The weekly task he had been handed was, in all honesty, one of the lightest ones he could have received. He had been expecting something worse, like trying to converse with someone in the clan, teaching some sort of obscure class, or just in general anything that happened to pertain to socialization with a group bigger than himself. He had been hoping to avoid the conversation aspect completely, to get something like 'build a damn wall just to show you can,' but... in hindsight that was asking for too much. At least this was bearable, although he figured past-him would have reveled in whatever kind of social activity was handed to him and took it in stride with a grin on his face.

There was no grin on his face this time around, although he seemed less exhausted than he had been following his death. There were no cigarettes around him, no alcohol in his near vicinity, and he didn't smell like anything but the usual smoke that clung to his pelt to remind everyone of his preferred vice. No, he seemed relatively fine, if only because the task he had been given was something he did quite enjoy. Jewelry was his specialty; a bunch of it adorned his body, both silver and gold and otherwise, and he liked to think he knew what matched someone's features. Gabe, although stranger than most he had met in terms of appearance, would be nothing more than a walk in the park... and he hoped the guy would humor him, for he wasn't feeling up to talking with anyone else and that made his weekly task infinitely harder.

Someone else, and he couldn't promise his paws wouldn't be around their throat for reasons other than putting some sort of necklace on.

Plus, he had already meticulously hand picked and made a bunch of things that would only really look good on Gabriel, and he didn't quite feel like having all that time and effort go to waste.

A low sigh escaped his jaws, his lungs begging for a cigarette between his jaws, but he staved off of the idea to instead continue his search for the hybrid, finding it near impossible even though he seemed to be around most of the time. It was probably that whole 'easy to find if he wants to find you' thing that he hadn't yet managed to compare to Gabriel's personality, but he found it didn't surprise him too much. It irritated him, if only because it made his life harder, and because he was already more volatile than usual as is. "Where's the old man when you need him?" he grumbled, black gaze seeking the hybrid out to no avail... and after a second he hoped simply summoning him would work better. "Gabriel?"

Gabe wasn't one for the weekly tasks the clans seemed so fond of passing around like clockwork candy. From what he'd seen of them, most tended to be fairly menial, intended primarily to strengthen a community; it was admirable they worked on that, but he wasn't cut out for holding little get togethers, coming up with games, making gifts- he didn't have hobbies unless knowing things counted, because he'd devoted so much of his life to a singular purpose with no room for anything else. He was trying to fix that now, to slow down and actually live while he had the time, but maybe he wasn't too interested in everything that included. Like the weekly tasks. Maybe he should start. He didn't have much else to do beyond poking his head into matters that didn't really concern him, so as fun as that was, he could expand his horizons even just a little bit.

Jewelry making fell in with the group of activities Gabe hadn't ever given more than a passing thought to, and personally, he'd never worn it. Not because it wasn't pretty, but it was a bit difficult to blend in when there were noticeable piercings -even just the holes- or bracelets. Now that he stuck out like a sore thumb, he supposed it didn't matter what he wore anymore, although a bag over his head might be preferable.

None of that was on his mind at the moment, as he was currently wandering the place searching for anything that could catch his eye, while simultaneously hoping he might find Des. Since his return, he'd seemed off, and Gabriel wasn't so certain it could be worked through in the span of a few weeks. He didn't plan on asking him outright, though. He wasn't blind- he'd seen how the wolf tensed when he first arrived, and how some of it bled away when Gabe made a stupid comment instead of asking a more somber question. Not to mention asking someone how they felt was rarely a surefire way of obtaining truth. People lied, especially about things that mattered the most.

He was fully prepared to attempt some of that light poking as soon as he caught sight of Des, although it soon became apparent that the canine was actually looking for him, too. Speak of the devil, and all that. Only time would tell to whom that referred. For now, the hybrid grinned with his eyes, head slightly cocked. "Sorry, got caught up. Someone else needed a Gabriel, but she was just praying." He drew closer, curiosity growing as he did. "Need a jar opened?"
