tonight stars -- joining - Verdigris - 09-30-2018 [font=trebuchet ms]To anyone else, the thought of going hungry for three days, crashing into a hive, being attacked by a swarm of bees, stumbling over a root in a desperate bid to get away and plummeting off a cliff, landing in stagnant water, and catching a cold as a result would have seemed too absurd to take seriously. It was too absurd to take seriously. No one ever suffered through that many unfortunate events in a row. Yet for Fleabane, this was actually par for the course. She was alive, and her limbs were all intact, but that provided little comfort as she trudged onward, keeping ears out for food and trying not to sniffle too loudly. Maybe she'd find an elderly mouse, or a trapped squirrel, or something that just so happened to have worse luck than she did at this particular moment. The stings and bruises dotting her form were uncomfortable, but by now the need to eat (and survive) outweighed the pain. It was as the mountains came into view, and she internally resigned herself to the likelihood of falling off yet another cliff, that her illness-weakened nose detected the scent of other animals. Quite a few other animals, in fact. Were they friendly, or were they predators? It wasn't as though she would make a very good snack, sick and malnourished as she was at the moment- in a way, perhaps her bout of bad luck was a blessing in disguise. (Probably not, but she would take what she could get.) The worst they could do was chase her off. Maybe she could even get something to eat before her continuous streak of bad luck struck again and she was forced to flee. With a sigh, Fleabane came to a stop next to a tree and leaned against it, checking briefly to make sure it wasn't crawling with fire ants. For once, the bark was insect-free. A low chuckle escaped her, but she otherwise said nothing, her eyes watching the horizon for other animals. People didn't usually take kindly to strangers crossing their borders, regardless of how desperate their situation was. Re: tonight stars -- joining - PIERCE - 10-01-2018 [div style="margin-top: 30px; text-align: center; font-family: timesnewroman; font-size: 35px; color: white;"]pierce parker ☀ — 'cause i love you's not enough, i'm lost for words space Pierce didn't have the best luck either, though the pain and misfortune he was put through was typically different from Fleabane's. Not nearly as constant, that was for sure, and usually in more of the emotional sense than physical. That said, the numerous scars that littered his form were cold proof of the horrors he had endured throughout his lifetime. He tried not to look at them throughout the day, as, even after all this time, he still hadn't quite gotten over the memories that lingered with them, nor their ugly appearance even when they were slightly hidden by fur. The slender Goldenblood had been on his usual walk around the territory - he wasn't sure he could truly call it a patrol, as a lot of it consisted of him stopping to pick flowers or to make a rough sketch of something cool he saw to redo later - when he spotted Fleabane propped up against the tree, large ears perking forward slightly. "Hey-" he called to the younger femme, small paws car placed rather carefully as he meandered over to speak with her properly. "This is Sunhaven, if you didn't know," explained Pierce, a little, though undeniably kindhearted smile finding its way to his maw. "The name's Pierce, I'm an assistant deputy here. Mind if I ask what business you may have with us?" It had certainly been a while since Pierce had had any sort of authority in a clan, but he was readjusting quite well- that's what over a year as vice-leader did to you, he guessed. "speech" space

ouch. venus wasn't quite sure they had the strength to stomach all that bad karma practically exuding from the pitiful fleabane, recoiling at the mere thought of bee stings. but apparently some quacks liked to use stings as a form of therapy. that besides the point though, this kind of bad luck had no place in venus' abode - some of their experiments already ended in disaster after the next and to think that someone like fleabane could bring even more of that bad energy to the kitsune was a no-no. but venus wasn't aware of the bad time that sad fleabane was having, to the silver hued kitsune fleabane was just a scruffy looking stray. arriving some time after pierce, venus spared the fellow sunhavener a glance as they bumbled their way to the border to get a look at the foreigner. peculiar. the kitsune had simply come to have a walk, let their idea juices flow and get some good hypothesis up and running, but the temptation of meeting new people had venus caving. would the teen come to regret that decision? too early to tell. "yeah, basically just what he said. but also is it just me, or have you been stung by a bee or two? or maybe you've just got naturally bumpy skin? if so, i apologise for the tartness" curiously leaning in to get a better gander at fleabane's form, the girl looked even more pitiful close up. (welcome to sunhaven!!! ) Re: tonight stars -- joining - buckingham barnes - 10-01-2018
Everyone experiences luck, whether good or bad, in their own ways. Some have it worse than others, it really depends on the individual. Would Buckingham say he had some bad luck, with his past regarding the Asset/Winter Soldier? No, he wouldn't call it luck. By definition, luck means "success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one's own actions". It was not by chance that Buckingham became the Asset/Winter Soldier. It was through Ximen's actions, and eventually his own. But, would he call an unexpected relapse bad luck? After months and months of thinking freedom was at his paws? Yes, relapsing into that machine wasn't an chose that he made willingly. It was by chance, whether that's pushing his paranoia over the edge, or ambushing him. The possibilities were numerous, and each time the Asset may be triggered can be entirely different than the last. Though, tying back to the beginning- everyone has their own view on luck, Bucky's 'bad luck' can be entirely different to the person next to him. The maine coon made his way over after Venus, his light blue eyes landing on Fleabane. Much like Venus, Fleabane looked like a scruffy stray, he didn't think of the events that lead up to her appearance. For starters, Fleabane is a complete stranger, the maine coon has no idea what the Tanuki has gone