The sea had been no issue for them, for both of their bodies gave them the means of travel that extended beyond the need for land. The word filled them with distaste, but it was unknown, features blank not only due to their lack of many 'emotional' features to begin with. The owl face helped with creeping people out, but also in making sure that no one knew what South was thinking. Useful, when your entire life was centered around lying to get by. They landed just as softly, the two pendants around their neck clacking together being the only sound they made. The bell was ignored for now as the owl picked at one of the necklaces, carefully taking it off and then hanging it on one of the crags in the gate. A few more seconds were spent scrawling down a quick paper, ' for des, ' and after that they rang the bell, only to be gone just as quickly as they had came. He would know what it meant. There was no point in sticking around to get murdered for it. Re: monsters [ open / 'gift' on border ] - JUNJI - 08-04-2018 [div style="width: 500px; padding: 10px; height: auto; overflow: auto;"][div style="width: 400px; padding: 0px; line-height: 14px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial;"]it was a bit bothersome, ringing the bell in the dead of night. at least to most others it was; junji himself was a bit of an insomniac, slowly shuffling through the jungle when he heard the noise. the feline's maw stretched in a yawn and he turned for the border, breaching the trees with a soft hum. his ocean eyes scanned the area, but alas, the one who had rung it had disappeared. junji frowned. why would they do that? his tail twitched as he padded toward the fence and tipped his head upon seeing the pendant, glistening in the soft moonlight. a note beneath it called for desperado. curious; he didn't think the male had many connections outside of the typhoon, but then again, he was still getting to know him. the angel didn't touch the pendant. it wasn't his property, nor did he know what it did or its purpose. he didn't want to accidentally ruin it or something, so instead he simply let it be. jun quietly sat himself down beside the gate and sniffed the accessory lightly. a scent he couldn't identify clung to it. such was to be expected, he supposed. oh well. Re: monsters [ open / 'gift' on border ] - GABRIEL - 08-04-2018 [div style="width: 500px; text-align: justify; font-size: 9.4pt; line-height: 1.4;"]Whereas Junji was a bit more polite, Gabriel didn't hesitate to get nosy about the gift left at the gate. He could claim it was just a precaution, making certain there wasn't anything nefarious about the pendant, but with it hanging here, there wasn't much it could hide. Whoever left it had disappeared, so it wasn't bait. "I take it you didn't see anybody." It wasn't much of a question for Junji, more rhetorical than anything else, and after a moment, the hybrid stretched up, talons taking both the necklace and the paper down from the slot, aware of the possibility it could bite him in the ass, but he didn't think Des would take to physically hashing it out after he'd already put so much work into keeping Gabe from falling over anytime soon. It was a risk he was willing to take, for the sake of curiosity, although in the end, taking it down didn't do much to answer any of his questions, mainly, "who the fuck and why." "Hey, Des! If you can hear me, you've got mail." [i]——INFO Re: monsters [ open / 'gift' on border ] - adomania - 08-04-2018 [div style="borderwidth=0px; width: 55%; line-height:115%; text-align: justify;font-family: calibri;"]There was a schedule to a lot of Desperado's madness, a carefully and meticulously kept plan that kept him going when nothing else could. The mornings were spent for patrolling, as was mid-day and the evenings, but everything between that was left for other practices. Hopefully, during at least three of the days in a week, there was room in his schedule for the sleep he barely ever got... and that night, he was finally getting the shut eye he needed. Until the bell, of course. At first he ignored it, tried to chase after the fading remnants of the empty darkness he had embraced, but eventually Gabriel's voice cut through any and all attempts at returning, and so he got up, obviously displeased until his head poked out of the hut. There was no smile, but he still carried himself with ease towards the two near the gate, wondering why he of all people got mail and, more importantly, why. The answer was not one he wanted. The moment he was close enough to see what was in Gabriel's claws, his tongue suddenly felt heavy in his mouth, which had proceeded to run dry the moment the pendant caught his eyes. For a moment he considered the logistics of grabbing the pendant from out of Gabriel's talons and flinging it as far into the water as he could (then probably himself) but figured that it would end up proving to be far worse than simply accepting it. It was the one piece of jewelry he never wanted to wear. "Did any of you see who brought it?" the question was more of a sharp command, eyes flickering from Gabriel to Junji in a way that was obviously panicked as he lunged to take the small item from out of the former's grip. No one else knew what it meant, of course, but that didn't stop him from being overly cautious and protective upon instinct. He was jumpy, anxious, very quickly bordering aggressive... and obviously far from the Des that anyone had yet to know. He didn't dare place the necklace around his neck, however, placing it roughly on the ground under him as if it carried the plague itself inside of it's dark crystal. Re: monsters [ open / 'gift' on border ] - GABRIEL - 08-04-2018 [div style="width: 500px; text-align: justify; font-size: 9.4pt; line-height: 1.4;"]Gabriel had considered two potential reasonings behind the