odyssey / healer try outs - no more - 11-03-2018

[align=center][div style="max-width: 360px; line-height:120%; font-family: calibri; font-size: 8.5pt; text-align: justify; margin-bottom:5px"]It's almost funny how life seems nothing more than an endless cycle working back onto itself. Almost.

For a time he had been one of a select few counted amongst the Necro Mambas, though there was nothing secretive about them it was the work, intricate and difficult leading into the possibility of death if one made a mistake. Handling venomous creatures, poisons and antidotes that may not work, dealing with infection and the possibility of illness transferred in the contact of blood, the life of another within your hands. The stress of it had been crushing, a stone upon bony shoulders unprepared to bear it, but all too proud had he been to allow another to take it. Some aspects had become enjoyable, great had become his respect for the creatures life gave them and their natural defences, the way the body functioned less an unknown though he cared not to see some of it again.

Back open, the curve of spine split though there was nothing clean about the break, the savagery of it all given no plan though the execution was well done. Through pursed lips a breath escaped, whistling as it passed the teeth. Difficult was it to hold such memory, one of few permitted to arise as though something sought only to hurt him. Nothing before that day was present, a childhood lacking much joy but enjoy he sought to take it back, hold memory of her without that.

“Anyun that wants ta heal get yer fuckin asses over 'ere,” voice rose in a sudden call, the darkly toned bengal sitting close by the open observatory doors. Easier was it to do this in the open with the light of the afternoon sun upon him, the suffocating space of the building all too much when his mind raced already, wanted to call this all off. He had no want to do this but had seen the need for it, the clear lack of healers, at least within official capacity, likely to bring only ruin. Halfhearted had been his offer and yet Agathe had taken him up on it, though there had been no enthusiasm behind her words.

“Chief gave me the go ahead ta set this up so don' fuckin say nutin. Adults ya know da drill, hold a lesson, demonstrate, anytin, but it ain' gonna be enough ta just host a lesson, sumone is injured I wanna see your ass there 'elpin, show me ya have a level head an know what ya talkin about. Kids ya with me, I'll hold a private lesson wit ya, see what ya know an how quickly ya pick up on things, basics only a course.” Though panic touched the thoughts swirling within his head there was nothing to show such upon the rigid set of his expression, the single dark eye focused straight ahead. He remembered his own trial, scampering about the island in search of distinct herbs he had to put name and use to, a task he had done poorly at but his aunt had seen something in him. Time had proven her wrong on such, just as it had taken her from them.

[align=center][div style="width: 500px; text-align: justify; font-family: Verdana; font-size: 12px; color;"]Agathe was nothing more than a silent force situated near the Observatory doors. While her face betrayed none of her thoughts, the Astral Seraph admittedly could not be more relieved that someone was taking the initiative in setting up healer try outs. Every instinct in her body wanted to scream that such would not be necessary, that if an injured or sick person wanted to survive, they had to work for it and heal themselves. She merely shook her head, quietly reminding herself (as she had so many times previously) that this was no longer the battle hardened encampment she was heir to. The Ascendants was different and she'd be damned if she ever made them suffer even a minuscule of the pain she once did.

"Come talk to Titan or I when you feel like you found some good candidates," The snow leopard murmured. She'd stay and make her own observations, though she trusted the opinions of a former healer a little more than her own. She just hoped that they would find somebody soon.

(rushed!)

Re: odyssey / healer try outs - FUBUKI - 11-03-2018

[align=center][div style="text-align: justify; width: 60%; font-family: georgial; font-size: 11pt;"]If no one else is willing. It was the phrase he'd used at the meeting, as the male approached the quiet scene it was a sentence that still stuck with him. With the male's intent of being distanced from the aid that the group could offer him, instead choosing a life of independence, there was no denying that learning medicine would greatly assist him whenever he was off the territory. The double edged sword came with the fact that he was putting an unnecessary target on his back for enemies, and would most likely be barred from action against other groups. Such a thought pattern seemed selfish when few were intrigued to walk down a path of medicine, with those creatures most likely having a similar thought pattern to him in regards to the rank, a standstill had been reached. Whose self-righteousness would break between the candidates?

