endless summer — garden shop! - jericho - 08-07-2018
Jericho has been setting up shop in the boat docked by his home for the past few weeks — progress has been slow-moving, considering all he has on his plate as leader. It's so difficult to find free time between everything he needs to do and everyone he has to meet, and even then he tries to split it amongst the town and the mountains and his garden. Nevertheless, a week or so after beginning he thinks it might just be ready to open. The ship is relatively small, its interior cleared and replaced with wooden floors and tables, shelves that fold out from vertical wooden slabs and counters that hang over the starboard side where the boat remains docked. Every nook and cranny is made use of: giant pots and vases filled with flowers and bouquets crowding the floor, the boards decked out with boxes of seeds and crates of fruits and berries. Underneath he's gathered all of the gardening supplies he can get his paws on in boxes, haphazard mixes of trowels and watering cans and cultivators. There aren't as many of those (unlike some of his more natural offerings, it isn't as if tools grow on trees), but he thinks it'll be enough for now. If nothing else, he's willing to rent them out.
The flowers have taken him some time to find (his own will take a while to even sprout, much less mature, as his garden is still new) but he's managed to collect a wide array, a vibrant rainbow of baby blues and bubblegum pinks and everything in between. The fruits are all freshly collected from the orchard — it's the best season for them, after all. The whole place smells of nectarine and strawberry and honey-sweet flora. Jericho's begun to fall in love with every inch of it and gods, is he excited to share his passion with his clanmates and all those beyond. The little ginger-furred feline wanders his tiny store, running his whiskers lightly against the flowers, with a pause every few steps to adjust them. He's putting on the last finishing touches; he wants it to be perfect. And it is — there's only one thing left to do. Jericho hobbles forth to the docked side, ears pricked and warm amber gaze flickering about as his attention tries to determine whether there's anyone nearby. "Ah... c-could someone help flip my closed sign so it, um, says open?" he calls, the skin beneath his fur turning red in his sheepishness. The tabby himself is too short to reach it, but at least he'll have caught the attention of the others. /welcome to jeri's gardening shop! he sells flowers, herbs, seeds, fruits/berries, and miscellaneous gardening supplies. he'll pretty much trade for anything he likes or can make use of. for a reference as to his shop, it looks like this but he sells flowers. i plan on making a concrete inventory at some point but for now you can just assume he has anything that falls into any of the categories listed. p.s. he's also willing to help characters start their own gardens with anything they purchase ;^) Re: endless summer — garden shop! - Pele N. F. I. - 08-07-2018 PELE I AM A COSMIC CHILD
Pele was an avid gardener herself, and not because she grew hibiscus whenever her paws touched dirt. Though, as much as a previous her might've hated to admit it, she'd found a slight home here in Sunhaven. Already she'd found a friend and even family in Monroe, and since the clan was small for now, she expected to get to know most everyone else at some point. Upon hearing Jeri's call for a tiny bit of assistance, Pele flew down from her odd crows nest perch, and flipped the sign to its correct side. The array of flora awed her, not even on her travels had she seen such a display. "You've got a good setup here Jericho, got any tea plants perchance?" © MADI

She had grown used to the barren scape and enjoyed the few flowers she could trade for when her tribe had passed through a town, short lived for it was not suited to the heat, and had come to collect a few pressed flowers to preserve them. Slowly her horizons were expanding as she came to explore further into the land, enjoying each chance she had to marvel at the bounty the earth provided, yet this was something different. At the call Ishayu turned her attention towards the little shop, for a time worrying she might not fit for her frame was a bit larger than expected for a mountain lion, approaching with hesitant steps. Catching sight of Pele she offered the child a small smile, remembering her from when she had turned up covered in blood and seeking assistance, happy she had decided to stay. Towards the shop her attention turned and her breath was caught in an audible gasp, eyes widening as she looked upon it all. Truly it was a beauty she had not experienced and she looked upon it with glee, overjoyed she had the chance to even see it. “Oh, good morning Jericho, this is truly spectacular,” remembering her manners Ishayu offered the small tom a warm greeting, casting her gaze about the space. “I would love to get some herbs, medical and cooking if you have them, I would be happy to make you some tools in exchange.” Having noticed the small number of tools present she thought little of offering to make more as her forge was well underway, ready to go to work if in need of organisation, buried deep within the mountains to be sure the fires wouldn't come to touch to floating homes. Re: endless summer — garden shop! - PIERCE - 08-08-2018 [div style="margin-top: 30px; text-align: center; font-family: timesnewroman; font-size: 35px; color: white;"]pierce parker ☀ — just two ghosts standing in the place of you and me space How long it had been since the fresh scent of flora had graced Pierce's senses, Snowbound being rather limited in terms of flower growth. Though he had recently discovered that, on occasion, when he was feeling something strongly, flowers would sprout at his paws, they would usually die in a matter of minutes, the cold in his old home far too much for them. Here, Jericho's plants were lush and brightly colored and the sweet smell was almost overwhelming, but it put a bright smile on Pierce's features despite memories of a certain gardener; the other serval, his daughter's other father, still came to mind from time-to-time, and though the memory of him - and, more importantly, losing him - hurt like hell, he remembered the slightly younger man fondly, and could only hope that he was still alive and well, even if that reality meant that he left his boyfriend willingly. No need for all that sad stuff, though, he was getting off track. Drawn over by the dazzling colors and sweet smells, Pierce arrived shortly after Ishayu, gazing at Jeri's beautiful arrangement with a joyful grin upon his features; up with art and the color yellow, flowers were one of his favorite things. "This is amazing!" he agreed, giving