pendant: one, that it was merely a gift with a meaning only Des could understand, or two, it was a threat of some sort. In his experience, when things were delivered with names attached to them, they'd been presents from home or someone had gotten pissed off about the results of a mission. Of course, it tended to be more obvious with the latter situation, like a severed body part or a mutilated doll or just an angry note, but he couldn't rule out the possibility. He wanted it to be a gift. That would be the less stressful of the two, except when Des finally appeared -he must've woken him up, unfortunately- his reaction was not...anything like pleased embarrassment, or enthusiasm, or even confusion. The way he stared at the pendant in Gabe's talons almost had the hybrid checking to make certain he hadn't accidentally grabbed a viper. At least he could kill that. And eat it, but that wasn't the point. Exhaling, the owl-cat shook his head. "No. Whoever they were, they must've been pretty quick to leave so soon." Maybe as quick as the way Des darted for the pendant, which Gabe didn't resist passing over, if he could even claim to have had that much control over holding it in the first place. His dark gaze remained on the mutated wolf, unreadable, tracing the way he stuffed the pendant beneath him as though to hide it. Definitely not a gift. "I'm assuming you've got an idea about them, though." His good wing fluttered a bit, before drawing in tight against his side. "You don't have to say anything about it, I won't pry. And I'm not going to take it from you, either." He even took a few steps back to prove his point, having spent enough time around the desperately territorial. the girl hasn't been sleeping properly for a long time now. she refused to. the only sleep she got was when she was either too sick or injured to not rest or when her body collapsed from exhaustion. but, tonight was not one of the nights her body decided to collapse. instead, she just moved slowly and quietly throughout the territory, only changing her pace when she heard the bell, and then voices.
goldenluxury moved towards them, her striking green eyes' glow even more apparent in the dark. she peered towards the gathering group, looking towards the item that was left - a necklace. she didn't know who left it, but she had figured it was a nice gesture, up until she noticed desperado's reaction to it. he didn't seem very comfortable about it. she wondered why. "it looks pretty," the young girl would offer lightly, voice soft as she stepped closer to them. maybe he didn't like necklaces or something. or maybe he was just really grumpy about having been woken up for it. she wouldn't ask, though. Re: monsters [ open / 'gift' on border ] - Character Graveyard. - 08-04-2018 Kirishima hadn't been able to sleep that well, so the young-male had decided to wander the territory, for something that would clear his mind and hopefully fall asleep. So when the bell had been rung, the Beta would lift up both of his ears before he would head to the gate, where he found a few others, to his surprise. Scarlet-colored hues would run over everyone else, before landing on the pendants that had been left here out of all places. He would decide to remain silent, though he continued to keep his red-eyes focused on the others. tags :: updated 7/26: Re: monsters [ open / 'gift' on border ] - Luciferr - 08-04-2018

KNOW THE DARK BUT LET IT REST "Whoever they were, they were quick on the wing - I did not see them land nor fly away, though they seemed to have timed it just as I was farthest afield" the great dragon mused happening upon the group - indeed there were no tracks indicating it had been flight and whomever it was had been observant enough to know or at least guess when his patrl route took him farthest from this area to be in and out so quick. he'd give them pints for that, whoever they were, enemy or no - he wasn't above recognising skill and talent to leave unseen and with no trace. multi hued eyes shifted to Des speaking with Gabriel and the others - minorly concerned over what the pendant meant for the man, though he knew the ascendants had a pendant custom he doubted this was why, given the reaction to it hm,

Re: monsters [ open / 'gift' on border ] - adomania - 08-04-2018 [div style="borderwidth=0px; width: 55%; line-height:115%; text-align: justify;font-family: calibri;"]"No. I don't. That's the worst part," he rumbled in response, but gave no more clarification when Gabriel made it obvious that he wasn't looking for it. That was enough information for all of them, frankly his very response had been too much and too telling already. Once again he considered abandoning the black pendant, pretending like it and it's implications didn't exist and it had all just been a dream, but the very thought of that also sent his nerves fraying. He half hoped Gabriel would take it, but he didn't say that, too caught up in his thoughts to even attempt some quick banter with the hybrid. A few seconds of silence passed, and as a bigger crowd came over to offer their insight towards the item, he couldn't hold it back anymore. The canine's usually-heterochromic gaze was quick to transform into the two pupil-less black eyes that followed emotions such as this, but before anyone could point it out (and hopefully also see), he quickly turned away with a low growl. It wasn't pretty. It wasn't good. It meant that his greatest fears were soon to come. The pendant meant to be wary, to remember his place. Lirim was back, and their control was imminent. "I'm going back to sleep," his voice was gritted between a clenched jaw, muscles strained as he turned around and started to walk back towards his hut, mind blazing with hundreds of possibilities that all sounded wrong no matter what. "I advise you all to do the same." |
