you're so stylish | ilijas - Beverly Resurgam. - 08-22-2018 [align=center][div style="width: 500px; text-align: justify; font-family: verdana; font-size: 13px;"]She wasn't settled. By no means. They were settled into the house, the minimal boxes unpacked and everything else they needed had been purchased. She and her mother's little house had, after months, become a home. It was a big adjustment, but it was one that she had made once before. She could only hope that they would stay in LA, or at the very least, in America. She was tired of moving. She wanted to stay somewhere more permanent. The rest of her life was a different story. Beverly was by no means a shy person, and she had found friends rather quickly. They were all kind and had welcomed her in with open arms, but she was still very much the new kid. Maybe not to anyone else, but in her own eyes. Everything about her life now was, yet again, entirely new and unexplored and it was daunting. "You look beautiful," her mother spoke from the couch, some news broadcast displayed on the television. Looking up from her phone, she smiled. "Thank you," was her simple answer, nervously tucking a piece of bleached hair behind her ear. She wasn't sure what to expect from a high school party. But it was important to get out there, keep adjusting herself, and that was the whole reason she agreed to go. Taking a seat on the stairs, Beverly waited for that "I'm here" text. Ilijas had been attending the same schools with the same people his entire life. Growing up in foster care had been difficult, especially given how late he and his sister had remained in the service, unable to be split apart even as they became more mature and discussed in hushed voices behind closed doors that maybe... maybe saying goodbye for right now was the only option. School had become sort of a consistency to him because of that, a promise of never-changing friends, a place where he was just a teenage boy with the camera he had spent all his money on. When they had finally been adopted into a real home with real parents that genuinely cared for them, he had worried greatly about where he'd live and more so, where'd they go to school. He was happy to report that he was still very much attending that high school, a senior now and the president of the photography club. There was a party tonight, one that had been the talk of everyone for quite sometime. Ilijas wasn't really into parties, not particularly a fan of the huddled masses of bodies or even the booming music and over excessive quantities of alcohol. But there was a new girl at school, one who had caught his eye the moment she had stepped foot on campus- intriguing and kind and just somebody he wanted to meet. To get to know. As luck would have it, he was the one picking her up tonight. But Ilijas didn't text her as he pulled into her driveway, instead studying her home for a few moments before jumping out of his card to ring the doorbell. Text messaging was so impersonal these days, he'd much rather physically retrieve her and say hello to her mother or something. It was a little awkward, standing on her door and all, a hand raised and hovering over the wood as he contemplated knocking to further sound his presence. Eh, what harm would that do anyways? Knocking out a little tune could provide both of them some easy entertainment- now he just needed to see if she appreciated the gesture. cause god, i never felt young

It always took her some time to make friends when she came to a new school, a new country even, and she appreciated the kindness everyone in his group offered her. As great as that was, it was equally as unfortunate that his twin sister hated her guts. She had made an honest mistake, but Talanah didn't seem to be terribly forgiving. A knock on the door broke her from her thoughts. Rising to her feet, Beverly pulled the front door open and sighed softly. "Hey," she said, calling a goodbye to her mother before stepping outside, shoving her hands into her jacket pockets. "You ready to head out?" Her first high school party. Ilijas couldn't help but grin as Beverly opened the door, hardly unable to contain himself over the fact that he had somehow persuaded her into coming with him. Parties weren't really a big deal to him anymore, not when one was haphazardly thrown every weekend and he attended them all. Admittedly, they had lost their grandeur ages ago but he still continued to frequent them, relishing in the rare moments he spent behaving like a normal teenager who didn't spend his 'Sunday recovery' in the mountains about an hour and a half away from his home. But standing her with the knowledge that he was bringing Bev with him... It all at once felt as if he was preparing to attend his first party all over again. [color=#454843]"Hell yeah," Came his nonchalant response, a bit forced as he tried to emulate a 'cool guy' attitude, that smile never once wavering, [color=#454843]"We've got a fifteen minute drive ahead of us and, lucky for you, I have the perfect playlist prepared for this evening." Did he say perfect playlist? Yeah, well, he just meant Mumford and Sons and Of Mice and Men... It was all he really listened to and was, in his mind, perfect.
