BLACKBERRY STONE - o, wandering about - musey - 08-10-2018

[align=center][div style="width: 51%; text-align: justify; font-size: 10pt; letter-spacing: -1px; font-family: georgia;"]quietly retcons cav into the last meeting so i can have him...., interact with people

It's been a few days since the power went out. He'd been stricken with a cold sort of panic, at first - the thought of chaos overwhelming them all, desperate hands tearing at the windows to throw their bodies out, his paws awkwardly picking at the locks in an nervous attempt at a skill he never learnt - but came to recognize that this, like most other things he's endured, would only be one inconvenience among many in the years to come. It was just a power surge, nothing more or less. While his new clanmates cried out that it was prophetic, a disturbance in their spirits, a person behind it all, Cav elected to assume that there was an easier way to explain - and thus an easier way to resolve - the temporary mishap. Yet the clawing feeling of dread still made the hairs on the nape of his neck stand, a feeling he couldn't shake despite how much logic he attempted to apply. He imagines desperate claws tearing open the windows, bodies cracking against the ground because death by sudden impact is much easier than the slow agony of starvation. He sees wild eyes and hungry animals, feral things ripping at the bodies of their kin for a sliver of meat to sustain them. He closes his eyes and he sees -

Books, a distraction. He'd come up here for a reason, and giving himself a mild panic attack was not one of them. The dripping candlestick in Cavalrychoirs' paw wavers, but remains steadfast as he moves down one of the many halls in search of the library. There was a library here, no? He assumed in an academic complex there'd be plenty of books, anything to preoccupy the mind when there was little else to do but stare at the sky. Few maps were abound, likely snatched up by the buddy groups to find their way about, so the best he could do was explore the building while his lone candle lasted him. If he was lucky, he'd open a door and be faced with rows upon rows of pages to peruse - even better, there may be some useful information on the building's operations, how to work the generators and shut down the security system. (Lord knew after so many sleepless nights that the blare of sirens was beginning to get to them all.) For now, though, the most Cav could do was scan through each hall and hope for the best.

Technically, there was a library. Not exactly as Cav was imagining, he was sure: there was no true arrangement of a library in the Observatory, or any particular room dedicated to the sort of collection from the days when this building had been used by humans. But Bastille kept a relatively extensive library on the topics he preferred, and his "secret" library had become fairly common knowledge shortly after Rad discovered he had books. (Damned thief. She was his friend, sure, but half the time he had to bargain with her just to recover his own books. And half the time he had to offer his blood in the name of science to appease her.) The books filling his room were a bit limited in scope given his particular tastes, but he usually could conjure something close to what someone was looking from one of Grimm's many stores of books. Thus, they had a "library". Sort of.

Bastille might have laughed if he knew that was what Cav was searching for, but all he did was arch a brow when he came across the older male wandering seemingly aimlessly through the underground complex. [b]"Yo," he greeted, ignoring the way memories flickered over his vision. Scattered toys seemed to sit on the ground at Cav's paws, but Bast knew they were just fragments of scenes from the past, and tuned them out to focus on him. "Lose your room?" he drawled in slight amusement, arching a brow.
