MIRROR'S DECEIT | private, moon - FUBUKI - 10-07-2018

Believe it or not, it was much easier to enjoy the territory when your head wasn't spinning like a tilt-a-whirl. Though rather conveniently avoiding civilisation whenever there were suggestions of sending patrols out, Ren found free time to practically do the exact same thing out of curiosity. He liked being near other creatures, but as soon as work was mentioned it seemed that his body just didn't want to cooperate with him. If he was doing it through his own accord, it just felt different, and allowed him to take paths along the hillsides which may've been neglected otherwise. One such path had led him to making a rather interesting discovery. Admittedly, on a scale of college lecture to a surfing T-rex with biceps, it landed on a lecture's side in terms of intrigue, but regardless, it was odd enough for the feline to try bringing it back to camp. That item in question? Just a simple chess board and set, kept inside a weather-worn pizza-sized box. Most likely it'd been left out by some neglectful Observatory goers, it was finder's keepers now though and Ren was gonna capitalise on his catch of the day before his peers got second thoughts about abandoning the poor thing.

A bump in the road had quickly been hit though when he realised two things: one, he had no clue how to play chess and two, it wasn't exactly easy to carry a box when you had no opposable thumbs and the box was a bit too awkward to carry in his mouth. He'd tried, but he'd ended up dragging the already beaten up specimen through the dirt and Ren wasn't keen on being yet another one who'd abuse the chess set. So, he'd come up with a compromise. Using the necklace he'd gotten from his induction, one used for beads that strangely enough had no beads on them (with all of his 'free time', he hadn't thought about fleshing it out a bit), he'd weaved it through pre-existing errosion holes and tied them as best as he could. Ren slipped his head through the necklace, and cool as it would've been to have such a large pendant, he only pushed it as far as his chin went. Digging vexingly into the flesh underneath his jaw, Ren tilted his head back, letting the board's box sit uncomfortably atop of his cranium. Though squashing his ears down and sending his whole body left and right whenever he tilted it a bit too much, the feline was smirking through it.

Pretty ingenious, right? It was what he thought at least, and with his new hat settled on his head the feline started making his way back to the Observatory. A brief thought of embarrassment occurred within him, but such simple emotions was masqueraded almost suddenly by pride in himself. Forget fixing relations between the Ascendants and Sunhaven or causing world peace, at the current moment in time this felt like the biggest possible achievement ever, and he'd happily show it off. With a confidant strut perhaps odd to see out of someone who remained inoffensive most of the time, Ren deciding to go the long and inconvenient way back to see how long he could keep the box on his head for and perhaps catch the eye of others whilst he was at it.

[size=9pt]The world's different upside down. Not as in everything's the opposite way up, or like the sky is green and the ground is blue, but like-- It feels different. Foggy. Blurred. Easier to understand.

Or maybe the blood is going to his head. Yeah. That's probably it. He's been sprawled out on his back on top of a flat rock for the past ten, fifteen, maybe twenty minutes - he doesn't fuckin' know - with his head hanging off the edge, staring into the distance with glassy eyes. Drifting. Letting things be. It's easier to do when he feels like he's about to black out. The thundering of his heart slows down and his throat doesn't feel so tight anymore-- probably because he's distracted by how swollen his head feels, but, you know, it doesn't matter. At least he can breathe.

It's a pretty fucking dark realization, that he's been having problems doing the one thing his body was built for doing, lately, and maybe he should stop for a moment, sit up and think about it-- about what's going on with him, why he's freaking out so entirely and dealing with it so badly, but then a cat with a box on its head walks into his line of sight and that's a good excuse to leave the whole internal therapy session 'till another time, right?

With a foggy mind, it takes him a few moments to call out. He's feeling a bit slow, today.

"Ren." He says, but it comes out quiet because apparently he's forgotten how to work his body, so he tries again. "Ren!" Great. Good job, Moon. Half way there. "Whaf are nyini--" No, that's not right. Take two. "What... carry you." Nailed it.

[align=center][div style="text-align: justify; width: 60%; font-family: georgial; font-size: 11pt;"]As if by magic, someone had indeed found the feline on his journey. All according to plan he would've said, had the lion who found him been a bit more functional. Trying his hardest not to move his head around, for he could feel the pieces shifting in place without the jerking, Ren moved one of his flattened ears in acknowledgement of his leader. 'What carry you...'. Ever the cunning linguist, Ren figured it'd only be respectable to respond to Moonmade with a similar etiquette. He barely had time to think about whether or not those Jedi folk were tempted to speak to their green master in the same way Ren was about to speak to his own, for his mouth had opened long before he'd thought it over properly. "Me carry hat. Good it is," he purred with a smirk, lowering his head to let the box slide off onto the unforgiving ground once more. The tomcat swore he heard the cardboard groan, or perhaps that was just his stomach telling him that he should've focused on eating instead of carrying this around.

Perhaps taking advantage of someone else's difficulties was going a little too far, but Moon was a big boy and the male was sure the big cat could handle the teasing. There'd been times before where he'd abused his toneless delivery to mock others and so far none of the lions had tried to kill him, so Ren considered that an invitation to relax more around them. The worry that one day they were gonna snap and turn him into a pussy cat pate had dissipated the moment he chose to lay in the same camp as them. "Chess board. Pieces too... a Pawn or two look chewed though,". Tiny toothmarks in them suggested the work of kittens, there were so many of the critters running about that he'd be surprised if one of them wasn't the culprit. He doubted someone like Onision would have munchies that only plastic could sastify - he was the only other maturing creature that Ren could think of that was his size and capable of being a menace to the poor board game.

"Do you... know how to play maybe? Or would you rather wake up before doing some smart stuff?".
