✕ ✕ awesome, i'm like a f*ckin Jedi

He walked on tired, aching paws. His lungs burned with each breath, his whole body screaming at him to rest, but he knew he couldn't. That psycho was probably out looking for him already and he definitely didn't want to be caught again--he didn't know what he would do to him if he got him. The pain running through his shoulder reminded him of what he knew he was capable of. He didn't want to come face-to-face with his huge claws again. And I thought Washington and all his buddies were crazy, the canine thought to himself as he continued limping forward.

It wasn't easy getting out in the first place. The stranger was way larger than he was, not to mention the sharp pin-pricks he had for claws. When he was first abducted, he was defiant despite the fear lodged in his gut, running his mouth off to the large hellhound. But he quickly learned better than to do that after he lashed out and left him with the large gash in his shoulder he had now. Church was certain he would have killed him if it weren't for that weird holographic monkey thing. He remembered him referring to him as 'Alpha,' whatever that meant. Either way, he didn't like how things were going, so while he was out doing something or other, he snuck out of the hole he had been hidden away in. Since he had been around there before, he recognized it as Tanglewood territory. It was as sludgy and gross as he had remembered. Still, he wasn't deterred as he made a bee-line for nowhere in particular, focused on just getting the hell out of there. Now he realized he was terribly lost, with that crazy guy on his heels. It wasn't looking great for him. "[b]Shit," the male cursed under his breath as his leg buckles underneath him. He managed to keep his balance, but it didn't seem like he would be getting much farther than this. Even so, he had to try. With a deep breath, he took a step forward--and roughly face-planted into the dirt. He sputtered, spitting out grass and any curse word he could think of off the top of his head. After a while of struggling on the ground, he eventually decides it hurts too much to move, so he resigns himself to his fate. It was nice while it lasted. a

Agent Washington former human - freelancer - manipulative Washington still had little to no idea what had even happened that day. He, of course, remembers getting his arm basically snapped in half, and then Carolina getting severely injured before ultimately dying from her wounds. The Freelancer knew he was to blame for that part, but what he didn't understand was why Maine had done it. He had no idea why the other, one who he considered to once be his family and even friend, would try and immediately kill him. It seemed like not everyone knew the truth of Project Freelancer or what was going on inside behind their backs. Did Maine know and then realize that Washington could potentially be a threat to the program and that's why he was attacked? Was he actually working with Project Freelancer to try and get their gear back? It was by means following all the protocol that they had been given and what they had done to try and get CT's armor during the raid against the insurrectionists. It made sense as to why him and Carolina would end up being a target in the first place. It was frustrating because no matter how much he thought about it, he didn't know why Church was captured except for a couple thoughts that had recently come up to him. howieThere was a chance that the other recognized him as being a simulation trooper based on the blue helmet alone, and thought that he could be used a hostage to get to both Washington and Carolina. But to Washington, Church wasn't all that much of an asset that needed to be protected. He was a simulation trooper and only that. There would be no leverage as they were more likely after Maine himself and not Church anyway after being attacked. Something that Maine should have considered when they had attacked him. Washington didn't care if Church died, not in the slightest, but he didn't care if anyone died around him anymore. The hallucinations that had sparked up inside of his head making him realize that he couldn't trust anyone. The trust having been ripped from him as soon as he had landed in the damned outpost. Sure, things had calmed down from their group and the outpost, but there was so much more to be done that needed fixing. They still needed to figure out a damn way out of here. But there was a smaller thought, of whether or not Maine had stolen Church because he knew him. Agent Texas knew Church somehow, and he wasn't exactly sure how but hey did. That meant that the other had some connection with Project Freelancer and potentially have confidential information that Maine either wanted or couldn't let get out to the public. Which the animals that lived here learning about what they really were wasn't all that much of an issue, but still something that Washington wasn't willing to give out information about it. Habits were habits after all. They didn't have a choice to not follow Maine when the other ran off with the canine. There was nothing they could do to try and catch him, Carolina could barely stand and the same was for Washington. Then Carolina ended up dying from the wounds that she had gotten, and he knew it was his fault that he didn't react quickly enough to seeing Maine. He knew now that this wasn't the same man that he knew during the Project, and