WINTER WONDERLAND // PLAYING IN SNOW - buckingham barnes - 11-18-2018
Buckingham's light blue eyes looked towards the clouds, as snowflakes fell from the sky. At first when they arrived at the peak, Bucky wasn't sure how he'd like the cold climate. Bucky was used to extreme, hot climates- like a desert. He spent the majority of his life in one, which wasn't the best decision considering his long fur coat. The cold temperatures and the altitude took a few days to get used to, and Bucky quickly realized he enjoys this type of weather more than a blazing desert. And there's one specific aspect that he enjoys the most: snow. As he looked up towards the clouds, a snowflake drifted towards him. His gaze locked on it, as it softly landed on his nose. As soon as it made contact with his nose, the snowflake began to melt. Buckingham's body temperature was too great for it to stay in it's frozen form. It melted the moment it landed on him, much like other snowflakes that fell on his fur. While others might prefer to stay under shelter as snow falls, Bucky was the one to stick himself out there. He loved how the snow crunches beneath his paws, even if it gives his stealth away. He loves how cool the snow feels against his fur- while it certainly feels cold, it's a nice feeling with his long coat. Bucky pulled his gaze away from the clouds, his light blue eyes locking on a pile of snow that hasn't been padded on yet. The snow looked soft, the surface sprinkling. It was like the snow was calling out to him, and Bucky was unable to fight the temptation to jump into it. Without another thought, the male leaped into the pile of snow. The Warden rolled onto his back, eyes closed firmly as the snow crunched below his body. A smile on his face, the male twisted and turned, snow clinging onto his pelt. Just for a moment, the stressful thoughts of the flood and their village left his mind. Buckingham didn't even notice that he was purring, snow stuck between his paws. Being able to forget about troubles was difficult when it was constantly looming over them like a shadow, but the small moments you were able to just live in the now was something to really treasure. The unicorn was used to the snow, and rather enjoyed the chill. He hadn't been too far away when he spied Buckingham indulge in the cold fluff. It was hard to hide the smile erupting onto his own face at the sight. He would watch for only a few moments more before getting to his hooves and trotting over to the purring feline. "You ever make a pile of it and just pile drive yourself in there? It's a lot of fun, man." he chimed in casually, swirling the snow around with his tail. [div style="width: 480px; height: auto; text-align: justify; font-family: verdana; font-size: 9pt; line-height: 13px;"]If the woman had to be honest with herself she knew that snow wasn't her favorite thing in the world. It was far too cold and her paws seemed to be effect the most by the solid form of water. It stuck to her fur and dragged at it the more that collected upon it and made it hard to do a lot of things. Sure it was pretty and she had to admit that but it just...was a lot to deal with. That and the cold temperature of it. She had never really been able to control ice herself and it seemed it only worked when she was in dire situations much like when she could bend the blood of others. It only happened when she was severely angry. The hellhound was stretched out in front of her stone home, eyes searching for anything as she allowed herself a moment to relax. Though they had been living up her for a few days now it seemed everyone had escaped the flood without harm. At least from what she could tell of her groupmates. They all seemed well and that was what made her happy. Her claws curled in the snow, listening to it crunch and gather up between her toes before she saw a sight that made her chuckle gentle to herself. Bucky was wiggling in the snow. She hadn't seen the male this happy in a long time and honestly he deserve it with what he had to go through. It was adorable and her ears perked up as the unicorn approached him. Tilting her head she wondered what they were saying before she rose to her paws and walked over, shifting through the snow with ease. At least her large size was good for something and she settled down before curling her twin tails against her body. "Runnin' intae a snow pile seems kind of cold." Just the idea made her shiver and she looked over to the piles around them before she glanced back to the two near her. "Might want tae me careful too. Don't want tae run into a pile and it might be a rock instead." Re: WINTER WONDERLAND // PLAYING IN SNOW - STEVE - 11-20-2018 [align=center][div style="width: 500px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 9.5pt; line-height: 1.4;letter-spacing:.1px"]Snow had been a point of fascination for Steve when he was younger, though mostly because his mother did her absolute best to keep him out of it. He could remember the first time he left their home on the fourth floor to finally touch the white fluff. Other children had been prancing around in it, kicking up billows of snow and licking at falling flakes, and he'd stood stock-still in it like a stupefied idiot, freezing and shuddering. His mother had been worried and disappointed both when she came back to find him shivering in his bed, blanket wet from melted snow, and he'd been laid up for several weeks with some awful illness. As usual. When he got older, and when snow was less mystical, more awful, he didn't try to make a habit out of staying out in it for too long. Steve didn't have a thick pelt to keep him warm, or an immune system that liked him even a little bit, but there wasn't much of a choice, was there? The evacuation was the best choice, of course, he just- didn't get out much. It was harder to breathe, and he found himself panting too much, his lungs quivering like they were on the verge of constricting. They hadn't yet, fortunately. Maybe he was too stubborn. He was definitely too stubborn to confine himself inside forever, so eventually, the small feline left the relative warmth to walk in the snow. By the time he found Bucky twisting about in the snow like it was the best thing since sliced bread, he felt a bit light-headed. He squinted, wondering for a moment if he was having trouble getting enough oxygen to his brain, because that was...an actual unicorn. All right. Marina he knew, and she didn't seem thrilled to be in the snow. "I think he'd just break the rock," he commented lightly, glad that his voice was somewhat regulated, though he still sounded more out of breath than he wanted to. "Gotta be a little hard-headed to roll around in the snow." Re: WINTER WONDERLAND // PLAYING IN SNOW - AUGUST - 11-22-2018 [align=center][div style="width:490px; font-family:arial; font-size:9pt; text-align:justify"]August had not been alive for very long, not even for half of a year. There was a lot of life experiences he had yet to discover — adventures, relationships, the world's wonders, and much more. One of such things? Snow. Frozen water drifting down from the sky. At first, it had confused the youngster, leaving him to stare and marvel at the flakes. August had seen snow before, but never the flakes. The wolf pup sat in the opening of one of the stone shelters, wide amber eyes gazing up at the flurry of white snow swirling about down to the ground. Like Buckingham, a flake had landed upon the surface of his nose. He wrinkled his muzzle and huffed, licking the dot of water with a quick swipe of his pink tongue. Amber luminaries peered towards that of a few Sunhaveners gathering out in the open; even the cat with the metal arm was having a good time. Well, if it was safe to step outside, then why not? August stepped out into the powdered ground, the snow crunching beneath his pads. He blinked as the snowflakes began to dust his thick pelt and he began to grin. In a childlike manner, he then began to roll around and cover himself with the stuff. Re: WINTER WONDERLAND // PLAYING IN SNOW - guts - 11-22-2018 There were few things Ymir liked, and snow wasn't one of them. It was similar to sand in many ways, except it didn't fall from the fucking sky. It stuck between her paws and in her fur, it was often hot--opposite of cold but still the same--and it was a pain to walk in. They were practically the same thing. It was just another thing that made her hate being up in the mountains, aside from the treacherous terrain and the damn hawks. Better than being down there with the flood waters and soggy corpses, though. Pretty morbid.
At least some of them were enjoying their time here. Ymir couldn't help snickering at Bucky's child-like display, watching him squirm about in the pile of crystal white snow. She had a decently thick pelt herself, but she wouldn't be caught rolling around in the stuff, not wanting to chill herself to the bone. It only took so long to freeze. "Someone's having fun. I didn't take you as that type, Buck." she snarks, smiling. She didn't know him that well, but he always seemed like the type with a stick up his ass. "character's speech." |
