I CRY BABEL, BABEL, LOOK AT ME NOW | open, meet & greet - Ilijas - 08-13-2018 ilijas arthur valentine

In typical Ilijas fashion, he had joined this place only to promptly disappear. The call of the wild was one that he could not so easily ignore and, tempted by the beauty of the wilderness that spread in every direction around him, he stole away the night he joined to merely survive on his own for a few days. It had not been his intention for those days to turn into a week and a half however, and as he made his way into town, he only hoped that he wouldn't be perceived as some classless trespasser. As undeniably reckless and sometimes impolite that he could be, he at least possessed some manners. Regardless, it was a good thing that he had already been granted sanctuary in Sunhaven. Exhaling a deep breath, the gray bengal would take a seat, sliding his satchel off of his neck to look about him. [color=gray]"Hey," He called easily, mentally recoiling. If there was one thing that Ilijas hated, it was smalltalk. [color=gray]"My name is Ilijas Mik-" He paused, looking particularly confused. Who was he about to introduce himself as? Weird. Really weird. [color=gray]"Ilijas Valentine. I joined about a week or so ago and then realized that I needed to have a photoshoot in the middle of nowhere so yeah, that's where we're at now. Nice to meet you all, I guess." God, he wished Tally was here... or even Beverly. His twin sister - as wild and sometimes troublesome as she was - was still his twin but she had been... compromised months ago. Bev was another story, his strange and innate attachment to her about as unexplained as his slip in introduction. If only he could steal her away from the Ascendants though, he'd instantly be happier here with her at his side. (i don't think i clarified in his joining thread but his name is pronounced e-lee-uh) cause god, i never felt young

The blind tabby hears the call from the boat in which he makes his flower shop just beside his floating home — he's been tending to the plants and fruits, making sure everything is watered and fresh and stored away properly in his absence. His ears lift at the greeting, called out to no one in particular, and the ginger-furred feline pushes the crate he'd been digging through back underneath the table and exits the tiny ship. With white-tipped paws planted firmly on the wooden boardwalk he follows the voice to its source; something in the back of his head tells him that it's familiar (it should be, anyways) and yet it doesn't click until he nears and finally hears the name that matches. The memory is fuzzy and it blends together with so many other of the joiners he's greeted recently, but it's there nevertheless.
The tom pads closer and then halts to seat himself as well, settling himself with his tail curled over his paws and an awkward shifting of his weight. His honey gaze blindly passes over the other feline, though it tries to focus its warmth in the general direction in which Jericho senses Ilijas. "I-I — I think I was there when you joined, but, um, it's Jericho, in case you've forgotten," the tabby introduces with a courteous (yet shy) smile. He wouldn't be entirely surprised, after all, given that it's been a week or so and Jericho himself often struggles to keep all the names and scents and voices that surround him straight — and he's the leader. The bit that catches the small Helion's attention is the other's reason for leaving... a photoshoot, supposedly. Jericho has never had any interest in photography but, then again, he figures his blindness may have something to do with it. "You... ah, take pictures?" There's a hint of curiosity behind the inquiry, but it's restrained and gentle in a more polite manner as he blinks unseeingly towards the other male. Re: I CRY BABEL, BABEL, LOOK AT ME NOW | open, meet & greet - Mama - 08-14-2018 [align=center][div style="width:400px; font-size:8pt;line-height:1.1;color:#000;font-family:arial;margin-top:3px;margin-bottom:3px;letter-spacing:0px;margin-left:0px;text-align:justify;"]It seemed she had been skirting her duties. Though it had been only few days Ishayu had made a point to take her position rather seriously, taking a good chunk of her day and leaving it aside to wander the boarders in case a joiner had been present, seeking to be sure they were properly welcomed and knew where they were going. Yet such was also taking a toll upon her for it pushed her beyond the boundaries she was forced to place, once more having to grow accustomed to walking without a fourth limb for this body was different than her previous by a great