But she had to get better first. She only knew a few basic things, which was good but wouldn't help much in a warbound clan. She wanted to be prepared, to be able to treat more extreme injuries. She knew that Ninazu had been the healer once, and while she had thought about asking her to teach her a few things, she eventually decided against it. She had no reason to teach her, nor did she really seem eager to pass on knowledge. So, Cosette searched through one of the temples, picking out whatever books she found on healing. She didn't know how to read, but she did manage to find some with pictures, which was better than nothing. Some of them she was proud to realize that she recognized. But, ultimately, by the time she closed the first book, she was left just as lost and frustrated as before. It was hard, knowing how close it all was and yet not being able to get to it. But she didn't give up--not yet. Instead she slides the next book over, going to flipping through it's pages to see if it was any better. It's wording was a little simpler, and there were more pictures for her to look at. Finally feeling like she was getting somewhere, she smiled to herself as she continued through. CAUGHT UP IN A RUSH, IT'S KILLING YOU
The serval remembered seeing Cosette at the tryouts -- remembered seeing the woman pick out one of the easier dummies. Still, everyone started somewhere and nobody knew everything. With so few healers in a warbound clan like this, Ninazu remembered everyone with an interest in healing; she hated feeling as though she held the health of the entire group in her paws. She thought about this as she walked into the temple, as she usually did this time of the week. Even experienced healers needed to review their material and learn new methods; Ninazu was no fool, she knew her knowledge had limits, and how difficult it was to know those limits without pushing them. Quietly she stalked through the halls, large ears twitching as she passed through the bookshelves. She heard the pawsteps and shuffling pages, just before she turned a corner and saw Cosette. "Looking for anything in particular, or just browsing?" she asked, stoic in her expression. She liked seeing that Cosette took further interest in expanding her skills; if she didn't have the weight of patching everyone on her shoulders, she'd appreciate that a lot more knowing the other medic of the group knew their shit. Though she didn't like socializing, she liked learning -- and teaching came close enough to that. She lifts her head and smiles softly at the other female, glancing back down at the book upon hearing her question. "Oh, I'm just looking through." she answers. Though she could only look at the pictures provided, she was still getting a few things from it, learning about other herbs she didn't know. Now that she thought about it, she was glad Ninazu was here. "Um, I was wondering," Cosette starts as she sits up. "would you mind teaching me more about herbs? I mean, I know a few things, but--um, not a lot." she was a bit flustered, but her want to become a better healer outweighed it, not wanting to throw away her chance at being useful. |