wasn't going to hesitate this time. Was he willing to kill Maine? Probably. The other was a threat and if he wasn't working with Project Freelancer it meant the other was AWOL. Soldiers that were given that title usually didn't live long enough to be known for it. It was basically their job to hunt down someone that was a threat, and almost as an act of revenge for nearly killing him. A moment in where Maine could have snapped his neck if he hadn't gotten out of the other's grip echoed in his head. The other Freelancer was going to kill him. Two could play at that game. When Washington had asked him what had happened to him, the other had said that he just had a facade. Well, it wasn't Maine that said it, but instead Sigma. The bastard. He had never liked that AI, and since the other had managed to make it to this world, it just meant that there were other AI's that could make it as well. Carolina had said that Maine had taken out her AI's after the crash and before the explosion of the Mother of Invention. It didn't sound like it was true, and that had been the one reason why Washington had hesitated. But with someone that had three AI's and were physically capable of handling them? That was dangerous. More dangerous than any of these outposts that were put together that were a form of concern. They also couldn't let the likes of them get hold of an AI fragment and needed to retrieve them, or destroy them. One of the two. In Washington's mind, it would be easier to destroy them, objective denial. Scouring the surroundings area had been a pain in the ass. They had spread out to see if they could figure out exactly where Maine had ended up going and it was incredibly difficult. Washington had overheard Roy complaining that the scent that was attached to Maine was Tanglewood. Did he know where that was at? Of course, he didn't. So he asked around and was able to get directions where they would be going. Luckily for him, his leg had been healed, and Carolina was alive. Although, she was in a smaller body now so if they did come across him it was going to be a bit of a challenge. He was just smaller than Maine and it was two against one. And this time they would be trying to kill him and Washington would make sure not to get seriously injured. He couldn't use scents to track anyone down, and looking at the state of Tanglewood he was glad to see that his mask had filters on them. This place looked awful. Washington was glad that he didn't live in this place. He had his armor on, and his body was already tense in case Maine had set up an ambush anywhere nearby. Washington didn't seem all that bothered to be walking through some of the muddied portions of the territory, as he could clean himself off later. It was in the distance though, he saw a flash of bright blue. It was very small, and it made him stop in his tracks. Was that Maine or someone else that they didn't know? He couldn't tell from this distance, and he lowered his head and crouched his body lower to the ground. He was thankful that the majority of the place was dark and that his armor could help him blend in just a little bit. It was then that after a couple minutes and peaking from behind a nearby tree, that he was able to see that it was indeed Church. The simulation trooper obviously injured and exhausted. Washington didn't immediately approach him though, and he looked around in the trees waiting to see if it was some sort of ambush. It was a regular tactic after all to used an injured individual to lure someone close. From where he was though, he couldn't tell there was an ambush and doubted that Maine would be up in a tree with how large he was. Coming out from behind the tree, Washington would trot in Church's direction. [b]"Church!" Washington called out toward the injured border collie, before coming to a stop next to the Simulation trooper. His head on a swivel as he needed to make sure the area was secure for the time being. "Carolina!" Washington called out over his shoulder. They had made sure that when they split up that they would be within earshot so that they could call for one another. He had yet to get the radio's up and running. His helmet covered head turned to look at Church though. "Church where is he? Why did he take you?" Washington questioned as he turned his body in the direction that Church probably came from. Had the other managed to escape? If that was the case, the other had earned a little bit of respect from the Freelancer to manage to get away from someone that had two AI's. The scar on the back of his neck began to burn being so close to the border collie, and he certainly hadn't missed that feeling while the other was gone and all of them were recovering. ✕ ✕ awesome, i'm like a f*ckin Jedi

Now that he had gotten away, he had a chance to choose between going back to the Ascendants with those other Freelancers, or try and find help elsewhere. Simply put, he didn't like nor trust them. He liked the people, or civilians as they called them, but none could make him stick around those psychos. No way in hell. He felt bad for leaving Tex behind, but he knew she could handle herself, even with Carolina around. What kind of beef did they have, anyways? It was kind of scary how angry the leopard got whenever she saw her. Nevertheless, it was still a hard decision, because as far as he knew, they were the only ones who knew anything and could protect him from that hellhound asshole.

