It was most likely cold here, although he was unable to tell; his condition ― congenital analgesia  ― made it hard to feel even those sensations, even if they did not bring him pain. The sensation and the affect it had on him was scarcely neglected. The heat of the desert made him feel uncomfortable, even if...

it made no matter to dwell on it. For some, it was a curse. For him, it made him better. Stronger. To go on without being brought down by petty injuries was a gift.

He wanted to know more about the creatures that had once dwelled underneath these ancient structures. What had they looked like originally? How did they adapt so quickly?

Questions went hand-in-hand with answers that he was hellbent on getting, even if it costed him a limb, or a life. Once he reached the collection of cooling vessels, Esklav gently collected one and placed it in the bag slung over his shoulder. He did hope that it did open. That would be very, very bad.

I ADMIRE IT'S PURITY
Crawling along the ceiling above Pale-mother was Blacktide, the still growing juvenile had dutifully followed after him into his once-home and place of gorey birth - he'd followed pale-mother down as he'd collected samples although to the creature he wasn't aware of 'samples' all he knew was mother was going to bring more hivemates - hivemates like him! which meant a better hive! a stronger hive!

a pleased deep throated thrum of a purr followed Blacktide as he traced after the steps of Pale-mother, being sure to be alert and watchful for any of the other strange-hive for mother must be informed if they were to infringe!

eventually Blacktide dropped down from the ceiling, arching up in a stretch not unlike a cat - even as monstrous yet deadly beautiful the juvenile creature was.
