It's time for a new modification, BoBCats.
Compared to 'Mark As Read', you now have the option to ignore topics within the 'Recent Unread Topics' tab(by selecting the box on the right and then choosing to ignore within the drop down), along with boards(which can be located within your profile options).

P.S. Watch out for implementation of awards in the future.
