + treats ✦ the only gift I'll ever need - raziel - 12-26-2018

Christmas.  If a single holiday meant anything to the faerie Christmas ranked number one.  A deeply faithful wolf, Raziel took to the season with stride... In a quiet manner.  Taking time to sit still and reflect on his life, his faith, and the world around him.  A season of giving as well, the canine took to preparing presents as well.

Quite a large family to give presents to.  Blood and otherwise.  With his daughter there to trip up his paws -- and help in her own way -- he got to work.  Well into the morning, the smell of fresh gingerbread could be caught in the air close to the bookworm's treehouse.  He did not know everyone particularly well, but food always made a good gift, from what he'd seen over the years.  His mother had always believed that he mused with a fond smile.

On the beach, he set out the festive cookies on a table.  Per his daughter's insistence, a number of the gingerbread 'men' resembled various animals, including many she'd seen around the Typhoon specifically.  He'd been happy to comply though he tried to keep from making them too accurate to anyone since he always found it weird to eat something that looked like you.

Cookies ready and presented, Raziel left with specific instructions for Suvi to remain by the table, lest she tried to peek before the others showed up.  For his crewmates, he brought a large basket filled with various scarves, hats, and accessories within the theme of the season, many hand-crafted.

For his brother, Kian, an old music book, filled with sheet music for various old classics and songs Raziel knew he used to play and sing, rested, wrapped in blue paper.  For Seamus, a bowie knife, with the shape of a snake carefully etched in the wood hilt, sat in a simple sheath.  Raziel had always found his brothers easy to prepare gifts for.

For his own daughter, Suvi, a soft blanket illustrating the night sky, wrapped around a stuffed penguin, rested in a lavender bag.  For his studious neice, Keona, copies of his favorite books in braille, including the Hobbit, Le Petite Prince, and the Chronicles of Narnia, bound together by leather.  A stuffed polar bear sat atop the books, wearing a flannel scarf.

For his nephew, Leo, a conch and a number of short books all in Irish.  Hopefully, easy reads to get the boy better acquainted with the language than sneaking around and stealing old tomes.  For the boy's brother, Valentine, a similar set of books with the same intention and a much smaller -- kid-friendly -- knife to match his father's.  He attached a small note to it specifying that it was technically for use in the kitchen, but it made a good start to learning how to handle the weapon properly.

With a warm smile, Raziel sat back on his haunches, ready to see everyone find their gifts and enjoy some snacks. He really did love Christmas.
