finnloch had dragged over one of the newer members to come to sunhaven, the former medic sitting on top of the tigress' shoulder, kneading. she was disappointed to see her clan looking so poor, even after the ... pitiful and stupid "attack" that the pitt had made on them.

she would lift her head and call out, "hey! sunhaven! anybody want to listen to a story or share some stories? ariside has agreed, against her will, to be a heat source for those who are cold!" she smiled when the tigress gave a non-commital response and simply stretched out on her side.

she chuckled, settling in her position on top of the femme, eyes watching her classmates, certain that they would come join the two. over the time that she had been healing, she had woven together some simplistic mats from long grasses and reeds, crushing a few pine cones to give it a nice smell. she had set these mats down, each varying sizes. she still wasn't the most fit to go hunting with her leg still healing, and the cold of the mountain was beginning to settle into her bones and make her uncomfortable. those who came, would obviously be allowed to take the mats with them when they left so that they were comfortable come night. as a last effort she added on, "there's some snacks and some nice warm mats for the taking!"

to manipulate venus it was pretty simple - finn had the kitsune at "snacks". at the beck and call of the other girl, venus pricked their ears towards finn's voice and drifted along to the mini event that she had set up with a gleeful expression. "ooh, neat!" expressing their delight with a high-pitched remark, the kitsune came slinking over to the mats, wandering paws drawn to the sights and scents of glucose to fuel an imbalanced diet full of skipped meals and little to no exercise. the teen fed off sugary snacks. the only thing keeping their body functioning at this point.

stories were something exciting too, venus was sure of it. they weren't something the teen would typically find themselves doing in their spare time, but listening or reading stories were a great way to escape reality for a bit. relax, de-stress and let imagination take over. whatever finn had in store for the group today, venus was hyped.

(so tired sorry)

finnloch would give venus a welcome nod, the she-cat letting out a pleased purr. at least some of the clan was willing to come and relax and have fun. she then nodded towards the pile of snacks, a few edible blossoms she had pressed into edible cookie dough. well, she had traded a pretty penny for the dough, so she prayed that it was edible. beside it though, was a roughly shaped bowl of popcorn. she had heated the corn in some oil she had again, traded for. there were some dried pieces of meat as well, made of deer meet.

she was content, amused by the items she had brought. even more amusing though, was venus showing up for the little story event. "any stories you would like to hear, love? I've collected quite a few in my travels." she smiled, using one of her many pet names for all members in the group.

Re: gather round the fire // story-telling event - Fairylights - 11-27-2018

――― "I like stories," Fairy nearly whispered as she approached carefully, her paws gently touching the ground as she considered the surroundings, before she grabbed herself a little mat, laying it out before she returned to the pile of offered snacks and sugary sweets, her eyes almost alighting with a rare moment of glee, perhaps the first she had felt since she had arrived. Ah, the power of sugar, right? It was enough to forget anyone's problems, so long as you had enough of it. Stuffing a bit of a treat into her maw to hold onto it, she stepped back over to her mat and laid herself down, minding her still healing paws as she turned her gaze to Finnloch. Admittedly, she had no real stories that she wanted to share of her own, the only ones that could come to mind at present far too depressing to share with a group,  but she was making an effort to be cheery. "Something exciting," she'd request next, if her voice was even loud enough to be heard, throwing the idea out there. It was not the time for misery anymore.

Re: gather round the fire // story-telling event - AUGUST - 11-27-2018

[align=center][div style="width:490px; font-family:arial; font-size:9pt; text-align:justify"]It would be unlike August to turn down the opportunity to hear a good story. He enjoyed listening to the words of other people... if they were interesting enough, that is. Being bored to tears by the droning on of a senile elder wasn't an ideal story-telling experience, but perhaps this Sunhavener that he had never met would have lots of tales in store for them all.

The other adolescent had practically taken the words right out of his mouth, and so he offered none. However, it was all the same for him as well — he would also like to hear exciting stories. Perhaps this lady had a life filled with adventures and battles that she could tell them about.

The wolf pup plopped down onto a mat, giving a glance to those already gathered before returning his gaze to the feline.

the former medic would smile at the two newest members joining their small group, "something exciting, you say? hmm. ah. I think I've found one." she would hum, her eyes growing distant as she slipped into her memories. now. lore of her people, or a story she had gathered? a story she had gathered, she decided.

clearing her throat she settled into the most comfortable position that she could and began to spin her tale.

"days were the only thing worth looking forward to in times such as where our story takes place. the lands were beautiful, full of green life, brimming at the seams as the sun would gleam golden pff the lakes and rivers. it was the land of the fae or so it seemed, and within the land lived clans of folk. they celebrated the daytime and cursed the ever circling approaching threat of nighttime.

for in the nighttime, the land would turn against the ones who cared and lived upon it. living in some sort of four walled structure was necessary for the land would rearrange itself over night and there are many tales of travelers becoming lost in the folds of the land, not reappearing until many years later, either the same age as when they became lost, or much older.

the night was brimming with danger, from the beasts that wandered the inky black, to the folding lands and to the screaming of birds as the moon was swallowed by a pair of jaws every night. we follow the story of a young fae, a young woman who had nothing to hold her in one place.

from a young age, she had only ever been interested in her father's swords and all of the things that little boys were expected to be interested in, never once wanting to be stuck at her mother's side learning how to sew, weave, or cook. she always wanted to be out in the mud, grappling with the young men her father trained for the army of their lord. this created a pattern, where she would wake, try to sneak out to the training fields, only to be caught by the maids or her mother and made to do tasks expected of her. roughly at noon, she would escape to the fields where she learned all that she could about blades and swordplay.

as she grew, her interests mainly stayed the same, but grew outwards to encompass herbs and the study of plants. she would soon be engaged to yet another son of the allied duke's son. on the day of their final meeting before the beginning of their marriage, she had finally had enough of being meant to be a woman of these times, instead seeking the thrill and adventure of being a soldier. on the eve before her wedding, she would sneak away from their estate, wearing only the sword strapped tight to her body and the cloak upon her back. she would flee with a bag of coin. somehow, she would survive the night, encountering many fearsome beasts and ghouls. she would reach the lord's city after a few nights out in the wilds.
" she would take a break, allowing for questions and to rest her voice as she drank from some water.

as tales began to be spun, drawn together from words from finnloch, the silvery kitsune listened intently. munching of various sweet food items provided by the kind lady were slowed, as if even the temptations of food was a backseat show to the one performed with words in a literary dance of the winter kind. a fitting story for the season. it reminded venus vaguely of sunhaven in some ways; a group that worshiped the sun. it wasn't too far from reality of sunhaven, but the group lacked a certain militaristic attitude the fictitious group seemed to hold dear to their core values. admittedly venus would hate to be forced into violence, but couldn't stand the boring and dull life of a housewife or whatever. probably it was just better to be glad that the story what just simply that - a story. "didn't know i was in to be thoroughly spooked tonight. i want to be a good night's sleep, you're gonna give me a bout of nightmares." venus chided with the older female.