deal, smaller and more agile it proved somewhat of a hassle to move about. Within her home it is during one of her quiet moments that the voice reaches her, attention drawn away from the book she had been reading, the name unfamiliar to her. For a time she wondered briefly if she might simply leave it be, allow another to speak with this stranger before she uttered a sigh, closing the book with a snap. There would be time enough later. Though once nothing more than a temporary stop off she was something more now, a Hearthkeeper, though it seemed a meaningless title to her, one which held no sway but she allowed herself to slip further into this gentle, slow life. Raising the serval jumped from her chair and moved onto the boardwalks, giving one last glance over her shoulder to the arm chair she had set upon her covered porch. Approaching the pair the faint ghost of a smile curls about pale lips as Ishayu passes her gaze over both, what seems a touch of fondness briefly flickering across her features as she looks upon Jericho, though it holds nothing once she turns her attention to Ilijas. Though indeed Ishayu had grown fond of the Helion, he had done much and expected so little in return, a kind soul as she had never met before, this man was offered no kindness for he was an unknown, the maroon eyes narrowed as she wondered why he hesitated to give him name. A slip of the tongue maybe but it was strange to begin one only to give another, his confusion enough to withhold the question for the moment. “Greetings, I don't believe we have met, I am Ishayu,” she spoke with a light tone, thinking better of speaking her position as some she had come across had. If this Ilijas cared to know he was free to ask but she took little pride in flaunting what Jericho had been kind enough to give her. Re: I CRY BABEL, BABEL, LOOK AT ME NOW | open, meet & greet - rhosmari - 08-14-2018 MONROE MALE — SUNHAVEN — SUNBEARER — HARD Something was straining him lately and there was no real reason or cause as to why. Perhaps not to some outsider but it was well hidden and typically it would stay that way. After all the mutant was good at hiding his emotions behind a good smile and a jovial personality. Though lately he was staying inside more and keeping to himself, eyes half closed as he listened to the world around him. Waves that gently lapped at the sides of the boardwalk and his home to the flapping sounds of fish that had gotten caught in his net that he had not even tried to get to reeling in. One paw stretched out and he gently cupped the small container of salve, eyes shifting over it before he dropped it and watched it roll across the floor. This sucked but he also knew he had to go and at least make an appearance. So he pushed himself up to this paws, struggling to even want to make himself leave his room. But he did and he walked down the stairs before exiting the home that was the farthest out in the ocean. The breeze blew across his skin before he wiggled and allowed a soft yawn to leave him. His jaws snapped shut and he turned his head to the side as he picked up sounds in the air. Voices. Ears pulling forward a bit he turned fully to walk along the boardwalk and to see who it was that was speaking. At first he saw nothing for along while but then after a moment more of walking he came upon the scene of Mama and Jericho talking to someone he didn't know. A grey bengal and he tilted his head a little bit, gills undulating a bit in his curiosity. There had been a lot of new members joining and the guardian of the dawn was rather interested in the new faces. He knew better than to be absent for too long and he struggled to get himself going a lot these days. Walking over the shark creature would attempt a small smile, gaze shifting on the camera as he settled down to curl his fin around his own body. "Well, I don't think I've met ya just yet. So good on ya for our first meetin'. Name's Monroe and it's nice tae meet ya." Re: I CRY BABEL, BABEL, LOOK AT ME NOW | open, meet & greet - GORDON CIPHER. - 08-15-2018 Having just joined, it was no surprise that Gordon knew nobody here, save for Stellamoris, Pierce, and Bucky, whom had all been there when she joined. That being said, Ilijas's call for a meet-and-greet startled her a bit, despite having lived in a clan before and being used to these things. The guy's voice just surprised her was all, and Gordon slowly and carefully made her way over. These things usually drew a large crowd, but luckily there wasn't a whole lot of people. Still people here, but not a whole lot to the point where she wanted to run off and hide.
