She did loathe meet and greets, but they were usually quite important. Sociable had never been a word that strongly applied to Annie, like the words ladylike and well-mannered. It was something that she'd never learned to do really, small talk and making good impressions. Besdies, the impression of a foul-mouthed mercenary was the only impression she needed to leave - she was good at her job and she didn't take your shit. Times had changed a lot since then but networking? Still of her weak points.

The solution happened to be a deck cards, absentmindedly shuffling through the cards whilst she hummed to herself. If no one wanted to play a round of blackjack, she'd probably conclude that she was in the wrong place for her and leave, as one tended to do when they realised that they were the odd one out. Perhaps she'd end up teaching it, but she has a well-crafted knife thrown into the centre as her bet.

Gambling's no fun if you've got nothing to lose.

"Hey, playing blackjack if anyone wants to, buy in's whatever you feel like betting and we can chit chat during."

MARGAERY MIKAELSON-FOLIE
Margaery had never seen herself as the type to gamble, not when there was often too much at stake all balanced on the delicate (yet precarious) shoulders of fate and luck. She was of the firm belief that she elected what happened to her, rewriting her own destiny with her own hands and ripping apart the predetermined one that had once stood in its place. Gambling stripped her of that ability, it left her vulnerable and hoping that she didn't lose whatever she had been stupid enough to offer. It was a shame that, as she approached, Genevieve decided to push her influence a bit and halfway take control, gray eyes flickering red.

[color=#b59693]"I'll play, sugar," The vampiress extended casually, shoulders rising and falling in a casual shrug. She had nothing on her person worth adding to Anima's knife but made a note to return home should the other female demand a contribution. [color=#b59693]"My name is Genevieve but she doesn't like when I introduce myself, call me Margaery." Her introduction was rather reluctant in nature, a frown curving her darkened lips as Margaery struggled against her far more dominant self. She'd let her return sooner than later, but not before this game had concluded- Margaery couldn't tell card games apart to save her life.

ONISION M.F.
[div style="background-color:#806A71;width:90%; overflow: stretch;text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt;"]Onision wasn't one to understand multiple personalities, or anything along the likes of that. Mental illnesses didn't make sense to him, especially since he was so damn stubborn about staying strong, about being healthy. But he didn't notice the change in his mother, didn't come to the table soon enough to hear her speak the odd introduction.

Instead, he had sat down a distance away, leaning on his only good front arm as he watched the game, silently. What was black jack? Like.. A gambling game? So you had to bet items? From the looks of the knife, it had to be a valuable. He'd read about it later, but for now he was just going to watch.

Re: call all their bluffs / open - MOONMADE - 08-19-2018

[size=9pt]He'd never played Blackjack before. He'd never played any card game. Given the fact that he was a lion who grew up partially in the feral plains of Africa and partially in the rusting cages of hunters, this shouldn't be a surprise. But, then again, Anima was a panther, and she seemed to have her head around the stuff. Maybe he was just dumb. It's likely.

Regardless, he was about to be educated. Or, at least, he hoped. Anima seemed like she might just throw him one cynical look and continue on with the game with those who had some culture. He's chance it, anyway. "How'd you play?"

( note : randomly drawing cards using this generator & anima will try to cheat )

Oh, she's a pretty one. She notes that Margaery one, is referring to herself as multiple people and two, does not add anything to the pot. Perhaps she has set the buy-in too high, but she can think of one thing that would be equal to knife in her own eyes. That being said, if the woman is either in a relationship or not into casual things, then her offer is probably not one that should be placed on the table. "Noted, although I'm afraid you'll need to buy in before you get your chips. Anima by the way, just Annie." She doesn't want to dwell on multiple personalities, although she suspects it's more to do with fractured souls due to bad experiences with that herself. It's not a topic of a pleasant conversation though.

"Not playing kid?" She shoots towards Onision, tilting her head. What was the point in watching? Looks for someone's tells? That seemed pointless to her, she'd been a card shark before and she is definitely planning to cheat in this game too. Her knife is expensive, and it is... Not precious to her, because who bets what they aren't willing to lose but a fool? But that being said, she does like it, she just needs something to entice them to bet in the first place.

"Can you count? I'm gonna assume you and I'm gonna deal you a practice hand to show you. And then if you feel like playing, you can buy in." She is willing to explain funnily enough because new players are the easiest to cheat because they're not looking for cheaters. Or maybe she seems like the kind of person that would cheat. That's entirely possible.

"Goal of the game, make your hand equal 21. If you go over 21, you're bust." She shuffles quickly as she talks before casually flicking two cards face up towards Moon with a smirk. 5 of clubs and 3 of diamonds. "So, there you have an 8. If you'd want another card, you'd say twist." She then throws out another card, 4 of hearts. "And there's your total up to 12. At this point, you could twist again, or you could stick and stay with the 12. But 12 is boring and low and you'd likely lose to a stronger hand, so we'll twist again shall we?" There's no choice as the next card she throws out is a Jack, and she declares bust with a satisfied smirk.

"And since face cards are 10, you're bust. Special rules - Ace can be 1 or 11, but you have to decide when you get the ace. If you start the turn with ace and a face card, shout Blackjack and you win the pot. Initial pair is dealt face down, don't show em, subsequent cards are dealt face up. Still feel like playing?"

BASTILLEPRISONER AURELIUS
[b]BY THE GRACE OF THE FIRE AND THE FLAMES
The mention of any card games called forth the phantom memories of too much alcohol and the press of warm bodies, which was... well, namely why Bastille didn't go out of his way to play too many card games. For one thing, they were rarely as fun without the drinking, as much as he hated to admit it; for another, he didn't like to dwell too much in Zaniel's-- well, his memories. He was supposed to be social and engaging if he expected his high positions to be, however, and thus here he was. Doing his due diligence and mingling with his people. Whatever.

His gaze locked on Oni as he approached, and he hadn't missed the way his Fireball had grown vaguely more irritable since his accident. Bastille felt for the kid -- feeling out of control of yourself was something he was familiar with -- and he really should go talk to him. He made a note of it for their first training session, and settled beside the Fireball with a light nudge of his shoulder as he greeted, [b]"I'll play."

The nudge from his mentor urged him out of his daydream as he heard Anima's offer to let him play. Onision shook his head, waving the idea away with a paw before he spoke, tone bored. "No, I'm fine. You have fun betting your valuables." He mumbled, blue eyes casting their gaze on the larger feline whom had nudged him before. It was true, after his accident, he had grown more and more prone to fits, and even then he had to keep calm, knowing that if he snapped, he'd shift again and hurt someone. He couldn't afford that.
