LONELY HOURS - open; fire release - rhosmari - 09-05-2018

Making a home here didn't seem to be a problem. The temperature of the place was not harsh upon their thickly scaled bodies, especially with their inner fires keeping them warm. Sometimes he had an excess of fire that he needed to release from time to time and build up could be a bad thing within a dragon. It was a good thing that fire did not show in young ones till they were coming of age and he was hoping soon to teach his little ones the lessons on stoking their flames and keeping themselves healthy and strong. His strong body was now on top of the mountain that Snowbound was near and he was so still, wings outstretched as if he was simply a statue. But anyone would know that Valinor was nothing like that of a statue. His talons were dug deep into hard rock as he kept his balance and rose onto hind legs. Like a slow giant the beast rose up and his jaws parted, heated saliva slipping down from the corners of his scaled lips.

First there was only the presence of smoke, thick plumes of heated white smoke that lifted up from his mouth. Almost forming a cloud in the sky as it funneled up from the thick muscled throat of the dragon. Then as if a switch was turned on his throat extending down to his chest began to take on a white glow. Fire spewed forth from his throat and into the air like a jet. The intensity of it was sharp and the white flames seemed to shift color but only for a short moment as it was expelled into the atmosphere where it burst into a spectacle of light and vapor.

[div style="width: 360px; font-family: verdana; color: #fcb3b5; text-align: left; padding-top: 15px; padding-left: 10px"]LA VI EST DROLE!

fire was a beautiful and destructive force of nature. unmatchable and undaunted in it's destruction. it had the ability to bring civilizations crumbling to it's knees. held enough strength to rend life in two.

it was no surprise that nui had an obsession for things that could cause destruction. there was some inherit alluring savagery to it. that was perhaps why dragons intrigued her in the first place. they were figures of power and strength and destruction. and it was strange-- to feel such an ounce of respect, even hints of envy for these mere creatures. nui was built from gold. soft. malleable. made for destruction and made to fit into the role born for her. but with these creatures? there seemed to be no shortage of what they were capable of.

plumes of smoke drifting on the cold air and dissipating was quick to capture nui's attention. long ears perked, a cranium tilted inquisitively as the polarheart's paws floundered soundlessly against snow. in her feline form she had long ago had grown accustomed to plodding silently in thick, powdery alabaster, and had grown used to it's frigid air.

this current body was just as silent, if not more than her former vessel, though the harsh fingers of cold was she'd have to grow to relearn. she was no less grateful for it. anything for the fleeting touch of sensation was too good for her. she had spent so long not feeling the agony that bonded creatures and chasing after after it that snowbound's territory was the closest thing she had gotten to discomfort. to feel it's discomfort before slowly settling into the familiarity of temperature with ease was a blessing.

a coral nose shivered, head tilted back to observe the view of flames wreathing into the air. dancing on wind.
"the flames are lovely," she'd call up. sure to keep her distance; not out of fear, no. she had fantasized many times about submerging herself within the indomitable heat to see if she'd actually get to know the wonder and terror of pain. she abstained for now. "is it white because it's so hot?" she could feel the warmth from here. she was far enough away from it to feel even pleasant, and her body responded in kind. flexing and stretching comfortably at the contrast from cold to lukewarm. wondered how high his temperature would rise if she got closer to him, and if he wouldn't mind her snuggling next to him for it. hmm... warm, enveloping heat. made her sleepy just thinking about it.

- Fire was one of the few things Delphinium had a fear of. Or, rather, the kitsune knew definitely that she had a fear of - realistically speaking, there were many minor things that overwhelmed the girl easily. But fire ignited fear in her heart, in the ways she had seen it used. Fire was never good. Fire only ever harmed, and only when it was safely contained in a ring of stones and simmering at a low burn was she content. The way flesh bubbled from the briefest of contacts was seared into her mind's eye, an ironic phrase that serviced itself. It consumed life, plant and animal alike, effortlessly and had no qualms harming even its handler. To say fire could even be handled. Unlike Nui it was not the billowing smoke that had drawn the girl further up the mountain, but rather the crackling of fire as it was released from Valinor's parted jaws. Without anything to consume its life was brief, but still violent, intense, screaming.

Evergreen eyes flicked between Nui and Valinor as the rabbit inquired about his fire. "Lovely" was not the word she had in mind for such a display, but Delphinium kept her thoughts to herself as she came to a stop a handful of paces behind the duo. She did not find comfort in the heat of an untamed fire. "Why did you do that?" Delphinium inquired, gaze shifting to fix solely on Valinor. Despite her hesitations her question held no malice, a product of genuine curiosity - otherwise the kitsune would have departed from the scene before she even arrived to it. But to spew fire so needlessly, surely it had to be connected to his species.

Re: LONELY HOURS - open; fire release - guts - 09-08-2018

Haishe herself couldn't do the same as Val or his sons. Breathing fire was not one of her traits, though the fact she could fly without any wings to help her do so was enough for her. She didn't need any flashy abilities; her teeth and large talons were enough for her. She didn't want to be seen as some tool of destruction, she just wanted to live peacefully. But of course many others didn't see things that way. They were cruel, doing things regardless of the feelings of others. She had no remorse for getting rid of such pests.

This was not the first time she had seen another dragon do this, as her mate had the same ability as Valinor. They were brothers, after all. She remembered being somewhat caught off guard the first time he did it, but she quickly got used to it, amused by how their children would look on in wonder--like Tama was now. She simply watched with a small curve to her lips, eyes following the bright flames as they trailed up towards the sky.

"Ni kun fin hofkah nau yol," she teased the larger dragon as she approached. That had been her concerns sometimes, that the flames would light trees or some other shrubbery on fire and they would never be able to put it out as it ravaged the land. At least it would get rid of all the snow.

Ni kun fin hofkah nau yol - don't light the houses on fire

♡ — DON'T YOU DARE FORGET THE SUN, LOVE.
Fire. Something hot, and made buildings smell like burnt coffee. She didn't know what it looked like, thanks to being blind, but she knew that it was dangerous.

So when she heard her tribemates talking about Valinor breathing fire, Yuuri hesitated a bit. Should she go over? Surely this would be okay? He could control it, couldn't he? So, she did. She walked over, side brushing against Tamaghna's own scaled side as blind green eyes searched for the source of the burning heat. "What's going on?" She asked softly, floppy ears twitching.
