Dark Phoenix / Captain Marvel Discussion - Orion - 09-27-2018
Update on this basically. Captain Marvel With the Captain Marvel being set in the past (seen by the synopsis and the de-aging of Coulsen/Fury), I do look forward to seeing how this will play out. Seeing that I've seen some spoilers (sadly) about how the movie, I'm not totally surprised by what the ending is supposed to be. After all, she can't solve problems within that movie. Anyways, I still look forward to Captain Marvel. So we'll see! Dark Phoenix Lord, I do not know how to feel about this movie. I love Sophie Turner in Game of Thrones, but I felt as if her development as Phoenix within the previous X-Men movies(which have been lackluster recently) was minimal. She felt like a background character. Not some mystical important character that would have a whole movie around them, but seeing how Jean Grey is a huge part of the comics, it's still no-brainer. Still, I wish there was more development. Hopefully when she's corrupted, we really get that personality shift that makes her stand out instead of something that's a straight up rendition of the 'destroy everything in silence' cliche. Even going through clips though, you can see in Apocolypse she does have that breaking moment where she releases her power. I do enjoy this though from the older Jean! When it comes to Wolverine, his era is over. There's no doubt about that. That means his traditional role (as seen in the clip above) has shifted onto Charles when it comes to Jean's power. Now THAT'S something I'd like to see. Magneto. My man. I love you, but sometimes.... please... just.... Pick a side. It's like the writers are in a limbo about whether or not they'd like to have Magneto succumb to the dark side. I'm ALL FOR THAT but I'm praying that the only reason he's disbanded from the group and away from them is due to previous events. He feels sorrow for that. I'm also hoping that he brought out the helmet to keep out Jean Grey's telepathic powers, not because he's delving back into the 'bad side' of things with Dark Phoenix... but we'll see... Anyways, that's my opinion. What about y'all? Re: Dark Phoenix / Captain Marvel Discussion - toboggan - 09-27-2018 i’ve sorta taken a break with the x-men flicks. for me, the last good movie was days of future past (don’t get me wrong, that’s an AWESOME movie regardless of how confusing it can get and the retcons it put in place), so dark phoenix has none of my interest invested in it. captain marvel on the other hand will be awesome (hopefully). the skrulls are badass, and i’ve wanted them in the mcu for quite a while. at this point i’m excited for any marvel cinematic universe release. though it has a fair share of continuity issues, the mcu is possibly the most seamless movie universe out there, and i love it. i’m hoping captain marvel is comparable to thor 3 (one of the best) instead of thor 2 (one of the worst) Re: Dark Phoenix / Captain Marvel Discussion - Orion - 10-02-2018
Honestly, agreed. I was more of a Wolverine / Magneto fan and really only stuck to the movies for their presence. Now that Wolverine’s legacy has ended in Logan and Magneto can’t make a choice, I’m swaying toward disinterest at this point. I still like hold onto hope though! The skrulls are definitely a key point in the series. I can’t wait to see how they interpret them in Captain Marvel, especially since they’re such a popular species (group/characters ?) within the universe. Of course we had little things like Loki’s illusions, but this is a whole new level of trickery! Speaking of the man, the myth, the legend of Loki, I hope so too. Ragnarok and GOTG are two of my faves that are super high up there. I’m hoping Captain Marvel does just as well, especially since Avengers Four would highly benefit off it if so (especially bc Adam Warlock is missing). Re: Dark Phoenix / Captain Marvel Discussion - toboggan - 10-03-2018 COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT ADAM WARLOCK! just another reason to hype for avengers 4, because it was him who ended thanos in the comics. he was technically introduced in the end-credits scene in guardians 2, which takes place in a modern-day setting, so i doubt we’ll see him in captain marvel (but time travel always exists who knows). Re: Dark Phoenix / Captain Marvel Discussion - Orion - 10-03-2018
TRUTH but I don't even know if he'll show up, seeing that the end goal of those credits is "blah blah this man is gonna destroy the guardians". Plus I doubt Marvel would deliver w/o a backstory...? Re: Dark Phoenix / Captain Marvel Discussion - Luciferr - 10-09-2018 [color=black]I reserve judgement but i am xmen fatigued tbh - also just kinda superhero fatigued in general? i'll see avengers 4 bc its a conclusion to parts but otherwise idk if i'll see any new superhero stuff, deadpool (if u can count him) mighta been an exception for me - tho possibly it might just be marvel-formula-aesthetic fatigue? idk honestly but eh I don't have a stake in Dc either except that I like batman and the JLU animated series was a childhood fav. my favs on xmen were wolverine n magneto so idk. also pls guys,,, stop killin erik's fam and put him on a gd side already. Re: Dark Phoenix / Captain Marvel Discussion - Orion - 10-10-2018
i feel you man!! for as much as i'm a huge comic book fan, it does get exhausting after awhile. i'm super hype nevertheless and can't wait for the conclusion of this marvel phase!! erik please... |
