FRESH FROM THE FIGHT // JOINING - STEVE - 10-24-2018 [div style="width: 500px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 9.5pt; line-height: 1.4;letter-spacing:.1px"]He was never any good at doing what he was supposed to. As a kid, that meant he hadn't stayed inside like his mother said, because it didn't seem fair that he had to watch the other children play just because of what might happen. Though it did, several times, "it" being a bout of asthma that laid him out for some mild cold to drag him into the next week. He hadn't stopped after that, though, still chased after the can with the rest of them, scraping it around an alley of a city more plant than building. While it was dangerous for his health -what wasn't, back then?- he hadn't wanted anyone to think he was fragile. They did anyway, and he assumed it was simultaneously surprising and unsurprising when they saw him come back out after several weeks. He always managed to make it through his ailments, but none of them were holding their breath. If he died, it wouldn't be too shocking. Obviously, he hadn't died. When he got older, after his mother died, instead of kicking around a can, he more or less became the can. Not for no reason. Some of those kids he risked death to play with grew up into assholes who wouldn't know respect if it gave them a black eye, which Steve aspired to do. Rarely accomplished, but he tried. It was more than what some people did, and at least he was the only one at the receiving end. He hadn't really grown out of that. "Hey, let the kid go." He gave his best disapproving stare, pulling himself up to his full height, but it wasn't much compared to the larger, muscled felines. They did, at least, stop pushing around the boy, who took off without another glance. Small victories. "Don't you have something better to do than shakedown children?" "Think we'll teach you a lesson instead." "You don't look like any schoolmarm I've-" All the air was slammed from his lungs, and he was dazed for several seconds, resisting the way his chest wanted to quiver and compress. He glared at the larger feline, and bit down on one of the paws pressed into his shoulder, hard enough to draw blood, and his attacker pulled away sharply. "Little shit!" Steve rolled over and scrambled to stand, but that stupidly left him open for the other feline to slam him back down, this time on his stomach, and he gave a wheeze. He thrashed as much as he could, the claws in his shoulders drawing blood. "Did you say something, mouse?" The paw pressing his head into the dirt briefly relinquished, and Steve sucked in air. "I said," he started, spitting out bits of dirt, "you should lay off stealing food for a little while. Pretty heavy back there." He'd barely finished when his head was back in the ground, and he attempted to gain some space from it, but he wasn't strong enough to lift the guy up at all. Still, at least the kid got away. //feel free to powerplay the two felines! It wasn't everyday that she came upon a scene like this, or was alerted so suddenly by it either. The kid had ran straight into her large form and tumbled back from her. She could see the fear in his gaze and he had quickly pointed back to where he had come from. Her instinct was to go and find out what was going on. Needless to say she made her way to where the child had been instructing her to go, jaws slightly parted as her thick forked tongue tasted the air around her. The smells didn't line up frankly and she already understood that these were no Sunhaveners upon her territory. Her fur rose in hackles and that just forced her to make herself get their just a bit quicker because of the possible endangerment that the situation could have. Her vivid green gaze narrowed as she crested the hill only to see two felines shoving another creature's face into the dirt. They were rogues as clear as day and she could smell their scent from where she was. It didn't make her any happier to see them here either and so the massive hellhound cleared her throat as she approached the group. "Excuse me, I ain't know there was a party at my place. Ya seemed tae have forgotten tae invite me." There was no measure of humor in her voice, only a chilling cold as she glared at the two felines who jolted upon seeing her large size. Frankly it seemed as if they hadn't seen anything like it and she could see the terror that gripped them. Her smile turned a little dangerous, a bit leering as her tongue flicked out to swipe along large teeth. "Scram before I make a snack out of ya!" Though she wouldn't do that as she was on a mostly fish diet herself and that was all she ate. But they seemed to take the threat as real and they raced off leaving the one that they had been smushing against the ground to fend for himself. Lowering her body a bit so she was on level with him she allowed herself to relax, fur beginning to lay flat against her body. "Oi, ya alrigh'? Name's Marina and ya got yaself in a bit of a predicament there. This is Sunhaven by the way." "SPEECH"

All Buckingham was hoping for in a patrol nowadays was some peace and quiet. Despite all of his efforts to start over, forget his awful past, it all came spitting back in his face. It all started with getting accused of murder, but he wasn't about to elaborately think about that. All it did was open other doors to worse situations- Asset relapses, and a brewing conflict with the Ascendants. Now, he can't shove the Asset to the side- it's no longer sitting in silence waiting for him to grow comfortable. He can't be reckless, especially after two relapses in a short amount of time. The Winter Soldier came back in full swing. Though, the Asset has only taken control in extreme circumstances. Each circumstance had their own trigger to set the male off, he wasn't about to go out of control for running across a fight or a murder scene. So, he didn't have any worries of a potential relapse number three when his ears pricked up at the sounds of a fight. None of the scents that were invading his nostrils smelled familiar to him. At that moment, he knew this fight didn't involve any of his clanmates, but it was occurring in Sunhaven territory. Knowing he had to abandon