ain't nobody bringing us down down down down / open - ALISAE - 11-04-2018

[align=center][div style="width: 540px; text-align: justify; font-family: helvetica; font-size: 9pt; line-height: 1.4;"]The Ascendants was a huge sprawling place compared to small wrecked cottage that had been Alisaie's home. Up until now, the only constant people in her home were her sister and her mother but now? There were social structures that she had to adhere to ( not that she knew what they were ) and ranks that meant little to her. Despite her enthusiasm, it tended to...

She was lonely early in the morning. It was related to her feeling out of her depth, waking up alone in the early morning without the soft daylight streaming through the cracks in the broken roof but instead cold, hard, stark white concrete. She's underground, which is unfamiliar as being within a large group to Alisaie. It seems disconnected from the world - they apparently call themselves the Ascendants because they're close to the stars but here? She feels further away from the sky that she shares with her family than ever.

She doesn't like the emptiness of her room either. Cold and white, sterile and plain - lacking character and warmth like the small broken down shack. It's her point of comparison for everything and perhaps it points to just how naive that Alisaie was. A pup with delusions of grandeur trying to learn how to be a legend from a clan that wasn't known for fighting. If she was smart, she'd of gone to the Pitt or the Typhoon. Bloodthirsty desert dwellers or savage pirate raiders that would probably teach her how to be just as savage as their members could be.

It was early in the morning that she wanted to go home.

It passed quickly, but during those moments, she wandered the cold concrete halls, spending the time on her own like she'd never had to do before. She likes to leave whenever it's becoming light, feeling almost suffocated by the fact that she's underground. Right now, it's too early and she's not technically allowed to leave, so she stalks the halls and amuses herself by flicking her small bolts into walls.

The lightning she creates is pathetic really. But it amuses her enough, letting it spark and pulse between her paws, watching it with fascination as she can make it dance around her. That's the one thing she liked - her mother hated Alisaie's powers. Once she heard her plead with a stranger who was just outside the door "Please don't take her from me, she's not ready to be taken, she's just a child."

It was never addressed. Never needed to be. As far as Alisaie was concerned, her powers were good and she was special. It never occured to her that she was something that was supposed to be made into a weapon.

Vincent had to admit there was something strange about falling asleep without a sky full of stars above him. Sure he'd been in plenty of buildings before, but he'd never slept in one. Sure, there were those who did where he came from, but such structures were rare and only those strong enough to protect a house lived in one. The rest drifted in nomadic lifestyles, going to bed with the stars above them and waking with the rising sun. Down here you lost track of time quick, and that was part of the reason as to why Vin hadn't been able to choose a room quite yet. He wasn't quite sure he was ready to commit to calling a hole in the ground his "home".

Though just for this night he'd thought to at least try it out, and instead of taking up a room, he instead stayed out in the hallway, pressing himself up against the wall in hopes of not getting stepped on. Unfortunately, tonight that strategy wouldn't work, even if he didn't actually get stepped on. As when Alisaie approached down the hallway, playing with her dangerous power. A rogue spark would shoot off and strike the sleeping cheetah, immediately causing him to jump up to his paws wide awake and puff out his fur in much the same way small cats do.

"Ow, what the heck did you do that for?" He asked the young and unfamiliar dog, his voice tight with fear. "I-I know I shouldn't be sleeping in the hallway, but that really hurt!" He added, not quite registering what the dog had actually done to cause him so much pain. In fact, he didn't think he could really compare the pain to anything he'd ever felt before, except for maybe when he had put his tongue on his battery that one time. But he didn't see any battery and the pain wasn't in his tongue this time.

VALEMON
male — 14 months — ascendants — member — tags — rped by Autumnleaf
Val was also wandering the halls quite early. Unfortunately, he wasn’t paying much attention to anyone else who might be up at this time and almost bumped into the femme. The young lion turned to offer a quick apology before resuming his walk when he registered what she was doing.

The sparks dancing around her paws were very reminiscent of the one that had hurt Sekai.

But, this girl hadn’t been the one to attack his sister. With great effort, Val managed to keep from fleeing the scene and focused on remaining calm. “C-careful!” he said, a hesitant smile forming on his features. He wasn’t going to mention the panic her show had stirred up in him. He was going to be his usual friendly self. “‘s very pretty. The lights.” The ones she was bouncing off of the walls, he meant.

