FILLING US WITH LIES | o, joining - FUBUKI - 09-23-2018 [div style="text-align: justify; width: 60%; font-family: georgial; font-size: 11pt;"]His head hurt. It was just a dull throbbing, not the worst pain that the young male had ever experienced in his life, yet with it came a sense of vertigo. The ground felt further away than it was, the knolls of the upcoming territory spinning around his vision. With gritted teeth the domestic cat pushed himself forwards, nose wrinkling meekly as the scents of claimed lands became closer and closer to him. Ren knew he needed to get there, needed to rest in a place where there was shelter in case the colder nights whipped his life away from him. On clumsy paws the loner pushed himself forwards, grey eyes squinting to try and stop his double vision from causing him further problems. Glasses dangling around his neck from a string seemed like an effective counterbalance to the blur, yet they'd do nothing in this case. Ren had whacked his head pretty hard escaping from a furious adult, feline agility faltering just enough in the face of danger to leave him colliding with a tree head first. Such carelessness from the cat was rare, but at least the accident had not caused him to lose his memories, or perhaps even worse... his life. It's your own fault he told himself, though such a scolding inner voice only resulted in Ren smirking at himself. Right, it was, showing off wasn't always going to end spectacularly for him. As a sharper throb broke through the numbing ones, the male lost his smile. Replaced with a rather neutral looking frown, the softness in his unfocused eyes suggested that at least it wasn't directed at anyone. A 'resting bitch face' one might call it, it was the best thing to call it though Ren would've hoped for something at least a little more formal to name his expression. Now didn't seem to be the time to think about such things though, should he enter a state of overthinking who knew what it'd do to his headache? Hoping that his relaxed body language would cover any suspicion that he was in pain (though a lashing tail certainly suggested that something was up), Ren carefully sat himself down on the borders, mouth dry. The feline didn't think he had it in him to call out for attention, and he was confidant that some patrol would come looking for stragglers on the borders soon enough. Giving a brief look at the fur sticking up all over the place along his spine, Ren ignored clearing his pelt of debris and leftover foliage for now, instead trying his hardest to focus on the hills out in front of him. Waiting like a statue was certainly making his eyes tired, his blinks were also growing rather sleepy in nature, and it was at that point that the feline realised how impatient he was getting watching nothing. Sheesh he needed something to do to get his mind off his cranium. Re: FILLING US WITH LIES | o, joining - GABRIEL - 09-23-2018 [div style="width: 500px; text-align: justify; font-size: 9.4pt; line-height: 1.4;"]"Hey, you good?" The hybrid spoke quietly, having noticed the smaller figure a ways back, and when he'd gotten closer, he had picked up on discomfort. Impatience, too, but waiting around when unwell was one of the fastest ways to getting irritated, so he wasn't going to get offended or hold it against him. Hell, Gabe had a headache just about constantly nowadays, ever since he got back to The Ascendants, and to say it set his temper on a hair-trigger was an understatement, so speaking at a lower volume was both for the feline's sake and his own head. "This is The Ascendants. You got something you need here, or do you make a habit of waiting in random places?" Gabe definitely did not blame him for looking bored as shit. Wasn't like the territory was much to look at, what with all the grass and the grass. No, he would never not mention all the grass. "Is it your head bothering you?" The appearance of an owl-cat hybrid caused Ren to jump slightly, and whilst the other's fairly enigmatic and ghostly look may've been the cause of concern within others, the bicoloured feline's alarm simply came from not being able to process that someone had been approaching him. The voice felt like a whisper tickling his ears, it would've been justified to think that he was just seeing things. His disorientation seemed to come in waves after all, each one leaving the loner wishing that he could curse it out. Gabriel seemed to be a permanent object at least, albeit one that was rather worse for wear. Sitting himself up straight following the twinge of embarrassment that came from being startled, Ren gave a brief nod in confirmation of being 'good', grinding his needle-like teeth together at the gesture. Now that that was out of the way, he could address the other questions coming their way, and understandably there were quite a few more than he was used to. That was what happened when you tried to be the strong, silent type, often others just left you to your own devices and pretended to be shook by the average looking feline stalking about. Ren wasn't sure which he preferred - letting others leave him to his own devices, or getting thrown into a spotlight for a little bit. He supposed it depended on the day, had any other event led him to the Ascendant's lands then the feline figured he would've relished in the interest. "It's just a habit. If I hadn't have waited, you may not have show up, it is beneficial,". Deadpan fabrications aside, there was business that the male had here. It was business more selfish than what he'd like, guilt nibbled at his toes at the mere