his patrol, the male quickly changed paths, heading in the direction of the scuffle. His walking quickly turned into a sprint, ears pinned back to his skull as he tried to reach the scene as quickly as he could. But, Marina beat him to it. The Warden came skidding to a stop, his gaze landing on Marina as she threatened and bared her pearly whites at the two muscular rogues. As the threat sunk into their skin, the former assassin watched the true colors of the two males show. They looked petrified, actually believing Marina would make a snack out of them if they didn't start moving. They act as if they're so strong and mighty, but in actuality- they're nothing but cowardly bullies. Nobodies. Buckingham watched the two rogues run away, their tails tucked between their legs. His tail slowly swished behind him as they retreated, yowling out to them, "And you both better not come back!" Once the two rogues were out of sight, Bucky turned his attention to the feline who became their punching bag. Buckingham has enhanced senses, meaning he can pick up scents and sounds more than average. He heard another set of paws running away as he ran over here. He also heard Steve standing up to the bullies- though he didn't expect him to be so small. He blinked with surprise for a moment as he took note of Steve's slender figure, and how he was a little smaller than the average domestic feline. "Damn, you got some guts going against those guys- you alright?" The maine coon asked as his gaze locked on Steve, a tufted ear flicking. "I'm Buckingham by the way." Re: FRESH FROM THE FIGHT // JOINING - STEVE - 10-25-2018 [div style="width: 500px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 9.5pt; line-height: 1.4;letter-spacing:.1px"]Fortunately for Steve, a voice cut through before he could lose consciousness to dirt-smothering, and he wished he could see who'd decided to step in a little sooner. Instead, he was restricted to listening to her accented voice scare the britches off the bullies, and frankly, he was a bit worried this was one of those "out of the frying pan and into the fire" situations. It wouldn't be the first time someone seemed to lend a hand, only to take a turn themselves at pushing him around. Maybe it was entertaining. Steve would never understand, but at least for the moment, he was free. He pushed himself back up to his paws, still wheezing, and once he blinked the spots out of his vision, he had to do a bit of a double take at the sight of his savior. She was- well, she was tall. Steve wondered if it was uncomfortable for her to crouch so low, but of course he wouldn't ask that aloud. Didn't seem like the right thing to say to the person who saved his skin. "Tougher than I look. I'm Steve. Thanks for the hand." It was more than that, but he probably could have gotten them off eventually. Maybe. "You wouldn't actually eat them, would you?" Not what he meant to say. "I'm not calling you a- maneater or- anything. And I'm not saying that's a bad thing if you were, I-" The feline decided to shut his mouth before anything worse spilled out, but at least there wasn't room for an awkward silence since it wasn't just the two of them anymore. Steve took care not to stare too much at the prosthetic leg the dark tabby had, though he'd never really seen limbs like it before. Usually, people went without a replacement or had one with low functionality, at least in his experience. Steve had an urge to draw it, but saying that rarely went well, so he preserved the picture in his head as best he could. The feline wasn't as tall as Marina -he had never met someone that large- though he was still larger than Steve, no surprise there. He wondered if the guy would even notice if Steve were to stand on him. "Anyone else woulda done the same," he answered evenly, a small uptick to one corner of his mouth. "I had 'em on the ropes." Buckingham. Like Buckingham Palace? Steve didn't blurt that part out, luckily. He coughed, situating himself so his good side better faced the two. Didn't want to miss out on anything they were saying. "Appreciate the back-up, Buckingham. You said this is Sunhaven?" The question was directed toward Marina, bright gaze aimed her way.

Cryptic came upon the scene just as th two felines nearly ran smack dab into his armour - which wouldn't have ended well for them considering Cryptic himself was an immovable object it seemed, looking down on the both of them with a narrow eyed azure gaze - eerie enough with the slitted pupils before they scooted around him and away. his eyebrows raise before he looks back on the three - Bucky, Marina and steve as the stranger called himself and the angelus meandered closer with a brisk nod "yes this is sunhaven" before his attention flickers to marina "Want me to make sure they leave the territory?" he did play local security most of the time - only sad he'd been on outer patrol or the two mighta been caught sooner. "That would be much appreciated Cryptic." The woman spoke after a moment of silence. She hadn't thought of making sure they had left their home but she should be more vigilant when it came to intruders like that. Especially if they were causing trouble like this and bullying others into the ground. But she didn't speak her thoughts, learning from her soft mistakes before she focused her snake like eyes back on the one who had gathered all of this attention on him."Steve, was it? We are Sunhaven yeah. We are a merchant type group who goes about our days selling and trading with other groups that live by except for the Ascendants and the Pitt. Ya are free tae live here with us if you want and to create ya own shop to sell goods." There was a small amused smile pulling at her muzzle as he stumbled to speak about the situation and what had happened. The question he posed to her allowed a light chuckle to leave her throat and she waved a paw in the air before shaking her head slightly. "Nah, I ain't gonna eat 'em. I'm mostly on a fish diet so they ain't got tae worry about little ol' me gobblin' them up. Come on, we'll escort ya back tae the village." Raising to her paws the woman would shake herself before turning and beckoning to the group with one of her tails. "SPEECH"
