oh how the heart sings ✨ hunting - Deval - 08-20-2018 [align=center][div style="width:400px; font-size:8.4pt;line-height:1.1;color:#000;font-family:arial;margin-top:3px;margin-bottom:3px;letter-spacing:0px;margin-left:0px;text-align:justify;"]A howl. Through the wind does the sound cut, echoing and melancholy though there is a tone there, one which speaks of excitement. It is no song of grief, it is the call of the hunt. Lips peel back from teeth and all at once stark body is moving, pace quick as paws tear at the spongy texture of the dampened soil, huffed breath escaping parted jaws. Before him is little more than a smear of brown, an elk driven into a frenzy of fear, kicking out as he gets to close, trying so desperately to escape the creature which runs behind it. Yet there is no hope now for on the pair move, circling around the territory and moving closer to the mansion, the snap of teeth terrifying to the startled doe, pulling away from the canine. From the depths of his throat laughter seems to raise, heart beating a tattoo upon his ribs, body stretching out to make each stride before it is drawn back together, springing forward with little effort. He lived for this, the feeling of wind coursing through his fur, the stench of fear heavy in his nostrils as he leans forward and snaps at his prey, feeling the heat of it, startled into moving faster. Sooner or later it would falter, twist a leg in an attempt to pull away once more, all he had to do was wait and enjoy the run, wondering only briefly if his call would be heeded, if others might join in the fun. Re: oh how the heart sings ✨ hunting - Jiyu Simul Stamus - 08-20-2018 Communicating with others? Was not one of her strong suits, if she needed to always be in touch then she couldn't do her job well as she could when she just let them live their lives without her. Daft as she was in verbal communication with other's, the calico knew what that sound was the second she heard it, a call to hunt, something she was very good at. Most of her first bonding experiences with others that led to the dangerous connections that could interfere with her work? Happened during something like hunting or such, an activity where she could for even brief moments live with them, walk alongside animals she could barely understand and whom she knew would never fully accept what she was. Brief moments, with wind against them and an acceptable, shared kill ahead, she could pretend for those fleeting instances, Jiyu could pretend she was no different than them, that the torment that turned her into the monster she was, never happened. Hunting was exhilarating, even if nothing of her expression or toned efficiency ever changed during it, she felt as if she was living with them whenever she joined hunts for a large game whenever one happened. In the rush of the hunt, Deval would be able to hear another cry, one much more feline but muted compared to most, frozen over and rough as if it was difficult to produce. Someone else was joining in his hunt. Entering into hunts with other roses? Was one of the few group activities she took part in without prodding from others. As the doe ran towards another wooded area near where Deval was hunting, she made her move, springing forward with snapping jaws, causing the animal to turn and ran in a straight line the other way. Mismatched optics glanced at the canine briefly before the two-foot-tall feline took off after the deer, trotting until she used another burst of speed and snap to send it back towards the other rose. She didn't need to talk, she just needed to know how to hunt, and that she knew better than she could ever express. What it was and what it could do. It could be for sport or it could be used for a challenge and either way she was respectful with regards to it for if not then the Hunt could surely turn nasty in a matter of seconds. She remembered when one of her last Hunts was very much unsuccessful and left a rather bitter taste in her mouth. It hadn't been the best of her times but she had learned from it and shifted her strategy accordingly and now there seemed to be a Hunt rising up once again. Her eyes were open and looking up at the sky when she heard the sound of a howl, one that wasn't familiar but caused and excitement to rise up within her. Flicking her tail slowly back and forth the woman would wait a moment, closing her eyes and just listening to the sounds around her. Her form became still as she picked up the sound of something. Thrashing and moving paws that thudded against the ground and moving closer and closer to the mansion. For a moment she didn't move and then her gaze snapped open just as she got a view of the elk female that was desperately trying to get away from Deval. It was not in her nature to butt into someone else's Hunt. It gave them the experience that they needed to take down something stronger and perhaps even more powerful than them. To prove their worth and so she didn't move at all and instead waited to see how this would turn out. After all there was no need when it seemed Jiyu had answered the call and slipped her own turn into the fray. Would the redirection work and Deval be able to make the killing blow? Or would the female prey be smarter than that and run over the much smaller predator or even leap over the creature all together. There were many different ways this could go but the woman hoped for a successful Hunt for Deval. After all he was young and this would serve to give him a boost about where he lived and how he interacted with others. Her gaze became lazy as she curled her paws underneath her body, careful of the large and thick claws she wore as her weapons as she debated over the proceedings. the call for a hunt was not foreign to the young manticore even before their premature death, living in the clan life where they survived off the teamwork of hunting in packs and gathering sources. hunter gatherers working together to provide for their families and friends. peytri had lifted their head at deval's howl, and almost immediately began to head in the canines way.
their nose twitched as they scented for the male, rose hued gaze darting from one direction to the other. underneath the scent of deval was the elk he was chasing, and it sent his heart racing. suddenly the brush began to rustle, and they watched as jiyu and the doe bolted a few feet away next to them. the manticore's scorpion tail curled over their head and they took off to set a pace going a few meters ahead of jiyu and the doe, directing her to turn more toward deval. space