his signature dog-like wag of his tail as he stepped somewhat closer. He'd seen Jeri in passing a few times, and he seemed like a cool guy, but this definitely made him much, much cooler. "Some strawberries and a bouquet of flowers would be lovely, Jericho. Is there, uh, anything specific you'd likely for those?" Though it was likely a fact unknown to most, Pierce absolutely loved strawberries, and considering he and Clem's current home was a bit bare (he had yet to empty a few of the bags they had brought over), he thought some flowers would add a nice pop of color. However, he didn't really have much worth trading- just some art supplies and a few books, though, despite wanting to distance himself from his past, namely Riddlersgame, he wasn't sure he wanted to part with those books just yet. gardening was a pretty foreign concept to the child. then again, everything was- this entire planet was. the blue sky, the clear water... it was all new to him. still, though, that was why he was here, wasn't it? to see the beauty in new things? he heard voices, and decided to pad over after doing nothing but running up and down the beach. he leaped over, eyes wide. a little garden shop on the water? how strange, he thought! was gardening a big thing here? he heard everybody offering things to trade, but amnia had nothing. he turned, going back to the beach, and found a cute little pink seashell- a small conch-type. he then padded back, placing the shell on the counter. "i want a leaf!" he announced, having absolutely no clue what an equal exchange was, or why he should want a leaf- he just wanted it. Re: endless summer — garden shop! - jericho - 08-15-2018
/this is absurdly late but oh well
also i didn't proofread this so i'm sorry if it makes no sense The tiny gardener hears the air around him whistle with movement and the quiet shifting of the sign and sighs gently with relief. There's one thing off the list, at least, yet it seems that even without trying his call has attracted some customers. His ears prick and he wonders who exactly it was that helped him open, jaws parting to taste the air when before he can even inhale the other speaks and he immediately recognizes it as the Hearthkeeper. He smiles sheepishly at her compliment — the setup is rather extravagant for humble little Jericho, but the tabby tends to get carried away with flowers. It's easy for him to get lost working in his garden, collecting herbs from the territory, making sure every bit of flora is in its perfect place. He dips his head graciously and then focuses on her request, turning with his mouth help agape to help him navigate the space. "I, ah, do have some raw tea leaves, if that works! I c-can also give you some lavender or chamomile — er, I don't know what flavors you like, but I believe I've got some bergamot somewhere too," the tomcat offers as he hobbles towards a basket in the back. He's uncharacteristically sure of himself, the words rolling off his tongue with only as much hesitation as his stutter (something beyond his own control). Plants are just about the only thing he truly feels certain of in his life, and he relishes in that feeling of sureness that is so often fleeting. Jericho carries back a couple of leaves and places them gingerly at his paws, only to lean down and nudge them in the direction in which he can sense Pele standing. He hears an intake of breath and only then realizes that they're no longer alone, his body straightening once more. At the mountain lioness's compliment he exhales into a slight smile, red once more rising to his cheeks — he never quite knows how to take praise, despite the warm gratitude he feels. He hardly has time to focus on it, however, for he's soon listening to Ishayu's request and nodding vigorously. "Oh! Of course, I-I've got lots, ah..." he trails off to turn his head from side to side, unable to see what lies before him and instead mentally doing over where everything is and what exactly he has for sale. ...Perhaps he should take inventory next time. Nevertheless his attention returns to the much-larger blacksmith, honey eyes wide and sightlessly staring through her despite their movement with his own focus as it shifts. "Well, I've gotten lots of rosemary, thyme, lavender, chervil, and feverfew this season. There's always some marigold lying around as well — ah, take your pick!" Another voices reaches his ears and Jericho finds himself becoming increasingly surprised by how quickly his clanmates are finding his business. Upon the realization that it's Pierce he listens and then seems to visibly lighten up at his request. "S-Strawberries are my favorite, too," Jericho responds softly, the beginnings of a smile touching at his lips once more. He turns for a moment, once more limping past tables and shelves to where a bucket of pre-wrapped bouquets lie, a thourough mix of his favorite flowers: everything from forget-me-nots to sweet-smelling honeysuckles to buttercups and orchids. The tom picks one up gently between his teeth, balancing it gingerly with as little pressure as he can manage as he returns to Pierce. He thinks back to the beach village and teaching his clanmates to make bouquets for their allies, seated beneath that kapok and asking his boyfriend which flowers he liked best so that he could plant them together. He still does, even to this day. Jericho shakes away the thought (he can tell he's paused just a little too long already) and continues, carefully placing the flora at the serval's paws before he turns to scoop some of the strawberries that sit in a wooden crate into a tin to set beside the other merchandise. His gaze lifts and he comes to the sudden awareness that he has no idea what he wants in return — the Helion will admit that he was more excited to sell things than receive them. "Um, I'll take anything you have — you can always pay me back later, though," Jericho adds politely after a heartbeat's pause, leaning back to finally sit. He thinks that perhaps that's all as far as customers for now, but then he hears a smaller voice and Jericho's ears lift attentively once more. The kit has placed something down — it sounds hard, but it smells of the sea. Some sort of rock or shell, perhaps? Jericho's amber eyes move towards Amnia blindly, genuinely kind and warm albeit slightly confused (in a rather amused way, of course) by his vague demands. "Ah, any... specific leaf?" the Havener asks with gentle, inquisitive politeness and a flick of his tail as it curls across his white-tipped paws. Given Amnia's age Jericho has his doubts that the Ray has any clue what type of leaf he wants, either. The ginger-furred tabby decides to take it upon himself to suggest, "I-I could give you some tea leaves like I gave to Pele, or herbs like I offered Ishayu." |
