THE END IS WRITTEN||sekai - valemon - 11-04-2018

VALEMON
male — 14 months — ascendants — member — tags — rped by Autumnleaf
Val was often puzzled by things. One such thing had risen from memory when he’d met Sekai at the border. While her actions were confusing, this in particular had little to with his sister.

He found his thoughts lingered on Anakin.

Why, when his father was dead, he wasn’t sure. But, occasionally, he could feel the former sith’s presence. Even there, as his heart ached by his sister’s rejection. Others might say things like ‘the memories and feelings of loved ones never really leave us’... this was different. Valemon struggled to make sense of it... especially after the strange delivery of a stuffed falcon.

Anakin must have somehow brought it to him. Who else could ‘A’ be? ‘Take care of it’. Val could almost hear his father saying these words in his deep, comforting voice. Maybe it was a foolish hope to cling to, but Valemon did. He held onto it with his dear life, just as he hugged the toy bird as he slept every night.

Almost out of nowhere, Valemon had started to feel tired. Becoming reacquainted with Sekai seemed to drain him. But, he didn’t go home like he told her he would. Not right away. Instead, he took a walk by himself. At first, he thought that maybe something in the territory would distract him. He was wrong. The Starpool seemed to have lost his interest. Even the birds above, likely flying away for the winter, didn’t get him excited. Just as lost as ever, Valemon decided to make his way home - perhaps to take a much needed rest.

LET THE BROKENNESS BE FELT ‘TIL YOU REACH THE OTHER SIDE
Father. It caused mixed feelings in her chest. For one, she knew it was not his fault that Luke stabbed his chest box with a lightsaber. However, he didn't appear to be as of much help, as more of a father. He left cryptic warnings and chose not to show up. If you were doomed to stay on this planet, at least spend some time with your children.

The dark-furred lioness had noticed Valemon taking a walk. Instead of going with him, trying to apologize, Sekai huffed and snuck into his house. She was quiet, she was quick. Like darkness was. And in his room, she  saw something. Something that reminded her of Anakin. That stupid, stupid toy! Valemon still kept it! He needed to grow up. And she would teach him how. The stuffed falcon would die. She unsheathed her claws and took it, snarling angrily. And she started tearing it apart, feeling the stuffing between her claws. Her golden eyes glinted. Yes! This would teach her "baby brother" a lesson. She watched as its face turned into nothing, was molded into nothing. She ripped off the wings, shaking them with her head like a dog and tossing them. Good. Perhaps he would finally grow up now. After all was said and done, the chocolate-colored feline would stand, proud of her handiwork.

The lion’s eyelids were heavy when he finally made it back to his home. But, taking in the sight he was met with, they widened in shocked surprise as his mouth simultaneously dropped open.

Sekai. What had she done?

Valemon rushed to the mess of stuffing and shredded fabric, perhaps knocking into his sister in the process. His poor falcon. It hadn’t even been given a name yet. Val had still been debating between River and Sky. Now... now it was ruined.

His thoughts were racing so quickly that his body seemed frozen for several moments, staring at the gruesome scene. Then, he snapped out of it. Diving for the floor, he tried to scoop up the remnants of his toy into a big pile. Fix it... it had to be fixed. Val would fix it. Find someone to fix it. Sekai couldn’t -

Sekai.

In a split second, Val’s expression changed from panic to one of hurt. Betrayal. Rage. Valemon couldn’t remember the last time he’d felt this angry. He rounded on his sister, revealing his teeth and his eyes that were now overflowing with pained tears. “Sekai!! Sekai, no!!” he yelled as loud as he could, his voice shaking with sobs. “No, no, no, NO!! BAD SEKAI!!

Then, Val slumped to the floor, covering his head and ears with his front paws. His moment of anger was over. But this was all still too much. How could she do this? How could anyone do this, much less his sister? What he done to deserve this? As his cries shook his body, he managed to whisper one final word. Why?”

Fuck! She didn’t want him to be around! Want him to have seen her in the act. She just wanted to make it like someone had done it. It didn’t have to be her. It didn’t have to be her. But why would she have done it? She watches him, how his chocolate gaze widens, how his mouth parts, he couldn’t take it in. She moves back, stumbling away from the toy falcon.

She watches her brother, who was bigger than her, try to make it into one pile. He looked scared, so scared. That wasn’t the intent, fear wasn’t. It was to make him sad. Not scared of her!

And then. He looked hurt, but still not of sadness. Of anger. Of rage. His voice thundered in her ears, the way his teeth were bared despite he was crying. Sekai no. That made sense. Bad Sekai. What was she? A dog? Her ears flatten and her tail drops.

Then, before he even made a move, he was slumped on the ground. He was hiding himself. She listens to his cries, frowning. That wasn’t... the right way to teach a lesson. The lion was starting to feel guilty, especially after being asked why.  "Valemon, I’m sorry. I don’t know what came over me. But... I can fix i— oh. You wouldn’t want me doing that. I can get someone to fix it... I’m so, so sorry Valemon. I just wanted you to stop being foolish and trusting everyone. And I thought this was the way. "

//I have the urge to give Sekai a hug

No. He didn’t want her to fix it. He didn’t want her to touch his toy... not now.

But, her apology did not fall on deaf ears. Whatever was happening... whatever had made her behave this way... it seemed to have faded. At least for now. The lion slowly untucked his paws from over his ears and gazed up at his sister. Yes, he was larger than Sekai but anyone who saw them now might think he was cowering before her.

I just wanted you to stop being foolish and trusting everyone. She’d answered his question. Why? Because Valemon was foolish. Too trusting.

He tried, he really did. But every attempt to look at the world from a cold, calculating vantage point only made him scared. Val didn’t like living as if he were walking on glass, questioning every individual’s motives, always looking behind to see what might be coming to kill him. So, why not make things fun and light? Perhaps it was narrow minded searching for what little good might be in those he met. Maybe his obliviousness would someday be the death of him. At least he wouldn’t be constantly on edge. At least he wouldn’t have a distant attitude and no friends.

But, was this philosophy wrong? Apparently Sekai thought so. “‘s bad? I ‘m bad?” If this was the lesson, Valemon would try and understand.

Even if Valemon didn't like the idea, she decided she still wanted to. Saying sorry and apologizing was one thing, but meaning it, and trying to make it right, make it better were different things. She watches him slowly take his paws off of his face, and her eyes held sympathy, guilt, and remorse. By the Force, did she really need to do that? It wasn't bad if he was trusting. No, if anything, it made her world brighter. When he asked if he was bad, the lion was choking up, and tears formed in her eyes. She had to force them down as she managed to get a small answer out. "No, no of course not. I just, didn't want you hurt, and that was part of it."

She just wanted him to be safe. Val was struggling to connect this desire with the action of tearing up his toy. It just wasn’t fitting. The lion sighed, his gaze sinking to the ground. Perhaps he’d have to trust Sekai on this one, that it was possible to want the best for him yet... do something like this. He knew emotions could be confusing sometimes. And, although impulsive wasn’t in Valemon’s vocabulary, it might be used to describe his own actions when he got excited.

“Don’ have to worry,” he muttered, almost to himself. “Daddy protect us.” The words had left his mouth even before he’d realized what he was about to say. His gaze snapped up, watching to see what reaction she’d have to his statement. “Uh... new home. We have new home. New friends. To be safe.” Val wasn’t completely sure why he was attempting to comfort her after what she’d done. Maybe it was the sight of her close to crying.
