singing in the rain ✨ ja'sunna - Mama - 08-23-2018 [align=center][div style="width:400px; font-size:8.4pt;line-height:1.1;color:#000;font-family:arial;margin-top:3px;margin-bottom:3px;letter-spacing:0px;margin-left:0px;text-align:justify;"]Ayu had known nothing positive would come from this, spur of the moment decisions breaking apart for time restrains and other problems arising from the sudden break of routine, yet something she could only deem hope had left her wanting to try. To call such an excursion spur of the moment seemed a rather large understatement for it had been not five minutes since the message had come through that she had left, nervous energy leaving her jittery, excitement barely tempered by worry. It had been ten long years since she had last seen her twin, had been able to embrace him as once they had as children, the only good things they had in a childhood rife with hardship, missing the gentle teases they had once shared as though it were a lifeline. In some cases it seemed almost to be, each taking it in turns to offer a benign comment meant to elicit laughter, enjoying those few stolen moments. Gentle was the curl of a smile about her lips as memories rose, one after the other, each scene playing out in her mind, some bringing with it laughter. So much had transpired within the years, each going their separate ways and Ayu had become a different person entirely, taking a chance and allowing herself the opportunity to become who she had always felt she was. The road had been a lengthy one, paved with hardships she had never quite expected, but the end result had left her overjoyed, happy for once in the skin she had been given. This was one of the last steps on her journey, allowing her to close this chapter of her life and go about the next, genuinely happy for once. And yet it seemed the universe had other plans for her. The first raindrop was a surprise, the sudden dampness upon her shoulder drawing her attention up. Quickly the sky had filled with clouds toned in shades of smoke and ash, the distance rumble of thunder splitting the air before it began to fall once more, at first slow, enough for Ayu to once more begin moving. Too quickly did the rain begin to pick up its own pace and it seemed as though the sky opened to shed its load, driving her to duck beneath an awning shading a small outside area of a cafe. “Damn it,” muttered beneath the breath she looked out upon a street grown wet as the rain fell, a sheet of water beginning to form as it rolled off the awning, making the world beyond blur, colours and shapes given no real definition. For a short time Ayu wondered if it might be possible to keep going, rain be damned, but quickly the thought passed. She wasn't dressed for such weather, the day had been relatively nice before and so she had chosen jeans and a simple shirt rather than anything heavy, the light jacket barely offering any protection against the chill the rain brought with it. For now her only option seemed to wait it out, something she had hoped to avoid for she was running late already, a hand raising to rub at her temple. |
