A heartbeat. Strong. Pulsing. Hot blood pumping through hotter veins, molten gold and silver that cascaded underneath the creature's skin, pushing... urging for them to get up, to reform. A breath. Two. Oxygen rebuilding cells from nothing but the atoms around them, carbon transforming into the vague shape of an animal that longed to live like the rest of them. Nothing more than a shadow at that given moment, the hint of something new... but not quite formed yet, ethereal and intangible despite best efforts. A beat. Two. Three. Lungfuls of oxygen filled their still-forming lungs, sharp... raw, and after so long... they once again remembered what it felt like to be alive.

It had been a while, a year going strong since their smooth paws had touched any world, their ethereal presence remaining tied to everything rather than one thing. Existence was tiring, especially after the six years all marked like a map on their scarred skin, turned red and raw and burning underneath the pressure of not only the living, but of the immortal, the pressure of living in both worlds at once with nowhere to fit in in between.

This form was ever shifting, however, a beast and a lesson in fluidity. They were never meant to be such a physical vessel, the embodiment of everything struggling to leave it's confinement of a simple animal. No, they were something more, new but at the same time so ancient. The form they donned was nothing but an illusion, a means of contacting those who existed in the physical realm and existing among them, if only for six more years before they returned to their true form to recharge as they had now.

All their powers were gone, as was their power. Their history was nothing but a speck in the universe, gone from this timeline as the individuals they had met did not exist (did not exist yet, or would never? They could not tell, could only hope that some of their past would return to them despite knowing better.) Who they had been there did not matter here, for here the groups they had inhabited did not exist, and therefore, in reality, their power was meaningless in the context of this here world.

Lirim was nothing. They were everything. They were new, but so, so old, painfully aware of existence and nonexistence itself. Painfully aware of just how tragic this new beginning would be once it all ended again, and they would be forced into a state of eternity once everything was over and history would cease to exist completely.

earn it yet again, as you wish

Here they could be what they wanted, could pretend for what it was worth that they were no one significant, that they did not represent the very thing that created and destroyed all before them. If for a second, they could pretend to be normal, then slowly retain their power and create a new mark on history that, too, would be eventually erased.

They had to wonder, sometimes, what the greater point was; but those were depressing thoughts they didn't wish to dwell on. The purpose was to live, nothing more. There was no use thinking over it.

"Lirim Break," they tasted the name on their tongue, wondering briefly if it would make any sense to change it. They had changed it a lot. This was the newest addition to a vast array, but nothing else had ever fit them as much as it had. It would serve it's purpose, no matter how sentimental it would be. Leaving behind everything was unwarranted and unneeded. They would take their name, and nothing else.

A soft sigh left their parted lips as the dark canine all but slid up to the border, ink black paws marring the scenery beneath them, parts of their form drifting in and out of focus as if trying to dislocate themselves from reality yet again. They would get used to it, eventually, and the glitching would no doubt stop once they did. For now, it was something they were willing to live with, if only to get a taste of the physical world once more.

So they waited on the border, once again starting anew in the greatest sense of the meaning.

Power was never something to be relinquished it allowed one to protect others.

However, she may have ironically returned to the Roseblood after all of her many abilities seemed to fail for some reason. Ever since first joining up with the Roseblood years before when things were much different, the feline had found many supernatural abilities existed within her. Sure she had almost always been a telepath, but everything else following that was new and power's just kept coming one after another until she had all of the ones she had ever heard other's speak about. The calico had always let other's believe the strength she held was great, that it was without consequence, but that was furthest from the truth. Even simply her telepathy? Had come with a great price the more she used it, apparently, her body could not endure the sheer strength of her abilities and the more she used them the more her head felt like it was going to explode until she couldn't even move anymore much less use her powers. Jiyu certainly did not miss the immobilizing part of having many powers at her disposal! At the moment she did not miss her supernatural abilities much at all, so long as no one knew they were missing in the first place she could still intimidate other animals with them if she had to for the protection of others. Even without powers? The way she always seemed to cheat death was more than enough to let her protect what and who she needed to.

Black and orange ears tipped forward as she heard something ahead of where she was patrolling, realizing someone was at the border or about to cross it. Since she had locked onto location and could not seem to sense anyone right around the other right now, Jiyu did not rush into things. Instead of anything like running or such? The statue-like calico simply walked forward, phrasing through any trees in her way with one of the few powers she had that still worked. Considering the fact she had died and come back so many times? The ability to go ghost made sense as the one that still worked even if there seemed to be some sort of lock on her other powers. "What do you want here." it was no question, he was going to tell her or she may very well have to destroy him in order to keep him away from those she cared for. Jiyu was not one to play the little social games that other's played, they got in her way and she did not really understand them. Anything that could interfere in her ability to protect those she had silently sworn to keep safe? Was something she didn't need for any reason. Empty mismatched optics stared forward seemingly not even focused exactly on him but rather something no one else could see. Hopefully he would speak up promptly, she didn't want to have to chase someone off today.
