Closure - double funeral - Morgan - 11-22-2018
Morgan took tired steps to the entrance of the mausoleum, controlling his breathing as much as he could. It was not easy, however, because of what it was he was manipulating: a pair of frozen corpses. He had long since accepted the deaths of Delilah and Whisper, but it hurt to have to handle their bodies until the funeral was ready. He had dug two body-sized holes in the ground by himself, and took his time to pick two separate bouquets of flowers from the flower field just outside territory. He had commissioned some other Tanglers to make some simple chiseled headstones, each of them bearing the name of their respective deceased Tangler.
... "It's time, then," the samoyed whispered, turning around with his eyes closed. He had hoped enough time had passed that some others would have arrived, but he would understand if anyone felt too sad to do so. In any case, he nodded and slowly let his eyes open. "Today, we'll be burying two of our own. I've never done this before, so I think I'll just say a few words. Since many of us have quite literally seen the land of the dead, we at least know that life doesn't truly end upon death in this world. We know that there's something beyond it, so I want to wish these two Tanglers the best possible afterlife, wherever they are. We'll all miss them." The General was surprised he was even able to choke out his entire short speech. Shaking his head, he added, "Please... if anyone wants to say something, feel free to say it. I'll be burying them in a moment."
... After waiting for Tanglers to speak, he lifted the frozen bodies and floated them gently into their respective spots. He pulled out the ice which encased them and changed it into a large, wide shovel. Bit by bit, all the missing dirt was then moved onto the corpses from a pile Morgan had made when originally digging the holes. Once finished, he took the flowers out of his satchel and placed them by the headstones. He let the shovel turn back into water next, dropping it onto the graves in hopes that grass could eventually grow back. Whispering shakily under his breath, he said, "I'll... I'll miss you guys. I just -- should've done something."