"Um... hi." Gordon squeaked out as she neared, briefly glancing at all the Sunhaven members that had already gathered. She took note of all of their names - Ilijas, the one holding this meet-and-greet; Jericho, a tabby; and Monroe, a grey bengal. All three of them were slightly bigger than her, though that was only because of the Munchkin blood in her. "My-my name's Gordon Cipher," Ilijas said his last name, so why shouldn't she? Wait... hadn't Ilijas joined The Ascendants for a bit, or was she crazy? Oh well, even if he did, Gordon didn't recall ever formally meeting him. ★ i am a lion born from things you cannot be ! ━

Ilijas regarded the four that had joined him with something akin to a casual smile, his hatred for chitchat and smalltalk temporarily forgotten in favor of the promise of new companions. His mothers and Beverly were his only living friends at this point, though his relationship - friendship - with the latter was still very much in its developing days. His innate desire to wander often and to wander far left him with little to no desire to truly establish himself amidst others and thus, he understood wholeheartedly that his lack of friends stemmed entirely from himself. He was alone but alas, he was not lonely - there was a certain comfort that he found within the wilderness, its sprawling trees and snow-capped mountains all he truly needed to be at peace. But he was happy to be here, resting tired paws near a beach that presented him with a rather new and interesting muse. Forests and mountains were a softer type of medium for him, the hazy greens and grays providing him with more relaxation than anything else. The bright azure colored ocean in combination with the white sand was so starkly different than what he was used to and he had made several mental notes to bring his camera down there for some lovely shots the moment he had an opportunity. For now, he had a different sort of responsibility- one that included greeting the members of Sunhaven that had approached him with something more than a silly little smile. [color=gray]"Hey! Yeah I remember you- I have a great memory," Ilijas extended easily in Jericho's direction, [color=gray]"And yessiree. I'm a traveling photographer and I love it. If any of you ever need any pictures taken, just ask me! I'm always itching for clients." His gaze would pass from Jericho to Ishayu, faint curiosity dancing within his dark eyes. She didn't seem to regard him with any negative emotion in particular, but there certainly wasn't that same warmth that Jeri had received. Oh well, sometimes it just had to be that way. [color=gray]"Nice to meet you!" He responded pleasantly enough, unbothered completely. It was Monroe that truly sparked his interest, mouth parting in awe as he drank in the sight of the mutated feline. [color=gray]"Listen... listen- I know we just met and all but can I take your picture sometime? I have this great idea for a shoot right by the ocean and it would be so cool! Trust me on this one! Anyways, it's nice to meet you!" Ilijas' excited chatter did not subside as he turned briefly away from Monroe to greet Gordon. [color=gray]"Hey there, nie to meet 'cha." She seemed a bit nervous but that did little to damper the suddenly chipper behavior of Ilijas. No, no, he was still too intrigued by Monroe and the possibility of an absolutely killer photoshoot. (this... ended up longer than i anticipated i'm so sorry) cause god, i never felt young

The opposite sure but not this. He was used to others running in fear or even becoming nasty to him because of his appearance. But then again maybe he should be more forth coming when it was Sunhaven that showed him that his appearance was accepted here and that they didn't see him as some mutated monster. But still he was unsure of that in regards to what this guy wanted and it threw him for a loop. To take his picture by the ocean. His muzzle parted and he was a bit speechless, puffs of air leaving his throat before he snapped his teeth shut against one another causing a strange gritting sound. Shuffling his paws he started to feel his skin turning red from the attention and slight embarrassment as he looked down at the ground. Wow, no one had ever wanted to take a picture of him before and he chuckled lightly out of nerves before he looked back up to the bengal. "A'ight, sure as rain ya can take me picture. I don't mind it, lad. Just let me know when ya want tae do it." After all it was just a picture and he didn't see any harm coming to agreeing on such a thing. Heck, it might even be a bit fun. |