"What I said at the meeting is still valid," he confirmed, flicking an ear. Ren wouldn't go out of his way to impress, the most he'd do was read some medicinal books in the evening, but at least if this stranger was backed into a corner in regards of who to pick they knew that there was one willing to step up. He didn't think anyone else would - the plan to hold a training lesson seemed redundant. If one knew already how to teach others accurately about herbs, surely they would've gladly proclaimed that they'd be a medic. So far, no one had done such thing. Shaking his head, the Guardian slid up closer towards Agathe, claws flexing in thought.

[align=center][div style="width: 540px; text-align: justify; font-family: helvetica; font-size: 9pt; line-height: 1.4;"]"Is it good for fighting?" She reckons that it has to be - you're going to get injuries so knowing how to heal them would be good. That means despite not knowing that learning to heal would lock her into a position that would force her away from combat training, she's still interested in learning to heal.

Wouldn't it be ironic? Come to the Ascendants to train as a warrior, but be locked into the life of a medic.

VALEMON
male — 14 months — ascendants — member — tags — rped by Autumnleaf
Val had joined not knowing what an observatory was. Now it seemed the only place he wanted to be.

The lion hadn’t even been close to finishing exploring when an unfamiliar voice caught his attention. He might’ve ignored whatever this was and resumed his adventure - mostly due to to the fact whoever this was had a terrible habit of using curse words Val had learned to hate. But, if he were to listen past that, he gathered this was about healing.

He was brought back to the many herb lessons he’d had with Shine and Lessa. To him, they’d always been a better use of time than honing his powers or fighting skills. And maybe it’d be useful in helping to take his mind off of the slightly rocky joining he’d had.

Valemon scampered through the doors, his eyes instantly locking onto Ren. The feline was a familiar figure, and one that he knew was friendly. So, Val stopped beside the tom to have a listen to the bengal giving the announcement. A private lesson? He couldn’t wait!

[align=center][div style="max-width: 360px; line-height:120%; font-family: calibri; font-size: 8.5pt; text-align: justify; margin-bottom:5px"][ ] ;; – “Of course,” gentle words, uneasy the tone about though the structure of them is simplistic. He may not speak upon the matter of time, how long it would prove necessary to conduct this for though their numbers were significant, each day bringing with it another seeking shelter, such did not speak of their abilities. Almost were the words upon tongue, want to push aside this duty he had taken upon his shoulders for he was capable of such, trained even if it was incomplete. Better would it be to permit another who held more training, who held the care for the patients that lacked in a heart which beat in empty hollow.

That is the thing about pride though, bitter a pill is it to swallow and so instead he would endure, allow himself this though clear was his lack of want.

Lift of dark gaze where it had settled upon the soil, found the first to dare approach. Strange was the way he spoke, his remark at the meeting lost upon the youth for he was not one amongst those there, uncaring for such great numbers. Yet there was a lack of such line of thought as the scrutinising eye found Ren, this man who spoke as though he bore anything when he seemed to have no want to prove himself, simply allowing himself to be counted. Standstill may it be for some, stagnant a placement, but such was only a possibility of one allowed it to be as such. Slow had been his own training but steadily had he learnt how to defend himself, a field medic if one dared to call him such, meant to wander the field of battle to assist in any way he could. Such was an idea unappealing to some for a target was painted upon the back in that position, clear their identity and easy a target, distracted in their want to go about their work before anything else.

“No,” thought spiralled further and mouth worked with its aid, sharp the curl of dark lips. “Ya can fight a course, if Chief is okay wit it-” eye found her once more, brief this break in attention before upon the canine dark eye settled “-but ya ar nutin more den a bigger target. Ya work is here fer da most part, 'elpin once the action is done.”

Re: odyssey / healer try outs - BILLIE - 11-13-2018

[align=center][div style="width: 500px; font-family: raleway; text-align: justify; line-height: 13px;"]billie, of course, couldn’t evennimagine being a healer. blah blah blah, noble cause and all that crap, but it didn’t appeal to her, only the idea of it. it was a nice fantasy, charging into a situation and knowing how to fix it. she liked that idea, fixing shit instead of ruining it. but at the end of the day, she was good at ruining. she’d never fixed something a day in her life, and frankly she figured it was a little late to start learning how to fix.

still, fantasies were always nice, and maybe she could live vicariously through those applying. “just here to watch.” she said simply, and the panthress sat off to the side, watching with a curious glint in her eyes.