After his compliment, Valemon momentarily shifted his focus to Vincent. The cheetah seemed alright, if not a bit startled. Hopefully it was nothing to worry about. “Sorry.” The apology slipped from his lips before he’d even realized what he should say. It wasn’t his fault Vincent had been zapped and still he’d felt the need express his regret for what had taken place.

[align=center][div style="width: 540px; text-align: justify; font-family: helvetica; font-size: 9pt; line-height: 1.4;"]Alisaie blinks - once, twice and a third before it sets in that she's accidentally caught him with a spark. Her face goes from one of confusion to a little more panicked quickly, ears pinned back against her head. "I didn't mean to! Nobody's usually awake this early!"

She huffs, taking a note of Vale who has also appeared. Wait, she wasn't even doing any sparks that were particularly charged, this cheetah must be a complete baby to be hurt that badly by one of her sparks. "They're weren't even that strong, you'll be fine..." She seems less than certain, but that doesn't matter because again, she can't see any burns, so it can't be much worse than a static shock, or licking a battery.

Still, she eventually addresses Vale's compliment, ears beginning to twitch up slightly at the praise. "You think so? I think they're really cool too - I didn't get to use them much at home but I don't think anyone here cares all that much."

It wasn't until now that it registered just how the dog had startled him and he suddenly grew quite interested in the shiba. She was able to make electricity straight from her paws? He'd heard of supernatural abilities like this, but he'd never actually seen one in person until now.

Then his attention was drawn away to the lion that had made himself present. Now if he was trying to confuse the young cheetah he had done a very good job of it by apologizing to him. Why would he apologize for something someone else did? Did he feel somewhat responsible for the dog, or was he just extremely apologetic? Either way, the apology had him dumbfounded. "Huh? But you didn't-" Then he's cut off as Alisaie voiced her own apology, which he simply nodded to choosing to remain silent until she mentioned the power behind the shock.

"Well okay, it didn't really hurt it just um... shocked me." He explained indignantly, unintentionally making a pun as he tried to back peddle and recover a bit of his masculinity from his outburst. "I don't know about you, but getting surprise zapped isn't my definition of fun." He added, lowering his tone as he managed to calm himself down from that sudden jolt. Who'd of thunk that his first encounter with supernatural powers would be him getting zapped? Oh well, he guessed at least now he knew how it felt, at least with a relatively low voltage anyway.

Then when Alisaie started to speak about her powers, Vin looked up from his paws, his earlier interest making a sudden reappearance. He had to wonder why she hadn't been able to use them much at home. Was it because her parents thought her power was too dangerous? He could understand that. Improper training with that could be rather dangerous, although with the right training... something like that could be quite useful, and not just for attacking, that couldn't be further from what Vin had in mind. "No? Why wouldn't they care about something as cool as that? Think of all the cool things you could do!" The now gone pain caused by this power was completely forgotten as a different version of the cheetah showed himself. His tone had changed from slightly angry to excited as he pictured what he would do with such a power. "You could go fishing, start a fire, or even power up human stuff!" He said, listing off only a few of the ideas that came to mind.

[align=center][div style="width: 500px; text-align: justify; font-family: Verdana; font-size: 12px; color;"]It was the aching in the back of her head that spurred Agathe to abandon her room that morning, never having been granted the solace of sleep and especially grumpy as she prowled the halls. She had lived with worse pain but there was something about this one - nagging and ever present - that made her wish that she had never been granted divine prowess in the first place. Technically, she shouldn't be experiencing any of this. She was not the leader of her clan nor did she command a legion of witchlings. She was simply the Astral Seraph of the Ascendants and yet, that seemed to be enough for her goddess. It was all such a complicated affair.

What wasn't complicated were the feelings of annoyance that rose when she heard the sound of voices chatting too-early to greet her. Does anyone actually sleep around here? The cloaked leopardess thought to herself, tongue clicking as she rounded a corner and approached them. Alisaie, Vincent, and ah yes, Valemon. She recognized the latter especially well as she clearly remembered threatening to run the Starpool red with his blood if he didn't explain why he was upon their territory. Idly, she wondered if he was still frightened of her. She didn't vocalize her inquiry though, merely fixating a tired gaze upon Alisaie. "You need proper training," She murmured, a slight strain lacing her tone. Lightning was all fun and games until it got too wild to handle and personally, Agathe didn't enjoy the thought of perhaps stumbling upon an electrocuted clanmate. "You'll be a valuable asset once you're stronger," the Astral Seraph continued, a sigh leaving her lips as she sank to the ground. She was still exhausted and goddess above, that pain hadn't subsided. Maybe this conversation would do wonders for her.