thought of asking these strangers to care for him when they didn't know him, but he'd make it up to them. With no where else to go currently, Ren figured that offering his services as a group member certainly wouldn't harm, so long as he hadn't ended up joining a group of demons. Judging by this first one's reaction to him and immediate understanding to speak quietly, appearance be damned, the cat was in safe paws. Talks of his noggin came up again and grey eyes found themselves staring off in Gabe's general direction again, enveloped in silence for an uncomfortable amount of time. Should be he open, or keep the majority of his problems to himself? Hmm... he'd have to make a choice soon, else he'd just bore himself waiting to make up an answer. "Yes," he rumbled softly, choosing not to go into any details. They didn't need any, all they needed to know what that he needed to rest. "I'll be allowed respite if I join, correct? I want shelter before the foxes come out,". Minuscule smile offered as a predetermined thank you gesture for letting him stay (what monster would turn away a poor kitty cat down on their luck?), Ren waited in anticipation for the approval of his request. Re: FILLING US WITH LIES | o, joining - MOONMADE - 09-24-2018 "Foxes 'round here don't want nothing to do with us." Says Moon, approaching on massive, golden paws that drag through the dirt in their wake. The lion sports a small smile, purpled-bagged eyes friendly. "Only thing you gotta' worry about is the grumpy old men," a passing glance Gabriel's way. "Scariest thing we got." His smile breaks into the beginning of a grin, tentative like his banter. He knows Gabe is likely mad at him, and even though he didn't have a regret in sight for what went down at the border that day, what he did have was enough self awareness not to launch head first into their usual back-and-forward. Steady does it. Or some shit.
"Yes, you're allowed respite if you join," he says, frowning with humor at the choice of words. "Might wanna' visit the Cleric's Hide for a checkup while you're here." Re: FILLING US WITH LIES | o, joining - MirrorEdge - 09-24-2018
She probably shouldn't have been out in the rain, not with a broken paw and the cast around it slowly becoming soggy from the mud and rain. Imperia would probably not be pleased, though, Thea doubted that the pretty silver wolf would do more than scold her, and warn her to be more careful. She didn't seem the type to raise her voice over stuff such as that, or hitting an injured person. Yet despite this, Thea did have a small shred of respect, enough to listen to Imperia if she told her no fighting if it meant that her paw would heal properly.
The Fireball tilted her head, offering the soaking wet cat before her a cheerful smile. "I'm Thea! Pleased to meet you, mister!" It'd been quite awhile since she'd greeted a joiner, but still, the friendliness, even if it was a bit too much to be showing to every stranger that showed up asking to join the group, was still there. Not everyone was so well-adjusted to an owlcat, though remarkably, nobody who'd joined had done more than a little bit of staring. No screaming, fortunately. His talons always twitched whenever he and Laz would come across one of those, and with how things had been for him lately, he didn't want to test his temper when it seemed to be hanging by a thread. After what happened when Des crash-landed, all the freaky shit in his head, he was...tiptoeing, for lack of a better word. At least this guy wasn't jumping all over the place, or aggressively sarcastic, or aggressive in general- he was pretty mild-mannered, and Gabe appreciated that. A little formal, a little odd, but everyone had their quirks. "Trust me, someone always shows up no matter where you are or what you're doing. Not always a good thing." Like when Moon showed up to Gabe with his ass stuck in a log. Simpler times, those. He almost missed them. The feline just nodded when his assumption was proven. Good to know he wasn't far off the mark, generally speaking. He opened his beak to answer -no of course they wouldn't turn away the kitty- Moon approached, dwarfing the both of them even though he was a scrawny fucker. "Watch it, or I'll beat you with my hip implants," he warned, though it was of course in good humor. Yeah, the situation was fucked when Des came, but Moon at least had a reason. The Typhoon hadn't done him any favors using him like they did. "I'm Gabe. The runt's Moon." "And I'm Bast," he provided, giving absolutely no warning of his sudden appearance on Moon's other side — the flicker into sight was either a result of teleportation or invisibility, but he offered no answers for guest or Clanmates alike. A burning sensation erupted briefly in his chest as he settled, and he silently muttered in Grimm's general direction, Yeah, yeah, I'll stop using them, fuck. Sure, the aftershocks of his body being forced to heal so drastically were not quite Grimm's fault, but he found that he didn't care. Everything, no matter how indirect, was always Grimm's fault in one way or another. It was only right that he should blame him for this, too.

Pale blue stare roving over this stranger boredly, he got the general impression that it was same old, same old. Greeting, stupid commentary from Moon, a brief tour offer, shitty introductions. He yawned, before adding, [b]"Well, I'm patrolling anyway, so if you'd rather check the damn territory out now you can come with me and I'll show you camp later. Otherwise, one of these idiots can take you back." BY THE GRACE OF THE FIRE AND THE FLAMES