through the past few days. He could easily make assumptions about her, but the maine coon decided against it. "I'm Buckingham Barnes, assistant deputy here as well," He began to introduce himself, with a swish of his bushy tail, "Feel free to call me Bucky, though." Re: tonight stars -- joining - Verdigris - 10-01-2018 [font=trebuchet ms]Someone was coming. Instinctively, Fleabane tensed up in preparation to flee- but, upon observing his apparent lack of aggression, she relaxed. He was covered in scars, so he must have seen his share of battles, but his soft tone of voice made it clear he wouldn’t hurt her. His statements, however, confused her. “Sunhaven” must have been the name of the place, and “Pierce” was his name, but what was an “assistant deputy?” And “business,” well… answering that honestly would get her turned away, more likely than not. A request for a place to stay and something to eat would be taken much more positively if she could contribute to them, but she had no idea how she would. While she puzzled over her answer, two others arrived- one also claiming to be an assistant deputy, and the other asking about the bee stings. The stings, she could answer for. “Yeah, bees,” she answered in a low voice, glancing down at the grass. “They didn’t follow me here, I don’t think.” Maybe she could keep up the pretense of hoping to join their ranks. They probably had people coming and going all the time, they wouldn’t notice her slipping out. If it turned out there was something she could do for them after all (unlikely, but not impossible), then she would stay; if the best she could do for them was remove herself from their midst, then she would do that. She wouldn’t be selfish, unlike a certain other tanuki she knew. “Uh, Fleabane,” she said finally, lifting her head to face the other three again. “Is my name, I mean. I guess I wanted to become a part of this group.” Re: tonight stars -- joining - PIERCE - 10-04-2018 [div style="margin-top: 30px; text-align: center; font-family: timesnewroman; font-size: 35px; color: white;"]pierce parker ☀ — 'cause i love you's not enough, i'm lost for words space The girl seemed confused, as if she hadn't entirely been certain of what this place she was in was, or perhaps she hadn't been expecting contact with another person at all. Judging by her mannerisms, she wasn't around others a lot, but that was just a guess. “Yeah, bees. They didn’t follow me here, I don’t think.” Though his expression didn't change, Pierce tensed up slightly, ears perking to listen for the sounds of buzzing. He wasn't afraid of bees, or anything, but he did try to keep his distance after the incident that left him nearly dead when he was young. Since then, though, he hadn't had any real trouble with the little guys. When the stranger finally managed to explain herself, Pierce's smile broadened slightly, his tail giving a slight wave. "Nice to meet you, Fleabane. You're welcome to join us- our camp's just a quick walk away. Oh, and feel free to ask me if you need help with anything, okay?" "speech" space
Re: tonight stars -- joining - Hope Arcanium - 10-05-2018 Ah, she was late. But it seemed that this stranger needed help with her wounds, perhaps? Leona would be more than willing to help care for her now that Fleabane was a part of Sunhaven. The domestic was usually cautious about anyone on or near their borders that she did not know, but a grin was on her face as she approached her clanmates. "Hi. I'm Leona, just a regular member here. Do you want me to take a look at those stings, ma'am? They look painful and I'm sure you could use some relief." Her tone was soft, the concern in both her voice and gaze was genuine. Bees were no fun when you were getting stung by them. Hell, any biting or stinging insect is a pain in the ass. Re: tonight stars -- joining - Owlie - 10-05-2018 EDWARD NYGMA WHAT AM I? The gibbon hung from the trees above, more clothes on than the last time his companions had seen him. Edward didn't have any pants yet- they restricted his movement too much so far. He had a dirty green suit and a tie that was far too long for him and stuck out of the end of the shirt. It was joose, his hair was unpampered. Some need of cleaniness was overridden by a need for comfort. "Edward Nygma." He said, hanging upside down and holding his hat on his head. "What's alive but treated like an outcast?" Re: tonight stars -- joining - Verdigris - 10-06-2018 [font=trebuchet ms]Pierce's assumptions were correct. While she had observed a lot of people, especially up until about a month ago, she hadn’t been doing much interaction with them. Never mind large groups like this. His ears perked up as she mentioned the bees. Such an attentive response was probably for the best, but she doubted they could have possibly followed her this far. As he welcomed her, she stifled a sigh of relief. For once, things were going her way. Then, all of a sudden, two more people were upon her- both of whom appeared friendly, but it was still getting rather crowded. One offered to treat the bee stings, which would be nice. The other one asked a question... "what's alive but treated like an outcast." That could be a lot of people. Was that a reference to herself? Turning to face him, she opened her mouth to answer, but stopped short of saying anything. He was something of a mess, but his suit, tie, and hat... it wasn't exactly the garish attire that she had come to associate with bitter times, but it still put her on edge. "Uh," she muttered, glancing between him and the other four. "I... don't know? Is it me?" Realizing what she had said, she shook her head. That had come out wrong. "Not that you guys are... treating me that way. You're all nice. It's just- ah, never mind." To Leona, she finally nodded. "Yes. I could." /museless Re: tonight stars -- joining - guts - 10-06-2018 "Interesting name."
She approaches next, coming in just enough time to barely catch her name. At this point she wasn't too turned off by such a thing. She had seen a few odd things in her short time here already, and someone being named Fleabane was far from the top of the list. "Welcome to our happy little town in the middle of fuck knows where. Call me Ymir." she continues on as she takes a seat. She doubted their influx of joiners wouldn't cease any time soon. She didn't hate people, but she definitely wasn't much of a people person, either, so a big part of her wasn't very excited for all the new faces. "speech" |