He didn't have to ponder over it for long, though, a sudden voice catching his attention. His head whips around, helmet nearly falling out of place. Fortunately and unfortunately, it was just Washington. He's somewhat relieved, though he keeps a stiffened posture, still flopped down on the muddy ground. He makes a face at it under his visor but otherwise doesn't make a move to try and stand. His leg hurt enough as it was. Church cranes his neck, looking around for Carolina, not wanting her to sneak up on him. Maybe it was all an elaborate plan so they could get rid of him, who knew. Freelancers were unpredictable, that's what he had learned early on. At the other male's question, he just shrugs, wincing at the sting that rides up his leg at the movement. "[b]I don't fucking know! They kept calling me 'Alpha,' and telling me I was an ai or whatever that is. Then the guy just up and left," of course, he had threatened him to stay put, but that was something he didn't bother to add. Besides, what harm could he do when he didn't know where he was? At that thought, he glances around warily, watching. It probably wouldn't be that hard to spot him with his white armor and fur, which he was thankful for. "Let's just get the hell out of here already, before he comes and finds us," the border collie seriously didn't want to deal with him again. If anything, he'd rather be back at the base, getting his deep gash treated. Church didn't know anything about his origins but Carolina did. She knew because his name was the name of her father. Her father had created him and then tore him apart over and over again to play some sick and twisted game of making one AI after another. These crimes would damn her father and she was grateful for and she still had high hopes of putting a bullet through his skull when she found him. Some said that love between a family was too strong to break but when it was manipulated for so long, twisted up and made into something ugly it was relatively easy. The dark creatures paws moved after Washington with ease, dark eyes narrowing on Church as she looked at him. Visibly she was holding back on saying something, her claws sinking deep into the ground. The woman knew he would have been looking for her approach as well but she made it fairly easy for him to see her coming. After all she was in a different body now after her death and she was going to hold that over Church's head. "We need to go. Unless someone has the capability of fighting off the Meta." There was no reason to her to comment on the claims of them calling him the 'Alpha'. She knew the truth just be connections alone. Turning to look at Washington the serval jerked her head over to Church before turning her eyes back to the scenery. "Get him up Agent Washington, watch the rear. We don't want to be caught unaware. I'll take center point." They'd get out of this alive or against she guessed she would die trying. Turning her head around she looked toward Church, an odd grimace coating her muzzle or a short time. "I died trying to save your ass. So lets make sure that doesn't happen again, alright Church." Her words were stagnant and dull before she whipped her body around and parted her jaws, breathing in the disgusting air of this territory before she just shook her head. If the Meta was following them and if he does have more AI she was going to definitely have a fight on her hands and she wasn't sure if they would make it out unscathed. Her eyes closed for a moment before she attempted to calm herself and start to walk forward hoping that Wash would keep Church inbetween the both of them. a

Agent Washington former human - freelancer - manipulative Washington didn't know everything about the Freelancer project. He just knew how it came to end up being and what they were doing during the time of the project. The Freelancer didn't know the extreme details of what had happened, as he wasn't able to retain everything that Epsilon had ended up doing to him. It was a painful process trying to go through all of his memories but it was something that needed to be done if he wanted to get some sort of an answer anyway. Washington didn't know that Church was the Alpha. He didn't even know what the Alpha was until North and York started talking about it at the mess hall one day. It had been something that Delta and Theta constantly talked about, almost sounding like it was some sort of religion. York had said that they believed that the Alpha had created them, but there was never really anything to base that information off of except for the AI fragments that they did have. Washington had simply brushed it off as something that AI's just did to themselves to keep busy so that they wouldn't have to worry about it in the future. howieWashington didn't know that Alpha was actually something that existed in the Mother of Invention, and had no clue as to what a smart AI was actually capable of doing. That had been the only time that he heard the term Alpha being spoken, and it had been the last time