She had taken a break from her forge a few months before everything had come crashing down, left to burn as she ran, terrified and alone. Guilt had touched her within those first days for she had chosen to save her tools rather any the family heirlooms she permitted to burn, seeing little worth when they had abandoned her, pushed aside simply for embracing who she was. Many times she had thought about simply throwing the tools into the ocean, allowing them to sink to the bottom and be forgotten, but something had held her back. It might have been a simple selfish desire to continue her work, once a proud smith she wanted it once more, to feel the heat upon her fur and feel the thrum of excitement as she shaped steel, but fate seemed to have something else in store for her.

It seemed a miracle that this place welcomed her and the profession she longed to once more work, though finding a place to build her forge had been a hardship she had cared little for. Where once she had a forge her own, grand and well worn, given the tender love of many before her, what she had now was simple and small, tucked away into a cave in the mountain which surrounded the floating village. But it was hers, touched by none but her own paws, a place familiar though it was strange to her, a home where her original forge had never been such.

Either through a stroke of luck or the simple gossip of those about her it was easy for Ishayu to pick up on the fact Monroe sought some work, just what she was unsure for such detail had been left out, but it was enough to excite her. With her forge prepared she had set about setting up a meeting within her home, preparing a meal and tea so they might talk over what work he needed to see if she might be able to do it.

Early that day the mountain lion had dropped by his home and traded a few of her finds for a fresh salmon, leaving the hybrid with an invitation to  drop by her home around lunch time so they might talk, deciding to leave off her reasoning for such. It was around the time he was supposed to turn up and so she set the low table which sat besides a little kitchenette at the back of her home, placing two plates upon blue knitted place mats. She had grilled the salmon and had put with it a pile of steamed vegetables she had tossed with a little oil and herbs, a small cup of white tea placed beside each plate.

A soft hum parted her lips as she fixed the vase of wildflowers she had set at the table's centre, keeping an ear out for a knock upon the door.

MONROE
MALE — SUNHAVEN — SUNBEARER — HARD
Pulses of his nerves hit him hard. He was so nervous because he had never asked anyone to make anything for him before. He didn't want to come off as push or selfish so he just kept his small wants to himself even though he was sure that it would be okay. Mama had come to visit him early that day and they had a good time talking together and getting to know one another just a bit better. It was really good to be able to talk to someone and with Pele there he was starting to feel more grounded, like he belonged and it was a long time since he had felt that way on land. He really enjoyed her company and then the invitation had come for him to come to her place for a bit. Well, he couldn't say no as that would be rude and really who could say no to Mama. She was amazing and caring which meant a lot to him. Perhaps she could help him with his...feelings. A blush sprouted along his cheeks as he thought of a certain clouded leopard before he shook his head a little bit and headed out of his home.

Walking along the boardwalk he shifted a little, skin a little uncomfortable and he would need to remind himself to put on some more of that amazing smelling salve sometime before nightfall. It really helped when it came to the summer heat that was still burning and baking the earth. Eyes of pearls shifted over the any buildings and he breathed out a soft breath before putting some pep in his step and making his way over to Mama's place. Pausing before the door he lowered his head a bit and took a deep breath to get his nerves out of the way and then he knocked gently upon her door before he lightly opened it to peek inside. Immediately the smell of cooked salmon entered his nostrils with vegetables and his curiosity was perked as he lifted his head a bit. "Ay Mama, I'm come for that visit. May I come in, lass?"

[align=center][div style="width:400px; font-size:8pt;line-height:1.1;color:#000;font-family:arial;margin-top:3px;margin-bottom:3px;letter-spacing:0px;margin-left:0px;text-align:justify;"]Feelings proved a complicated matter, one she had a hand in for some time but love, such had grown to become a concept unfamiliar to her, the first time she had ever allowed romantic feelings to rise within her ending with disaster. It was strange to find herself feeling so freely once more, immersed within the community and growing to enjoy the gentle bustle of life, to care for those present. Few within her life had gained such a leave of care, broke through her barrier until she had grown to want to see them happy, protect them even if it meant breathing her last. Amongst that short list was Monroe.

A stranger to him and yet he had been so ready to welcome her, had shown himself to be a soul touched with kindness and generosity, something she found herself drawn to. In truth she was proud of him, watching as he flourished within the community, gaining a reputation as something beyond a mutant – though such a word might never cross her thoughts when it came to him, it meant nothing to her how he might look – and slowly she found herself wondering upon the prospect of family. Little had tempted her to once more seek out such a bond when the few she had allowed in had found a violent end, but something about this place spoke of a new chance, a way to start a life free of it all.

Her hum broke off as the familiar voice rose, lips curling into a smile which showed her teeth, the expression in those maroon eyes one of joy. “Of course you silly fish, please, come sit,” laughter touched her words and she gestured to the table, welcoming him to sit and eat. Sensing his hesitation to speak Ishayu thought better of beating around the bush and making him speak of it, rather she took it into her own hands, hoping he didn't mind her rather direct approach to the matter. “Now I heard you were looking for some work, I can't offer promises it will be quick but I am happy to make anything you need. And no, you will not need to pay so please do not fret about it, I enjoy my work and if it means helping a friend I am happy to do it for free.”

[ i'm so sorry this took so long to get back to, my muse was gone for a good while ]
