jerisidie had found them a den in the ruins, grateful for the cool dampth despite his own pale pelt. the ex-pittian was content to be safe and not on his feet. but that wasn't feeding the hunger ravaging his stomach lining.
laying down, the hellhound would put his head on the ground, making sure his daughter, tsuyu, was out of his way before he began to roll around in the dirt and damp, hoping for it to cling to his pelt and darker the light fur he currently had. he would get up soon enough, looking at his daughter beseechingly. i've been good, haven't i? can i eat soon? everyone smells so good ... tsuyu, baby girl? he would think quietly, using their silent bond and mental connection to communicate.
he would find someone to show them both around later, but he could scrounge for a few little grubs to feed them both for a short time. beginning to dig in the corner he would yank out a few worms and beetles. he would give tsuyu over half and chew on the rest himself.

"You can eat, papa. Go hunt yourself a rabbit or something, ribbit." She croaked, dragging herself along the ground, scraps of eggshells clinging to the corners of her mouth. While she didn't eat meat, she had been told to eat egg shells with her meals to help fix the bones that were shattered. With therapy and such, she should be able to get back up and moving in a month or so. "Who was that disgusting child, papa?" She blurted out the question, her gaze dull, disgusted at even mentioning that bastard child. Only she could be his child- she had earned this. All the death, all the pain. She deserved this much.

jerisidie rolled over, licking the corners of her mouth to clean her up, huffing softly as he watched her. "that was bai shi, one of my oldest blood-related children. they are my successor when I die. they are next in line to be the general of the afterlife, the ruler of it. the living cannot go to our underworld in death, for to do so, one must believe in the old gods from my time. the crown is not a thing anyone wants because it drives the wearer mad with time." he told her truthfully.
when told he could go hunt he gave a thankful noise, shaking himself out. disappointed he couldn't hide the hunger but he chained his emotions.