that he had even heard it being talked about. Washington knew that Alpha did exist now though, but he wasn't sure if it was still existing on the ship that they had considered to be their home. It was strange that was for sure, but he hadn't heard the term being used since he got back to this place. The Freelancer had memories of the other being tortured and put through extremely realistic simulations by its own fragments so that it could fragment some more. He didn't know the other's voice though, as he only remembered the screams that were going through each of them, and the other certainly didn't sound like the Director. Washington still didn't know the actual name of the Director despite sharing the memories that Alpha did. When it came to the memories that he did get, the hardly sane man wasn't really able to get specific details from what happened. The Freelancer was able to get scenes that usually didn't have any audio, except for a specific scene with Texas. Or Allison he should say as Texas is a different type of persona that was created by the Director to get his wife back. So far, the only AI that he had managed to interact since he had been here, was Sigma, and that was the other insulting him the last time that they spoke when Maine had broken his arm during that time. It was hard to think about, but he knew that there was probably no saving Maine from whatever was going on inside of his head. If there was, it would mean that they would risk their lives more instead of just trying to kill him. Washington already understood that Church didn't like being around him or Carolina. He didn't know where the lack of trust really came from, hence why he had distanced himself from the other as soon as Texas arrived as Texas seemed to be the only creature that was around Church for a big length of time. Since Caboose wasn't around, there wasn't really anyone for him to relate to either. Was he afraid of Maine though? Not exactly. He knew that both him and Carolina were capable, and now that they were going to try and kill him he doubted that they could really use. He knew how to fight a bit better in the body that he was in, and that gave them a better percentage of winning. He had no idea how injured Church actually was. Considering that the other was laying on the ground it could mean a couple of things. The scent of blood wasn't able to reach his nose, but when he noticed the substance leaking on the soaked ground, he realized that the other was bleeding and moved around toward the others side. He didn't have any medical supplies with him, which was probably his fault. As he looked at the wound over, he listened as Church began to speak, knowing that Carolina would be around sooner or later. Hopefully sooner so that he didn't get attacked from behind. Washington's head twitched to the side though as the other spoke about Alpha. What? Why would Maine call Church Alpha? He was just a simulation trooper. And then Maine thought he was an AI? That couldn't be possible. It shouldn't be possible. He was fairly certain that Alpha was basically split down till there was nothing left! [b]"That can't be possible. You're just a simulation trooper." Washington said completely confused and didn't understand what was happening. His mind needed more time to process what was actually happening now. Could Church be the Alpha? He didn't remember the Alpha being taken from the ship or if the others chip could have survived during the explosion! At the mention of Maine leaving, that sounded even more suspicious. Was this a trap and bait? Did the other think that they were coming? This caused Washington to raise his head and look around just in case. When Church said that he wanted to leave, Washington couldn't agree more. It was obvious that he was important to Maine, and getting him away from him was the best option right now. "Can you walk?" Washington questioned, as he could carry Church if he needed to, the canine a lot smaller than he was, but if he didn't have to and could help Carolina fight, then that would be the better option. Speaking of Carolina, the serval soon arrived on the scene, and he nodded his head in agreement to what she said. They needed to leave before Sigma realized that something wrong was happening. "On it Boss." The armored smilodon quickly replied before lowing himself to the ground and aiming to nudge Church's underbelly to try and get him up onto his feet. He wouldn't offer to carry him just yet and position himself behind Church, looking in the direction where the other came from. Washington's throat tightened at Carolina saying that she died because of him. It was technically the truth and wasn't a nice one to hear but it needed to be said. The smilodon kept his jaw shut and didn't say anything as he moved into position. "No movement at our 6'" Washington stated through his helmet, his voice shaking slightly. The adrenaline was already going through his veins, and he wanted to see Maine and get the fight over with already. Tags | Updated 07/27/18: |
