[div style="margin: 0 auto; width: 55%; font-family: arial; font-size: 11pt; text-align: justify;"]It was a bright, sunny morning, and Elia had been up and at them for a while already, as kids tended to before they hit adolescence. Mostly, she had been simply exploring, sticking her long nose in every nook and cranny of the island, sniffing everything.
Still, when she pulled her head back from a little cave, she didn't notice a small black mass sat atop her head. No, not until she stepped back into the sunlight and she heard a tiny cry of displeasure from her head. At first the hound thought the noise was her ears, trying to tilt her ears forward like she'd seen her brother do, but sadly her ears weren't as movable as Captainpaw's.
She backed up back into the shadow, and the thing promptly quietened. What the heck? Elia was quick to give herself a headache trying to see the thing, but it was too small, and her head was too behind her eyes. Eventually, she decided to just live with it - this was just her life now. Trying to keep steady and in the shadows as she made her way back to camp, she called, "Caaap! I, uh - I have a present for you!" She called for her brother, unsure what the present actually was, other than it was small and alive and it had come from a cave.

slowly the tom was getting better by the day. today as he left the tree house, his headaches had ceased. they weren't subtle or making his head feel empty anymore, and he didn't feel like he had to avoid the entire outside during the day whenever he went out. his throat was still a bit sore, and his nose was stuffy but he was making progress.
kelly green eye's peered over his shoulder as a familiar voice called out for him, his tail curled over his back as he recognized who it was. "elia!" he giggled, running toward her, his gaze turning up to her head. "who's that? they don't look so good..." he stretched up on his toes, trying to take a curious sniff at the creature. he yelped as the winged animal dove under his pirate hat, and blinked in surprise.
"i don't know if this is appropriate or not, but i will allow it." the striker stated with a slight nod of his head. cap looked back to elia with a nervous smile. "does your friend really like hats? that's pretty cool if he does, i can make us matching ones!"

"He likes the dark! Still, he's your friend now." The hound told her brother cheerfully. "He's a magical healing creature. He'll help you get better in no time." Elia boasted, puffing her chest up with pride at having found a "magic" animal.
"He would definitely like a hat." She nodded with confidence, just hoping her dummy brother could suspend his belief for a second and let the bat's "magic" do its thing.
