BLACKBIRD | weekly task, exploring the mines - FELIKS - 09-20-2018

[align=center][div style="text-align: justify; width: 60%; font-family: georgial; font-size: 11pt;"]Feliks could claim to be many things. A king, a badass, a scholar, a hero, but a canary felt like a bit of a stretch in comparison to that. Yet, here he was, accepting a weekly task that would have him venturing deep into the depths of the unknown to try and find treasure... his clanmates better have gasmasks because he wasn't gonna be the carbon detector of the group he had to look over! Minus that little worry of being a scapegoat due to his birdie genes, the gryphon thought that his weekly task this week would be decent. Certainly better than some silly old training session he tended to be partnered up with constantly, and much better than having to some high risk, low reward bullshit for the satisfaction of an acquaintance too big for their boots. At least this task, though daunting given the potential of cave-ins and claustrophobic conditions, showed some real promise of giving Feliks something good. Oh, and he supposed he could share it with the rest of the group too, if they'd earned it. A heavy miner's hat atop his cranium, flattening down the natural 'crown' of feathers that seemed to peak upwards, the hybrid trotted into camp with his giddy new look, no ego leaving his straightened figure despite the goofy set up.

"Alright crooks and hooks, we're goin' mining. Hard hats aren't provided, you want protection from whatever's down there then you can get it yourself. I'm a pirate, not a charity after all. We're gonna find some treasure, or booty in layman's terms. So if you have time to spare and wanna skip that pesky afternoon patrol you were assigned to, come on over! I'm leaving as soon as some of you folk are interested,". Much more comfortable with public speaking than he had been years ago, Feliks' voice was filled with that confidence that seemed almost like his signature trait at this point. Leading, patrolling, it was nothing new, only the destination had changed over these past five years. At times he wondered when the cycle would end, and he'd be truly free from repetition and pain, but for now nothing more could be said on that subject. They were thoughts best left for the night, with the sun casting it's weary glare over them at the moment, it would bring him nothing but apprehension to go down the shafts with an existential crisis at hand. "So who's with me?"

Mining? In Alexander's two hundred years, they had never considered that as an activity they would want to do. The vampire preferred easier, more luxurious things over dirty work. Maybe it was their subconscious effort to avoid vampiric stereotypes, like living in caves and sleeping upside down, or in a coffin. They had tried it once, with Rialto, but the blood that laid still in their veins had rushed to their head and made them dizzy.

They weren't too sure about exploring underground with a bunch of pirates, either - even now that they were technically one of them. But the afternoom sun was starting to burn through their fur, and going into a cave to find some cool rocks was starting to sound more fun.

Alexander approaches the griffin with a fanged smile, tail flicking in greeting. "A hard hat will ruin my hair anyways, so I suppose you're lucky I don't want one." The wolf says, settling down in the shade close by. "I'm Alexander, by the way. I don't think I've had the pleasure of meeting you." Their voice sounds slightly condescending, but it was nothing unusual. The mischievous grin they hold gives the impression that they're just messing around.
