first up is [ ] who's my smol child with no emotions whatsoever. kind of. their emotions are boiled down to three basic categories: positive, neutral and negative. their history is a bit lengthy so to keep things super brief, they were created and tossed out. they're unaware the empty feeling inside of them is because they don't have a soul and their lack of emotions is a defect in their genetic make-up as well as being isolated from other animals. due to their lack of emotions, they are completely unbiased and their decisions and assumptions are always based on logic. with that being said, they are unable to emotionally connect with another as they don't see the point in both emotions and any sort of companionship. aside from that, because they p much woke up into the world, they don't know much about it and craves knowledge. how much knowledge one possesses is how you get their attention; if the individual doesn't know much, cronas will deem them useless and p much ignore their existence bc they are of no value to them and their goal of learning everything. i also think it's important to include not only do they hold no loyalty to anyone (it's going to take them a while to warm up to another and realize having friends/family is not only beneficial, but lovely), they also are easy to manipulate. if someone told them it was alright to harm another, they would do it until someone explains to them it's not good. they also like food. a lot. please give them lots of food. they'll eat anything.

next is [ [url=https://beastsofbeyond.com/index.php?topic=2829.msg19683#msg19683]ren ], a demon who's got some issues he needs to sort out. like cronas, he's got a bit of a backstory himself (that i need to revise hhhh) but to make that long story short, he was taught how to be an terrible person by the tribe who idolizes such traits and when he realized what he was doing was wrong, he sold his soul and massacred everyone c: but because his tribe and their teachings played a large role in who he was, he's unsure of who he is now. not only is he suffering from existential crisis and identity issues, his mental and emotional state is also a mess. he's a large, powerful brute of a dude and he used his size and strength to dominate and control. he ain't about that life anymore and is doing his best to change but that's proving to be more difficult that he would like. he despises himself more than anything and in contrast to his personality when he was with his tribe, the battle-ready, heavily scarred (both physically and mentally) lynx is more reserved, slightly timid and very cautious around others. ren doesn't think v highly of himself either which explains the low self-esteem. however, he'll not allow another individual to put down themselves and has no qualms with explaining to them why they're the most beautiful creature on this planet. he has a very formal way of speaking and has a professional air about him. it's borderline impossible to tell what he's thinking, but through slight body movements it's simple to detect when he's uncomfortable. he's stupidly quick to anger and although he does everything he can to avoid physical fights, a good growl or looming form is enough to get the point across.more often than not, though, he holds himself back just long enough to inspect the situation further. he also fuckin adores kids despite not knowing how to raise them and has an incredible amount of patience when it comes to them. another thing to note is ren develops crushes heckin easily but because he's vv inexperienced with affection and love in general, he often ignores it.

  && i think it'd be fun if a child were to summon him (accidentally or purposefully) and he's clearly annoyed at first but it doesn't last long bc c'mon,, they're just a little kiddo dabbling in some dark arts. seriously, who hasn't tried to summon a demon. so ren forgives them and they continue to chat, disclosing to him a small factoid that makes his heart melt (the kid doesn't have friends, dysfunctional family, feeling lonely, shy/timid personality makes things difficult, etc) and he decides to make a contract with the child to be their protector of sorts. usually, contracts are sealed with blood but because they're just a little kid who probably doesn't know any better and has their whole life cut out for them, ren instead gives them a bell to ring or whatever else to summon him if they feel lonely or need help with something. this is probably going to be a long-term plot bc i'd love it if ren could watch them grow and they continue to used the instrument into adulthood.
